@rshandty They do if the soldier is going to afganastan. There are still people in the army manly generals who want to keep the digital patterns they are testing multicam aginst different digital patterns idk why they don't just throw the digital shot away
we in the british military are using Multi terrain pattern (our name for multi-cam) and it works wonders. at first glance you think 'how the fuck can that blend into a desert? because it looks more woodland' but it strangely blends in with all enviroments in afghan. and you said its too expensive? well if the british military bought it then it's cheap lol
The Army should have done more research into the terrain and features in the middle east and central asian theatre of operations and issued these instead of the current ACU's we have now.. Before the R and D come up with this stuff, ASK THE INFANTRY. SF and RANGERS what is needed! then come up with an armored and aviation type coverall for flight and armored crews and LBE for the troop's. the boots well, you can make them a more faded brown.
Personally I like the look of our current ACU's but its very true they don't give much of a blend with the surroundings. We've been told that initally the Multi camo uniform will be issued to all soldiers by the latest May of 2011. I would like to keep both uniforms but if one will keep my soldiers and myself more protected then I'm all for it.
Multicam is probably the 3rd most effective camoflauge I've seen (2nd best being a well-seasoned ghillie suit, 1st being active camoflauge - neither practical for a combat uniform). I think the US Army chose the ACU for the same reason they chose the Berretta over the SIG; it's cheaper.
Actually if you wear the same set of ACUs outside of the wire everyday, they'll fade to a nice color that blends in pretty well with rural areas. I was in Sadr al Yusefiah which is right along the Euphrates. There was a good mix of arid, open areas, as well as vegetation. The ACU performs pretty well there if it's sun bleached. Or you just throw a little bleach into a bucket of water & wring some of the color out. Multicam for the win though.
All good and well...too bad the department of defense is run by retards....hence the Army still utilizes the ACUs....which in my opinion should never have seen the light of day.
Aye we did. Called Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP). It's basically a more tiger stripe pattern (Similiar to the current DPM) with Multicam colours. First British unit to deploy with it is 4 Mechanized Brigade from April 2010. A few other countries have had it, normal multicam that is, as standard issue for a while as well. A long with various SF outfits that have used it for years.
I've been looking around on a couple different sites and I can't find the uniforms that use the velcro patches used in this video. Where do I have to go to get the uniforms with a place for name, rank, and organization patches?
Many parts of Afghanistan are actually quite green. A patrol can travel through a desert terrain in one minute and be in a very green environment the next minute. Finding a cammo pattern that works in both environments seems to be pretty difficult but it looks like they finally settled on a highly advanced digital pattern. I don't know if they're getting it out to our troops fast enough though.
Multicam actually out peformed ACU and was the 3nd best idea of CAMO , replacement , this is actually that camo that the army wanted but rejected because of the price , and it wasn't digtalized either. but sooner or later this will be the Army , standard camo from what i keep hearing from Spec ops guys , and Army future forces warriors conjection , and is already being used in Afghanistan.
so figure out yourself Multicam well pretty much Out performe any camo in multi - envoriments.
im sorry but your confusing me sometimes when you say multicam ACUs because to me thats like your saying- "when you wear your blue, orange combat uniform you will . . . ."

Crye Associates is a better brand than Tru-spec, their colors don't fade as quickly.
However I even doubt the army will switch over to multi-cam anytime soon. Seeing how the military rather spend most of it's budget on new aircraft and ships. The best choice I think the army should do is re-issue the old tri-desert camo. There's tons of it lying around. Heck, even our spec ops still use the old bdu's.
unfortunately it's not likely that those will make it to mainstream soldiers, the army used them for the ffw program because they had a ton left over from the uniform trials where it lost to the ACU likely due to its' high cost. From whsat I understand there is a patent on it that requires a fee to go to "crye precision" for every uniform. This is another reason why we probably wont see any regular joes in the army wearing multicam, at least until the patent wears out.

