snow,mud..it's all the same to a horse. They learn to protect themselves and will safety up when they need to. A good one will. A green one...up to the horse
why don't you? I mean if you have a horse that's built for it and you work on him/her for at least a year, if the horse is mentally stable then take him/her to arena's to compete.. Then you'd have a finished and seasoned barrel horse.. That's what I did with my horse Mighty.. You can look at my first run on him and that was just after maybe 4 months of training off and on.. Not that hard as long as you know what you're doing lol.. :D
Hi,this videos are so cool i'm Brazilian and i love Pole Bending, actualy i do it with my Horse Pom Pom Agae, i love your video, is dificult we see pole bending competicion in EUA. why you don't take a look in my videos...thaks!
Loving this! I do poles on a 6 yr old TWH and 14 yr old TWH, they do it perfectly fine even when people are indignant that I invade their QH driven sport.
I don't believe its a QH driven sport.. I have an appy (you can look at my vids :D) and he's a finished barrel horse and i'm starting him on poles now.. People give me crap for having an appy but they shut up REAL quick when I beat them lol.. :P if you're good carry your head high.. People only like QH because they're so versatile.. But prove to them that it's not just a QH driven sport KICK ASS! :P :D
Your horse is amazing. XD I'm doing one TWH on barrels now, then switching him to poles because he's more stable than the other I was originally working with
are you talking about my horse Mighty? The appy in my vids? lol.. if you are thank you very much.. I've worked super hard with him this pass year :D And good luck with the TWH.. :)
well thank you soooooo much!! lol.. I've worked alot with him and he's come around so well..he's finished now on the barrels, so i'm working him on the poles :D how old's your TWH?
Heyy.. to answer yalls questions.. We rodeo rain or shine, no matter how pitiful the arena is. The only time we will cancel a rodeo is because of lightning. We normally don't wear helmets, just cowboy hats.. Some wear helmets though, it's just not our style.
Well not everybody wants to live there life worrying. People back in the old days didnt have helmets and they lived for 90+ years. So what makes you think that we have to wear helmets now. I personally dont care for helmets. But thats just me. And if somebody doesnt want to wear a helmet then they shouldnt have to wear one.
I ride my horse in the UK - I don't own a helmet - sometimes people stop their cars and tell me I should be wearing one. My horse is 16 years old - as steady as a horse can be. For me riding is about freedom and a hot helmet is most uncomfortable and restricting. I am sure sriving a car and stopping it in the middle of the road to tell a rider to put their helmet on is more dangerous than riding a steady old hack.
what kinda fast are you looking at? my 28 yr old mare could beat all of those and she's a saddle horse

that looks like so much fun! i think that they should put something over the ground tho, like sawdust because the footing could hurt a horse

Oh my gosh, they need to at least throw sawdust on it! A horse could easily get hurt badly because of that mud!
They are great, and pole bending is fun, but that is very dangerous... That could kill someone!

To answer questions.
Cowboy hats and no helmets are "cowboy" style.
Thats why we dont wear helmets.

kelliefan1017 3 years ago
well not everyone dies from wearing helmets, some people do. but if you fall, yeah the odds are higher.

kelliefan1017 3 years ago

XxTheNewGenerationxX 3 years ago
Your point is once again.... I live where we get snow storms all winter! Washington State.
kelliefan1017 3 years ago
well then your horses are used to it, you see here the snow is a bit off, so they're not sure what to think of it.
XxTheNewGenerationxX 3 years ago
Well I rode a horse down in texas where is never snow and he was just fine with it, and he had never seen snow in his life.

If you can handle your own horse then you shouldn't have to worry about it as much.
It is a precaution sure,
But some people like the danger that riding brings them.
I never, ever wear a helmet and I'm 12.
Doesn't mean I'm stupid,
and it sure as heck doesn't mean I'm going to die.
Keep your opinion to yourself, so other's don't have to get their back up to protect themselves.
