  • Mike Tyson continues to be one of the most interesting public figures in the history of sport, and entertainment, and even popular culture. Enigmatic, unpredictable, yet wise, lucid, and pleasantly sensible at times. I'll always be a fan.

  • mikes had the ultimate life!!

  • @HENRYHOBBS1 shutup!

  • Midst all the bullshit, his life could have ended up God knows where, but Mike finally got his mind right.

  • thats so messed up when he set chille up on that reality show wht chille wants lol anyone no if she every found wht she was lookin for. or wht

  • tyson is a god

  • I want the old Mike back!

  • 5:50 jeff fenech!

  • i wish cus d mato lived for 10 more years just imagine or even 5!

  • greatest ever to ever fight..20 yr old world champ that will never happen again.....never and i said never

  • I agree with improvmaniac, its just the world he was brought into created him as a fighter and with natural strength he gained skill

  • seriously it might sound stupid to those that may not nderstand but people that go through depression are some of the most mis understood people in the world

  • BEST OF ALL TIME

  • I can't get over how articulate he is for a fighter. He could have been anything had he had the opportunities. He's extremely smart and incisive about his world. I wish more people would see this side of him. I really wish him well.

  • greatest of all time

  • LOL@"that dark age world"

  • I love mike!!!! He's very misunderstood

  • @lharrel2 lol

  • "when you have something at home to go home to a nice soft bed, abeutiful wife or girlfriend a nice car or abunch of beautiful pigeons that you love or whatever"

That was very touching. Mike actually does have pet pigeons.

  • Tyson is awesome.

  • he is not sub-human, he is super-human..

i dont agree with the nation of islam but...

    fuck them.

  • "people think im an animal"wipes face slowly."after i met cus it was all uplifting after that, uplifting"walks away

  • when was this video recorded???

  • Tyson's the shit!! much respect.

  • it sux that people still think he's this murderous psycho freak. he's alot calmer and cooler than he used to be. He just makes stupid choices these days, like the whole coke/DUI episode.

  • his a sick man, people just didnt know him, he always was clever like this, and sensible

  • beautiful. i can listen to Mike talk all day. he makes sense

  • i agree. great interview too, thanks for uploading this Maxboxingvidea

  • So true. I too could listen to him all day. I wish our paths cross someday. (I do not mean it in a Japanese Samurai Movie sense).

  • i am not defending him, i am defending what i believe.

  • I can understand why you would call him a Violent Criminal Psychopath from his past.

but bisexual?...dude sorry to break it to you but that big black dude that you pay to fuk you in the ass isn't Mike Tyson...maybe you have so much hate cause he cheated on you.

I suggest you see a psychologist or something.

  • ROFL USE YOU OWNED HIM AHAHHA

  • he is not in his old age... that makes him sound like an old man... he is Older

  • dont think so, i always thought mike was a sophisticated dude....just a person with a lot of ersonal trouble and a lisp

  • nice observation boric, i feel the same way. he showed innate intelligence from a young age, and showed wisdom from his words as he grew older. unfortunely he didn't show much wisdom from his actions. i'd say cirmumstance dictated he'd be a very tortured person. mike tyson's story is part tragedy and part triumph. tyson gives me hope for the world.

  • I pray that he will have happiness and peace in his life now. It always seems to those who don't look closely enough that Tyson was nasty but he was always real. He's done some things that he will probably regret but he speaks from his heart, he also did a lot of stuff for charity. He deserves some peace and happiness.

  • yes, tyson was never a malicious man. he is a good man.

  • yup, i can tell you're being sarcastic thou....nobody's perfect buddy, but overall he looks like a decent guy

  • i wasn't really being sarcastic. i might be giving him too much credit. maybe he had to grow up a bit, but i never thought of him as malicious. i truly feel he is a good man.

  • Mike is a beautiful human being. I have to respect someone who lives life on their terms. It's their life let him live. I love Mike and all his imperfections!

  • I met him in at LAX, waiting for a cab just like me. What surprised me was how down to earth he was. We lined up fists and took pictures like at the pre-fight weigh ins. What a great guy! His fist was the size of a brick!

  • damn i've never been able to see this side of mike tyson! he's a lot more intelligent and down to earth than i thought. he's pretty cool and now i respect him in a whole new way ^-^

  • The gorilla´s on Zoloft...but I can see there´s been a road travelled for Mike. Good for you Mike!!!!

  • all respect and cred to the man Tyson

  • hes the man

  • man hes my hero

  • wow, is he on prozzak or something...he is a different person

  • This and other vids totaly changes peoples perspective on Mike!