Multicam's good and all, but ACU would be more appropriate for rocky terrain and Urban terrain, but of coarse, multi works hella good for everything else.
That camouflage is mis-labelled as an "universal army camouflage" (pass the antacids, please). Many of us refer to it as ACUPAT to not participate in the "universal" camo lie.
Hi, I love your videos. I'm in high school and I want to get a commission and join the army. I was wondering, if you're an officer in the army, can you issue/allow your men to wear the tactical response uniform? It's the exact same thing as the ACU except it's got the old patterns such as tri-color desert and woodland. Opsgear sells them; they look awesome.
Where did you get the MC nametapes from? I heard that for TRU-SPEC ACUs you need a 5inch tape instead of a 6inch, and that 1800nametape do such a tape.
Also, is that MC ACU in your vid 65/35 poly/cotton or 50/50 poly/cotton?
I have used this stuff in many environments. The only places it sticks out are "main black" or "black rock" environments. I have personally used it in jungles, woodlands, desert/scrubland, beachheads and a 2 urban settings with fantastic results. You know the shit is good when all you have to do is halt and kneel and they have to really search to make you out.
The key to MC is wash it and when you get there dress it out with local soil. Yup...rub dirt on it. You want great kit? Buy this.
@06xb9r You will for sure Australia recently got the rights to develop our own, so we could see a coalition wearing multicam in different patterns/variations.
you cant see Marine when we're in our MarPats. i think the secretary of the Army needs to get a better idea for men patrolling the streets of Ramadi. i did 2 tours over there (2004-2005 and 2006-2007) and idk if it was lack of training or what, but if we were in contact, the grunts of the Army were always the first to get hit. and when they went prone, the ACUs got stained with dirt and u couldnt remove it.
Army dismounted TTP is superior to USMC clusterfucking (message me and I'll elaborate); however BAD CAMOUFLAGE will negate even the best movement techniques and ACUPAT ACUs is very bad daylight visual camouflage, thanks for writing in your honest observations, maybe more Soldiers and Unit Commanders will "grow a pair" and start wearing Multi-Cam ACUs as some already do...
It's amazing how poorly understood camouflage and it's effects are. The next step (if you read about how the brain processes information) would be to tier the levels of light and dark. The brain assumes light comes from above, even when you're upside down the brain will still orientate this for you. They need to design this cam to confuse the light distribution angles. I do it to my ghillie get ups, and I feel it helps in many situations.
i wish th Marine Corps had that kind of camo. It looks pretty cool. But then again; the desert-tan Marine uniforms are more effective than the Army's Grey.
U.S. Army units are wearing multi-cam ACUs in combat NOW.
What are they going to do to you?
Send you to Iraq/Afghanistan?
There comes a time when one has to do what it takes to WIN and fuck regulations written by fucktards incompetents. I want to be totally clear about this. BULLSHIT in any human organization has to be OPENLY RESISTED and condemned and if careeers suffer that's too damn bad, the whole point of being a pro; TO CREATE EXCELLENCE. You can't do that yes-manning BS.
thanks... but in germany for example they prohibit anything thats not allowed by the armed forces HQ... so here just issued and bought from the military supply is allowed... and there are no different camotypes available... so i wondered...
In the german army you are allowed to wear anything that fits by color and look with the regular uniform/gear. so u can buy olive or flecktarn gear and use it and make life easier in the field
expect ur captain forbids it for your unit
Kein Plan in welcher ZDv das jez nochma stand aber bei uns durfte man Kampfmittelwesten, private Stiefel, Handschuhe, Schals, Wollmützen etc benutzen
Can you issue/allow your men the Tactical Response Uniform? It's the exact same design except it's got the old patterns including tri-color desert and woodland. Are you allowed to do that as an officer?
thanks... you posted your reply three times... and i wondered because in germany you are not allowed to wear anything thats not allow by the armed forces HQ... so issued or bought by the military supply...
I posted my reply 3x because its a matter of life and death. NO HUMAN ORGANIZATION HAS THE RIGHT TO ORDER ANYONE TO THEIR DEATHS when it has divorced itself from reality. When an outfit stops basing its actions on FACTS and REALITY then all bets are off and its time for the pros to act on their solemn oath to WE THE PEOPLE and put the good of the service before their egocareers and condemn the BS and get rid of it.

