Lol I'm not an expert in cosmetology so I say that this video was preeety helpful. And damn if you already know so much about sewing in tracks that ur giving HER corrections, then maybe you shouldn't even be watching this video.
honey, idk where you go to school but i can tell you for a fact hair is NOT 50% longer when it is wet, hair is 10% longer, if that, and it also depends on the elasticity of the hair.
last thing is if u go through the weft with the needle everytime you stitch it wont make those spaces. unfortunately it takes a longer time so when i buy needles i ask the clerk to open the packaging so i can see the point so i can get through the weft faster (some places wont do it). if u want to adopt that option go through the very top of the weft cause the needle goes through easier. good luck with your career it's the best one you could've chosen!!! happy weaving!!!
im not sure which cosmetology school u went to so i dont know what u got in your kit, but if u have those double prong or single prong metal clips for rollersets and pin curls you could clip the end of the weft that you're going towards onto the cornrow so it wont move (fyi: the track is not the hair extension it is the cornrow).
your lock stitch is good, but of course there's an easier way. hard to explain. once i learn how to edit my videos ill do a video response showing you the easier ways
dont braid the hair wet for it to shrink that's too much tension unless the client's hair has good integrity. curly hair texture should be braided dry and straight hair texture should be braided DAMP.
sew the end of the braid onto the bottom of the cornrow before you start sewing on. that'll be one less thing to worry about as you're sewing your weft.
your knot needs work. all those pieces shouldn't look like that. just clean it up but i know u were rushing.

