Yes, for the 1000000th time, they sampled this. It's what DJs do. Let's all just accept the fact that some of us were brought to these gems of music because of Daft Punk samples and leave it at that, ok?
@aoibhingirl321 I know right? There is a bunch of songs that have great things like that for only seconds, you wonder how he didn't notice how amazing it was.
@aoibhingirl321 think about it.. you had never heard daft punk, you wouldn't of thought of it either if you had heard this song. Unless you have daft punk talent maybe.. :P
@aoibhingirl321 - Probably because he was an artist and a musician and not a sample DJ who wanted to 'remix' previous work. Also remember the context of the time, that first 8 bars would not sound as great until you were able to loop and it put some fat beats behind it. Daft Punk are great, but they are not muso's, they are DJ's/producers, and they can be different creatures looking at different things in music.
Are you kidding me? Just because the first 3 chords or so are similar doesn't mean that Daft Punk stole this. What about the other 80% of "Digital Love"?
@TrickyEmu They did in fact sample. Not only are the chords just right, the instruments are as well. I wouldnt say they "stole" it, which is why we use "sample". And the other 80% of Digital Love is the first part looped lol. And other instruments added by Daft Punk, but they did infact sample
@TrickyEmu The whole structure of the song is sampled from the intro of this song. Doesn't make it less of a song, in my opinion.
I never knew why sampling is such a bad thing. As long as the song is properly credited (which it is in the liner notes of Discovery) then I think it's a great way to experiment with music.
if it wasn't for DAFT PUNK i wouldn't have ever known who this guy was... its a nice song! thanks daft punk. and i gotta commend them for creating an equally good song from sampling this

Never would've guess that bit was sampled. Pretty cool song, not the BEST funk/soul I've ever heard but not bad by any means. Daft Punk knew how to pick 'em.
@MsMadJovi -_-...cmon show the old school some love...yes we all know daft punk sampled the beginning and you cant really say daft punk is better since everyone feels things in different ways.....when its music love them all equally cuz they are perfect for different times
@darkinglory just because Daft Punk sampled this? You know, there is a LOT more music like this from that era, because it's just how songs sounded that time. Go check it out ;-)

Sampling is an art. To create something completely new from something else like that is genius. People say daft punk isn't original
But it's French house, or nu-disco if u will. They're supposed to sample old funk and soul and loop it, building off of it. That's what makes daft punk so great. Believe it or not they fore into soul, synthpop, classical, disco, funk, and electro, I idolize em so u retards who know nothing of the art of sampling, stfu.
i like daft punk but i dont like their annoying fanbase with kanye west dickriders attached to that.
george duke is a genius. daft punk/kanye are simply not. he wrote shit from scratch and is a true innovator. sorry but it takes more talent to compose music with real instruments than sequencing samples and drums on a computer or akai mpc-3000 hardware.
kanye has not changed music. people are nuts if they believe this...either that or they've only listened to rap from the 00s.
@LaLaGrunge I dont care! If you use a fukking card board box a guitar, ore a computer. Inovation is stil inovation. And lokking back i must say daft punk took something forgotten from an old dumbster and rewired it to be something totaly diferent new and exiting. Im not saying its okay to make money on others musik with chezy remixes, but if you can take somethin and make it better i totaly respect it and agnolege it as true artwork.
@LaLaGrunge It takes more? Really? How would you know. I compose music from scratch and I sample and I find there is no advantage in either. Sampling just gives you an idea of where to start.