Do you think you are a camouflage tester? Wear it in desert area and after in woodland area. That would be great. And dou you have the water proof parka? I wanna see it `cause i`ll buy a multicam uniform soon. Perhaps i can show you then multicam in german forest**
If there are assholes in your military unit they will go beserk if you took common-sense initiative like spray-painting your gear. The WW2 generation would do it anyway; today's generation is desperate to fit in.
If you spray-painted your TA-50 (web gear) when you turned it in, it would be rejected and you'd have to pay for it or go buy a virgin set to turn in. No problemo.
My advice is buy your own TA-50 anyway and do what is tactically sound and fuck the incompetent bureaucrats wanting to get me and my men get killed with crap gear. At turn in time, I just give them their crap gear back.
Sadly, the egomaniac USMC refused to keep on wearing 3-color DCUs which work as camouflage in Iraq and prevent fratricide problems; now they are at risk of being shot by the Army whenever they wander around without telling folks (a real problem in Afghanistan). Army ACUPAT doesn't work as desert camouflage like 3-color DCUs do; now we stand-out, too; both outfits are wrong and should be wearing Multi-Cam and/or reversible ACUs
you do know this camo was designed for urban tarrian right? the MARPAT was for desert not ACUPAT.... not saying multicam is bad... its still THE BEST camo ever.
Maneuver Soldiers would get constantly stuck in a full ghillie suit since they cannot just move by slow stalking...something less than a ghillie and far better than strip-less ACUs is needed
Retired General Peter Schoomaker IS an IDIOT. He's also criminally negligent for selecting ACUPAT when he knew damn well it doesn't work as effective camouflage.
yes but I don't realy think army will bring this fantastic camo in Iraq because they choose ACU. I don't know why but I think they are a little bit stupid because MULTI-CAM own them all...
I totally agre with you!! I think some "arm chair general" or pogue REMF was the one to endorse it. They probably don't have a patch on their right shoulder either. If DA truly wanted to make a multicam uniform, they should have used the above mentioned!
Then U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Peter Schoomaker selected ACUPAT despite the FACTS showing it was bad camouflage and he wears a combat patch on his right shoulder. Being a victim in combat doing stupid things doesn't mean you know what you are talking about. EVERY issue has to be decided on its MERITS.
ACU works just fine im sorry to tell this but no matter where you whether it is Iraq or Afghanistan the enemy already knows your there and no matter what camo you use you can't hide a platoon of soldiers walking around with BLACK WEAPONS AND HUGE BACK PACKS lets not forget all the body armor I served in OEF 7 and no matter where we go the local goat herders saw us thats the way war works just look up the story of Marcus Luttrel and ration Red Wing and see that not even the seals can stay hidden
Black weapons must be camouflaged and we have a video on YOUTUBE how to do this without paint. Our "presence patrol" clusterfucks in wheeled trucks on roads and on foot need to stop and we should move by electric-drive M113 Gavins with band tracks into ambush positions. When we have to dismount and fan out on foot we need to do so with greater elusiveness and camouflage than what we are doing now. ACUPAT does not "work" as shown by our casualty statistics.
You tax-payer funded, parade-ground, vanity military bureaucracy doesn't allow us to tan paint our weapons for combat function effectiveness so we use McNett stretch tape.
it takes too long for the army to intergrate any change into the system digital pattern has been in the military since the 60s and now we have it , the system is just too slow i agree multicam is the way to go being a bright turquoise color isnt helping us much at war.
The Tru-Spec MC ACU in the video are made with Multi-Cam material from Crye. It came with official tags stating such. Propper makes a Patrol Cap in fake multi-cam that doesn't match MC ACUs; so I'm not impressed with them
do you know when were getting this because i just got back from iraq, with enoug sweat and spending over a weak without a shower going through canals, yes the acus finally work when their dirty enough lol. i love the multi cam i go to afghanistan in febuary you think we will have by then. and im in the 509th airborne infantyr so will airborne units get them first . i know rangers got em.
The casualties from enemy snipers and land mines set off by Americans clearly showing their selves so the triggerman knows when to press the detonation button says otherwise.
Will Army CO's let their soldiers use different camo patterns? I would imagine that this type of activity would face stark resistance by the higher ups, although I think it would be really the smartest thing.
Professional COs will use their power to protect the troops and get the job done. That's what we-the-officers are supposed to do--fight not condone BS.

I prefer the U.S. Marine MARPAT uniform. Blend in with desert/urban enovironment very well. Desert/urban colored.
BroadCastTuber 3 years ago
Which MARPAT? There are two shades. MC is better than both except in woodlands.
dynmicpara 2 years ago
I think he meant that the woodland marpat is good because it has desert tan and forrest green in the same uniform.
MRdrPROkeithSR 2 years ago
No, I DID NOT SAY THAT. Woodland MARPAT is crap because it has BLACK in it.
dynmicpara 2 years ago
Don't forget about Afghanistan, most of that shit is COVERED in rocks, all mountains...
oozie101 3 years ago
it works pretty good in the woods but not as good as marpat!
DevinChief 2 years ago
MC is better than both types of MARPAT except in the green woods.

woot i own multicam!