Mike trully is the greatest (and the badest :D) !

  • Mann that guy is so sweet, and so peacefull..hi es a sensetive person..

  • lol "i dont need any goddamn money"

  • Tyson should quit boxing cause it's really embarassing for him now and seriously go into motivational speaking. He'd really excel in that field. Regardless of what people say, he's really intelligent and I'm sure if he had a different background growing up, he could've used his sharp mind to make a living.

  • he retired like 2 years ago

  • hahahahaha

  • darinio shut yo deepak chopra talikn behind outta here

  • darinion shut yo depak chopra talking behind outta here

  • mike is actually very sensible he just have some CRAZYYYYYYYYY moments

  • mike is like 45 right omg hes still fighting he looks like smeagal ''where my precious heavy whieght belt''

  • THis interview actually makes mike sound sensible.

  • Tyson shows his articulate and intelligent side here.

  • mike's just an imature boy with an oversize ego that eclipsed his talent. sorry mike, i'm still your fan...

  • Mike's such a likeable man. Someone i know organised an after dinner speach with Tyson and Bruno, and he came across as a nice and freindly person. His entourage were a bunch of dicks, however.

  • when u meet him maybe youd like to suck him off?

  • lol yeah I tend to get carried away sometimes, deaddog, sorry about that! I'm a huge fan of Mike's as you can probably tell and have read some biographical books about him and watched the majority of his fights, so I do know a lot about him, but unfortunately have never met him before. Maybe some day I will.

I'd like to be involved in either writing or commentating about boxing and sports in general and making a living this way.

  • dam this is like an essay!!!

  • There was a time when Mike would let his fists do the talking for him. Whenever he did otherwise it was obvious that he was no longer the same fighter who could strike fear in his opponents with his boxing skills alone. The skilled Mike Tyson never had to resort to intimidation tactics during press conferences either, like he most notably did with Lennox Lewis.

  • Mike shoved a camera man on his way to the ring for that fight, just to make himself appear to be more of a bad ass fighter, possibly suggesting that he was either intimidated himself and felt as though he had to look tougher in order to scare Evander, or was simply in a bad mood, my pick would be the former.

  • For example, Mike went out of character and followed Peter McNeeley's eyes like some kind of ticking time bomb, while the referee was giving them instructions. Ironically McNeeley knew that it was all an act and actually smiled back. Another example would be during his ring entrance for his first bout with Evander Holyfield...

  • It's funny how people view Mike as being this great intimidator throughout his career and comparing him to Sonny Liston. The only time that I truly saw him trying to act tougher than he was or to intimidate his opponents, was once he back from prison. Deep down he probably knew that he wasn't the same fighter anymore and felt that through the use of intimidation, he would appear to be more threatening than he actually was...

  • Well, although Mike is caring, I should have wrote that he is a very sensitive person, who often allows his emotions to get the better of him.

  • Mikes boxing skills obviously attracted me towards him, but his gentle and generous side, a side that many people don't seem to realize he possesses, also won me over. Mike seems like a very caring person, who's emotions often get the best of him.

  • ...I opted to call myself DTysonator as a last option, feeling that no one would have such a username.

Mike is definitely one of my biggest inspirations, as he made me believe in myself more than I ever used to, by proving that with determination anything is possible.

  • By the way, did Mike ever forgive you guys for having left you out in the cold? Hopefully he did and realized that you truly cared about him. I also care about Mike as a human being, despite what my screename may seem to suggest. I usually go by the screenname of Daniel T, but that name was taken and since I am a big fan of Mike's and his 1987 Nintendo game is my all-time favorite video game and I managed to whip his CPU counterpart in the first round...

  • Mike hints at his displeasure of taking orders from others towards the end of first part of the interview posted by Maxboxingvideo. "A bunch of beautiful pigeons that you love" gave it away, only a cool guy like Mike would say something like that haha.

I'm not sure whether Mike always had a foul mood in the gym, but the distractions in his mind likely made things worse for everyone.

  • I read in Jose Torres' Tyson biography, entitled "Fire and Fear", that Mike even told Kevin Rooney to fuck off when Kevin was asking him to train in a certain way. The stories in the book were later said to be fictional by Mike himself though, so who knows if any of this actually happened.

  • I definitely agree with you, Steve, about the negative influence that Robin Givens likely had in Tyson's life. She was a huge distraction from what I have read. Mike went absolutely crazy over this woman and would do anything for her, listening to her like a loved crazed puppy. Mike probably wanted to be with her rather than prepare for his next fight or watch footage of his opponent.

