If u feed wild animals, they are going to hunt less and less, and get used to humans. Farmers often think of them as pests, and would probably kill them on sight. See the problem this causes?
the person who said you could get you finger bitten off 4 months ago is dumb as hell. because its not true at all! foxes actually bite softer then medium to large dogs. Foxes are nice to humans and they actually can be tamed. There are people in the US and especially in Russia who own domesticated foxes. I think it was awesome for you to feed that fox. It looked like it was VERY skinny.
Dude! its a fox, who looks like its about to die! it got a nice bun before it died, they got drunk in the woods Big effin deal, Fu#! is it that hard to see?
Is feeding wild animals really that bad? Many animals die of starvation. It's not uncommon for animals kept in captivity under human supervision to live more than twice than their wild counterparts. I think it helps them more than it harms.
@atsusamuno Animals need to die. Population needs to be controlled. Look what happened to the human population, we have disease, violence, depression and other mental disorders, all because of medical advances and technology which have taken all the freedom from the human race. At least when we end up exterminating all animal life, they will have died free. We will be nothing more than manufactured products.
@deadithink what a fitting name you have then. you are dead, spiritually and morally. If anything needs to be "controlled" it's human population. They are the ones doing all the damage
we have all these problems because people have become disconnected from nature. been trained from birth to pollute, kill ,and poison the earth and everything on it. animals are not the problem. they are the solution. people must eventually embrace it or become extinct
@WildlifeDen Your name is also fitting. The point of my comment was to prevent people from infecting animals with the same disease the humans have: living forever. I know exactly what you are talking about and I support you one-hundred percent. I AM slightly hurt by your insult against my integrity, but I take it that it was just a result of my previous comment. I would like to see humans littered on the side of the road as roadkill, but no we're special.
y were u feeding it! I'm a fox lover and I understand he looks harmless but he is a wild animal! Foxes aren't like dogs you can't tame them. If he wanted to he could have bit of your whole finger with the bread.
Actually there has been a group of scientists in Southern Siberia who have been selectively breeding foxes for domestication since 1959 with great progress by selecting 130 of the least aggressive foxes in fur farms and selecting the least fearful each generation. Through genetic variation this fox happens to be less fearful of humans.
After all, seagulls are wild & we feed them, and their lack of fear of humans have proved to be very advantageous to their species, indeed.
@silverX123456789 Dude, foxes can be tamed im soon going to raise a fox this coming spring. People have bred these animals to be tame pets for years. Although they ae more difficult to manage they can still be tamed.
@silverX123456789 i used to see a lot of foxes when i was little and i fed a few of them some bread
once some foxes game in a pack, and didn't even try to intimidate my dad and i even thought we were outnumbered.
they even stayed and sat down at our camp site. i didn't try to pet them or anything, because i would imagine that would piss them off, but you shouldn't be afraid of a fox unless your a toddler, otherwise a fox would have no reason to fight with you unless you provoke it.
@AslanGriffindorLion Apparently the red and arctic fox is wanted for their fur, so their endangered status is fairly high, as for the swift fox, they've been extirpated from Alberta.
@13laciotat they're a lot slimmer in the wild, domesticated foxes usually have plenty to eat and are healthier, they actually live a lot longer in captivity.
I was feeding it a piece of a hamburger bun from dinner the night before. You can see beer cans on the ground because we were getting drunk as fuck, and the fox wanted to party with us.
And for the people who are arguing about hunting, I'm against it, and agree with wtfzim. I hate it when I hear of people killing animals for "fun". Humans are arrested for killing other humans, but it's completely ok to kill any other animal? Killing animals should only be for food and protecting yourself if they attack, not for sport.
yes, but we should kill for necessity, not fun, you don't see a fox running around killing everything just for fun, they eat what they kill, or they protect their young. I agree that if we are in danger, we can kill, but just randomly shooting is stupid and a waste of ammo.
Hunters are cowards who shoot from afar anyway - they try not to be seen by foxes or any animal so it wouldn't matter whether or not this fox was tame. If someone is going to shoot it, they'll do it regardless. It shouldn't be shot at in the first place. So we should thank those who are kind to animals instead of slaughtering them for the sick pleasure and "fun" of it. It's their fault if the fox dies, not those who want to give it a meal and be nice to it.
I'm not saying hunting is good, not by a long shot. But I too live in Michigan and driving down a country road I counted 15 deer then had to stop and let at least 6 cross the road.
Don't feed the wildlife... did anyone notice how skinny the fox was? I'd say he was doing it a favour and it probably only survives off of scraps from humans.
You definitely don't deserve all the flack you're receiving from the after-school special crowd.
I liked it... I don't think you deserve all the crap you're getting from these people. If the Fox was brave enough to venture into your campgroup and come beg for scraps, it's probably been fed before. Just twitching makes the really wild ones run for the hills
I think they're like racoons exept when you feed racoons they'll bite back if you you dont have anymore food. They'll always wany more. And It really happened.
This fox has obviously had human contact for years. The fact that he's so skinny suggests that he probably doesn't know how to hunt because of humans feeding him. Keep in mind, as humans spread across the earth, the habitats we take over from them become shared. The ones who don't get used to us die. The ones who befriend us become our pets. How do you think dogs became our pets? Thanks for the dumbass comment. I suppose you'd rather the species of your dog Moby should be extinct?

This is an untrue statement. With little to no wolves in Michigan, the deer population booms every year. Hunters help keep the population in check.