ACU just stands for army combat uniform. its the new uniforms that replaced the BDU's or battle dress uniform. the ACU's are camoflage
imacf90 3 years ago
That camouflage is mis-labelled as an "universal army camouflage" (pass the antacids, please). Many of us refer to it as ACUPAT to not participate in the "universal" camo lie.

know where i can get a MC FPM carrier??
voro88 3 years ago
Hi, I love your videos. I'm in high school and I want to get a commission and join the army. I was wondering, if you're an officer in the army, can you issue/allow your men to wear the tactical response uniform? It's the exact same thing as the ACU except it's got the old patterns such as tri-color desert and woodland. Opsgear sells them; they look awesome.
SpartanMan80 3 years ago
multicam rocks
fernando92srj 3 years ago 2
Where did you get the MC nametapes from? I heard that for TRU-SPEC ACUs you need a 5inch tape instead of a 6inch, and that 1800nametape do such a tape.
Also, is that MC ACU in your vid 65/35 poly/cotton or 50/50 poly/cotton?
DanVielwerth 3 years ago
I have used this stuff in many environments. The only places it sticks out are "main black" or "black rock" environments. I have personally used it in jungles, woodlands, desert/scrubland, beachheads and a 2 urban settings with fantastic results. You know the shit is good when all you have to do is halt and kneel and they have to really search to make you out.
The key to MC is wash it and when you get there dress it out with local soil. Yup...rub dirt on it. You want great kit? Buy this.
TatsuOyama 3 years ago
I am all for the multi-cam ACU 100%
You guys need both - Why not - the Marines have 2 types!!! - Multi-cam ACU rock!!!! Dude.

I hope we (us army) goes to the multicam
06xb9r 3 years ago 15
@06xb9r You will for sure Australia recently got the rights to develop our own, so we could see a coalition wearing multicam in different patterns/variations.
CommanderSkywalker93 9 months ago
I got a Desert MARPAT and ACU camos, looks like I'm buying another pair of camos to wear, though that Multi-Cam is surprisingly effective.
FLIPINOM4D 3 years ago 2
I really wasn't going to buy it until I watched a lot of videos and looked over a lot of photos. Shit is good.

you cant see Marine when we're in our MarPats. i think the secretary of the Army needs to get a better idea for men patrolling the streets of Ramadi. i did 2 tours over there (2004-2005 and 2006-2007) and idk if it was lack of training or what, but if we were in contact, the grunts of the Army were always the first to get hit. and when they went prone, the ACUs got stained with dirt and u couldnt remove it.
kong8765 3 years ago
Army dismounted TTP is superior to USMC clusterfucking (message me and I'll elaborate); however BAD CAMOUFLAGE will negate even the best movement techniques and ACUPAT ACUs is very bad daylight visual camouflage, thanks for writing in your honest observations, maybe more Soldiers and Unit Commanders will "grow a pair" and start wearing Multi-Cam ACUs as some already do...

kong8765 3 years ago 2
It's amazing how poorly understood camouflage and it's effects are. The next step (if you read about how the brain processes information) would be to tier the levels of light and dark. The brain assumes light comes from above, even when you're upside down the brain will still orientate this for you. They need to design this cam to confuse the light distribution angles. I do it to my ghillie get ups, and I feel it helps in many situations.
GnosticDjinn 3 years ago 3
i wish th Marine Corps had that kind of camo. It looks pretty cool. But then again; the desert-tan Marine uniforms are more effective than the Army's Grey.

CAN YOU ACTUALLY REALLY WEAR THAT AS UNIFORM??? in the US armed forces??? is this allowed..
larsanien 3 years ago 2
YES.
You can't do that yes-manning BS.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
thanks... but in germany for example they prohibit anything thats not allowed by the armed forces HQ... so here just issued and bought from the military supply is allowed... and there are no different camotypes available... so i wondered...
larsanien 3 years ago 2
In the german army you are allowed to wear anything that fits by color and look with the regular uniform/gear. so u can buy olive or flecktarn gear and use it and make life easier in the field
expect ur captain forbids it for your unit
Kein Plan in welcher ZDv das jez nochma stand aber bei uns durfte man Kampfmittelwesten, private Stiefel, Handschuhe, Schals, Wollmützen etc benutzen

Perhaps i can show you then multicam in german forest**

is there some rule against it?