this is not the best way to sew on hair...sewing it in between the track is better...and putting tracks in your hair while its wet the hair will start ti sweat and smell faster
omg ive been trying to leaarn how to do sew in weave from black girls and you were the Only helpful video i found lol,,and youu white! ilovee you And this videoo! So helpful,,thanks:)
hi once the wefts are taken out when desired is your hair underneath damaged? as i really want a weave but everyone says they damage your hair so wanted to no what more people think? also if helps im a white english person (just thought id state as deiff ethnicitys have different hair) xx
okay so you have a video that teaches how to do the corn row w.e but you dont have one that teaches you how to braid across, which is what a lot of people need to know.
@KayteeKilljoy17 lol it's kind of self explanatory... you do the same thing but instead of going down, you do across. there has to be some level of common sense applied when doing hair, otherwise don't attempt it and go get it done. if you can't apply general creativity and general common sense then you're probably not meant to do hair. good luck.
@NMMinc I suppose it may be common sense, but I just wanted to make sure because some things are done differently when you change directions, but clearly not this. Anyway, thanks for the information it was REALLY helpful, and we got the extensions in just fine. Oh, and I noticed you were kind of short with me, but I'm assuming that's because you thought I was implying that you're video was no good, which I wasn't. Thanks again!
@CITYGYRL23 lol the only amateur here is you - looking up how to do hair on youtube. if you weren't an amateur, but rather the opposite (a pro) you'd be MAKING videos, not watching videos.
Sweetie If you braid wet hair when it drys and loses that elasticity if going to pull the hair out at the root and damage the papilla. And sewing that braid in first would insure that it didnt lossen
@vwbyrd3 it will only pull the hair out of you wet the hair from the root to tips. if you leave a half inch of dry, and then wet the rest, the result will come out tighter.
obviously she is a trained professional, and she is using diffrent thread that does not match the hair so we can see how she did it, ya'll would be bitchin that you couldnt see how she was doing this if it was same thread damn.
actually i do hair, white and black and that is one of teh best tutorials I seen, only I would say stitch the track not teh hair around it to get rid of the spaces between the hair...
great job! i love this video of how detailed it is and how finally someone showed how to tie the knot and attach it to the hair. finally! thank you for the video. fiyi for future videos always do them in detail like this explaining everything. because the one part i need to know (tie the needle in the knot) i could never find out all this crappy tutorial videos!
so, i bought some really expensive extensions, and im getting them sewn in, but, ive got "scene" hair, and i dont want a lot of volume, i want it kind thin at the bottumn and volumnous at the top, ive got medium long hair, and i need to know how many i should put in, and how i can take care of them so they last as long as possible.
thank you so much your video makes it alot easier to understand. because one time i tryed to do mines w/o looking at videos...it didnt come out so well
Your the 1st person I've seen double over the track.. Great idea though! I'm deff going to do that, seems like it makes it fuller, and stay in place better <3
traction hair loss for the loss. Tight braids and constant pulling on your hair follicles can and will lead to hair loss. I'm not a huge fan of tight braids. Braids can always be redone if they are lose and there are a plethora of hair care products that can tame fly-aways and create the look of tight braids w/out the pain and discomfort of actually having tight braids.
you should sew the thread through the weft of the hair instead of through the hair.....ur way is correct also but for more security it's better through the wefts
oh my gosh! So....today I'm doing my first weave by myself and been searching for a video tutorial! Yours was super helpful and I'm so glad you mentioned to leave some hair out lol. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
OHHHH THIS IS HOW YOU DO SEW IN EXTENSIONS =D i thought it was a real person for like a minute until i realized it didnt even twitch LOL but thanks =D im totally going to do this on my friend xD
@daddieslilgrrl7575 not if you keep your hair clean, you really have to be careful about drying your hair properly after you wash your hair. you must make sure that the briad its self if dry and not just the weave. also make sure you where a stocking cap when you sleep and a shower cap in your having your bath or shower so you hair doesn't mess up.
you sound sick =( lol feel better and thanks for this vid. i might be getting my hair weaved in soon too.. i'm a white girl who chopped all her hair off- bad idea hhahha. thanks!
Won't doing this to your hair cause you to loose some of your hair when you have to remove it? because that is exactly what happens to me and i sewed my weave in myself and although it came out great because i've been doing it since i was 9 years old im almost 15 now i still can not figure out a way to stop ripping or cutting out sum of my hair whenever i take it out..any suggestions on what i should do?
@MandyDezy When you take it out, you will see hair falling out, but it is not ripping out hair. That hair is hair that had already naturall fallen off your head and couldn't shed off on it's own because the braid was there. the average person loses 250 strands of hair a day.
i had no idea white women used this specific technique for their weaves..very eye opening. i think she did pretty good especially since she was rushing.
LOL, some lady responed to my comment when I stated that her model is brave. LOL, I did not realize it was a manniquin lol..Someone called me a dumb ass...lol
good job... but i think you should start by doing one braid on each side and then bring them in to one in the middle of the head... its a much better technique :)
Thank you so muchh for this. I was worried about finding a video with good information about ending the track and how to do that knot. I also picked up other tips as well so thank you!
hey i have a few questiins i was hoping you could help me with, so does haveing those braids in your hair hurt your hair? like does the tightness make it fall out or anythuign like that or make it break easyer? also how long can you have these kind of extentions in before you need to take them out or do you have to take them out? thanks let me know
For that texture of hair, it usually helps to grip it better when braiding. Not completely wet, just slightly damp. I usually wet the hair with a spray bottle.
@19laceylee : oh god, i know how you feel, i used to do sew in, for a week it was alright, after when the extentions started to get dried up and crap. .. i was itchy az hell..i wanted to scrap my skull against a tree!!!!! ..but now i do clip ins, on bond a strip of hair to my natural hair 1 by 1
There's probably a lot of hair dressers mad at you right now for showing this! LOL who cares?! I'm gonna try this. I know a place in town doing this that charges $400 on up for this! Thanks for showing this!
one little correction. u kno how she put the needle thru the top of the track(hair peice) every time u thread the hair u should put it thru the top of the track(hair piece) to prevent the bulking or w.e thats occuring on the video
so u make the braid small for caucasian hair....i am trying to do my friends sew in and hers come out bulky lookin like u can c right thru her hair and c the track...i will make the braid extra small now, lol
best sew in tutorial on youtube! i just began to learn to sew in and i was having the darnest time from knotting it to whatever. great explaination and an awesome visual!!!!!!
i like this tut b/c you really show how to start && end it.. cause a lot of ppl don't know how to start it.. if it should or shoudn't go through tha track.. or even how to tie tha knot.
some people do it that way. most people do it the way i've shown above. i was taught by four african american women who are very successful in the extension field... and this is how they showed me. different techniques can be used, there is no rule for a right or wrong way currently.
there are diff types of wefts. some are made for actually poking your need through the weft (generally cheaper hair from my understanding), and then there is the more expensive hair that you will want to wrap the thread around the weft. if you are constantly jabbing the needle through the weft you will ruin your expensive GOOD hair causing the weft to break down and hair to shed.
i like the vids and i AM a cosmetologist. its cool girl!

MrsNeal100 2 years ago
where are you located?

For that texture of hair, it usually helps to grip it better when braiding. Not completely wet, just slightly damp. I usually wet the hair with a spray bottle.

one little correction. u kno how she put the needle thru the top of the track(hair peice) every time u thread the hair u should put it thru the top of the track(hair piece) to prevent the bulking or w.e thats occuring on the video
lakeytah 2 years ago 2

ok ah im going to have to come to you... soo ahh please message me boo..
MiMiDaBrAiDeR 2 years ago
some people do it that way. most people do it the way i've shown above. i was taught by four african american women who are very successful in the extension field... and this is how they showed me. different techniques can be used, there is no rule for a right or wrong way currently.
NMMinc 2 years ago
there are diff types of wefts. some are made for actually poking your need through the weft (generally cheaper hair from my understanding), and then there is the more expensive hair that you will want to wrap the thread around the weft. if you are constantly jabbing the needle through the weft you will ruin your expensive GOOD hair causing the weft to break down and hair to shed.