  • I mean Mike did say that he was going to retire after he destroyed Spinks and so maybe he had already accomplished everything that he had set out to do and had nothing more to prove and just wanted to live out the glamorous life and catch up on lost times. In doing so however, he lost everything that made him so great as a fighter and although he seemed like he was having a ball, he was ironically setting himself up for an eventual heartbreak in every sense of the word.

  • Mike obviously liked what he was hearing from Don King and probably thought that by getting rid of the entire team that gave him all of the essential tools that he required to remain successful, he would become independent and boy did he ever! Perhaps Mike no longer cared about his boxing career, as to make such a questionable move from a boxing standpoint.

  • I don't believe that Tyson was lying about the pressure that he felt building up inside of himself, he just did a good job at keeping it in check for many years. Don King likely did play on Mike's desires of wanting more freedom to be able to do the things that he truly enjoyed doing, instead of having to train hard for a fight. But at the end of the day Mike probably wanted more freedom, if he didn't, he would not have allowed Don King to sweet talk him.

  • He likely wanted to be just like other people his age and go out to parties or clubs, play around, talk about or engage in pleasurable experiences (especially fornicating with women), basically things that involved little pressure if any at all, rather than having to bust his chops in the gym and make the right weight at the weigh-in or worry about the quality of a particular performance (he didn't seem at all pleased with his win over Tony "TNT" Tucker for example).

  • ...and in the aforementioned interview Mike explains how the general public has no idea how depressing the life of a young boxer can be, even going so far as saying that people wouldn't want to be in his shoes, as they would probably want to cry. Now, does that truly sound like a happy individual?

Mike always seemed to love to unleash his anger inside the ring, but despised training and the sacrifices that came along with maintaining his superior form.

  • BIGFIGHTS, if you are in the fact the same Steve Lott who was previously one of Mike Tyson's personal assistants, during his greatest days as a boxer, you most likely have a greater perspective as to what exactly happened to Mike when Don King and company came marshing along, since you did live with Tyson for a certain amount of time. However, I recall an interview of Mike conducted by HBO prior to his 1986 bout with Mitch "Blood" Green, long before Don King took him away...

  • Cool interview, Maxboxingvideo! I never knew that Mike was interested in the career of David Tua and liked him as a person as well as a fighter. It would have been great had they met in the ring, since their styles were similar. Oh well, the clash of the devastating knockout kings never happened for whatever reason and the heavyweight division suffered yet another blow because of it.

  • it's great to see tyson so lucid and so pragmatic. this video is the perfect antidote to the image of mike tyson the monster as has so often been delivered by the media.

  • Part 3

Mike was fine. Until Robin Givens and Don King. The interesting thing is that to this day Mike is still embarrassed to say that he was destroyed by Don. Don knew Mike could never bring himself to tell the truth. Don knew that a guy like Mike, a kid from the street, would rather lie about their history ( by saying he was too young to fight for the title ) than say he was conned by King. Now that's a great con job.

    Steve Lott

  • how do you know if he was happy? your not him

money does NOT bring happiness, a well rounded life does

  • Part 2

Sensational victories over Smith, Thomas, Tucker, Biggs, Holmes, Tubbs, and Spinks. For two years Mike was a happy superstar - and conquered all the pressure. The world's most popular athlete. And he was successful through this entire period - with no Cus. Because Mike knew that Jim and Loraine Jacobs. Bill and Doris Cayton, Kevin Rooney, Jose Torres and others loved him and were there for him.

  • Part 1

It is amazing that to this day Mike cannot bring himself to tell the truth. He said that being a champ at 20 was too much pressure for him and that's why he ended where he is today. An outright lie by Mike. After winning the title Mike was the happiest guy in the world. Living the life of "Riley." No problems. Commercials on TV. Spokesperson for the NYC Police Department, FBI, DEA.

  • oh ic. it sounds like mike is at peace with his life. do you have any interviews from this year by mike?

  • yeah, when was this interview?

  • I think this was when he was training for Kevin McBride. 2005.

  • Damn... This makes it office Mike Tyson is awesome... dude is sounding on it right here... smart, sensible, cool as fuck...

  • nice interview. tyson the greatest

  • when wus this interview???

  • He's not a saint...but he is far from the animal rapist beast that he is portrayed as by the media.

  • I'v seen loads of interviews like this with mike hes actually an alright guy, I read another interview just before the williams fight, don king took him for a ride, thanks for posting this mate

  • evry1 likes u mike! iron mike is the best heavyweight fighter eva, n thanx so much 4 putting this vid up, keep up the gd work.
