Thanks for this amazing video! It is shuch a shame that XH558 will be on her own as the only flying vulcan. im amazed the yanks didn't get any of there in the air! Lets hope XM655 continues to taxi for along time to come. Long live the Vulcan!
i remember watching this landing at the age of 8 if i remember correctly it took a number of approaches before it actually landed but it was awesome to watch
the only reason 558 will have to be grounded is because that the engines they have for her will run out of life,if they can find replacments for her then she will continue to fly, lets hope so,when i went to bruntingthorp before she flew, they told me they were looking into possibly using f14 engines as they were told they were compatable and just removing the afterburners, fingers crossed that works.
Even if what your saying is true i rather that 558 remains grounded if not flown with out its default engines, i dont think there will be another one flying unless a group of rich people do it privately without help from lottery etc.
it's such a shame too see that only one avro vulcan (XH558) is still airworthy...It would be bloody fantastic too see XL426 at Southend up in the air again!...and too see her in formation with XH558 would be stunning, i know i'd shed a few tears!...i lived near waddington, and i saw these vulcans nearly every day when i was young! it's such a shame there all gone...XH558 is the last, and even that won't last very long...
There is no intention to return 655 to flight, just to keep it as a ground running Vulcan and probably one of the most complete - equipment wise in the country.
Anyway if getting 655 back in the air took as long as 558 then 558 would be out of service before 655 made it into the air.
There is currently a need for new tyres for 655 which will cost £6000 to be made!
Sad day...
I fly out of Wellesbourne and have the pleasure of seeing this magnificant beast quite a lot. Amazing aircraft!

Just think, a Vulcan with afterburners!
It wouldn't half climb fast!

@v8man1 i would like it if they kept the afterburners on imagine 558 with them that would be a sight to see

A stunning aircraft, a world beater. Just want to see her back in the sky now with her sister XH558.

And isn't that the biggest shame! Was there on Sunday when 558 flew past 655 what a site to see!

Hi,
I was there as well, as someone called it "a historic occasion" having 2 vulcans under power together for the first time since the 80's.
