I was taught piano by Bach in 2077 after his resurrection, shortly before I killed my own grandfather as an April fool gag devised at the battle of Agincourt. Henry II was such a grouse.
Me too. I believe Nikolayeva was the inspiration - Shostakovich wrote these preludes and fugues for Nikolayeva after he heard her play the Bach preludes and fugues.
@pangaea611 Bair Shagdaron. He graduated from Moscow Conservatory in '84 and was her assistant professor from '88 until she died. So lucky to have been under his tutelage and through him, hers! He talks about her all the time, but actually after watching this video, I've realized that they play quite differently!
@hohohee1 The prelude and fugue are 2 separate parts. Click on 3:09 to "fast forward" to the fugue. Kind of like hitting "next track" on a CD player. By freely typing my comment, I have graciously given the community a useful tool. Q.E.D. Yes.

No, we do not know the important date of this recording. It would be good to know, given the histories and age of hands and mind.
And yet, given history, perhaps it does not matter so much as we of little history enter into its memory.