if you are issued with the ACu FLV, why can't you just spray paint it with tan ultra flat paint?
is there some rule against modigying gear or something in the army?
M4A1AIRSOFTRIFLEMAN 3 years ago
If there are assholes in your military unit they will go beserk if you took common-sense initiative like spray-painting your gear. The WW2 generation would do it anyway; today's generation is desperate to fit in.
If you spray-painted your TA-50 (web gear) when you turned it in, it would be rejected and you'd have to pay for it or go buy a virgin set to turn in. No problemo.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
My advice is buy your own TA-50 anyway and do what is tactically sound and fuck the incompetent bureaucrats wanting to get me and my men get killed with crap gear. At turn in time, I just give them their crap gear back.

so do marines and the army dont use the same combat uniform? i know the marines use the digital marpat but i thought the army did too
123arturo321 3 years ago
Sadly, the egomaniac USMC refused to keep on wearing 3-color DCUs which work as camouflage in Iraq and prevent fratricide problems; now they are at risk of being shot by the Army whenever they wander around without telling folks (a real problem in Afghanistan). Army ACUPAT doesn't work as desert camouflage like 3-color DCUs do; now we stand-out, too; both outfits are wrong and should be wearing Multi-Cam and/or reversible ACUs
dynmicpara 3 years ago
how does the 3 color prevent fratricide more than the digi camo? cause as far as i'm concerned only the US uses MARPAT in Iraq and Afganistan.
MRdrPROkeithSR 2 years ago
Sadly we use crap ACUPAT in Iraq and Afghanistan. Watch the videos we posted on why we need Multi-Cam ACUs.
dynmicpara 2 years ago
you do know this camo was designed for urban tarrian right? the MARPAT was for desert not ACUPAT.... not saying multicam is bad... its still THE BEST camo ever.
TheRomanCandle790 2 years ago
when is the army gonna start handing out multicam?
rshandty 2 years ago
i would just stick to the sniper ghillie =)
mourtos004 3 years ago
because it isnt like, HOT in the middle east and because you can fit a Loadbearing vest over a Ghillie<.<
StrangeGermanBoy 3 years ago
also, every sniper makes his Ghillie himself...
StrangeGermanBoy 3 years ago
Maneuver Soldiers would get constantly stuck in a full ghillie suit since they cannot just move by slow stalking...something less than a ghillie and far better than strip-less ACUs is needed
dynmicpara 3 years ago
i just stick to the wonderful sniper ghillie =)
mourtos004 3 years ago
wasent multicam supposed to be the ACUPAT, but lost to the universal camo?
moshenko102 3 years ago
No, IDIOT U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Schoomaker SELECTED ACUPAT for the ACU AGAINST THE FACTS. It didn't "win" any objective competition.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
does IDIOT stand for something or did you just call him an idiot?
Pyro1791 3 years ago
Retired General Peter Schoomaker IS an IDIOT. He's also criminally negligent for selecting ACUPAT when he knew damn well it doesn't work as effective camouflage.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
Oh no, it actually does work... didn't you hear about the newest campaign? We're carpet-bombing Iraq with bombs filled with gray paint.
solopach 3 years ago
yes but I don't realy think army will bring this fantastic camo in Iraq because they choose ACU. I don't know why but I think they are a little bit stupid because MULTI-CAM own them all...
goarmydelta 3 years ago
I totally agre with you!! I think some "arm chair general" or pogue REMF was the one to endorse it. They probably don't have a patch on their right shoulder either. If DA truly wanted to make a multicam uniform, they should have used the above mentioned!
dockreth 3 years ago
Then U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Peter Schoomaker selected ACUPAT despite the FACTS showing it was bad camouflage and he wears a combat patch on his right shoulder. Being a victim in combat doing stupid things doesn't mean you know what you are talking about. EVERY issue has to be decided on its MERITS.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
ACU works just fine im sorry to tell this but no matter where you whether it is Iraq or Afghanistan the enemy already knows your there and no matter what camo you use you can't hide a platoon of soldiers walking around with BLACK WEAPONS AND HUGE BACK PACKS lets not forget all the body armor I served in OEF 7 and no matter where we go the local goat herders saw us thats the way war works just look up the story of Marcus Luttrel and ration Red Wing and see that not even the seals can stay hidden
trek258 3 years ago 2
Black weapons must be camouflaged and we have a video on YOUTUBE how to do this without paint. Our "presence patrol" clusterfucks in wheeled trucks on roads and on foot need to stop and we should move by electric-drive M113 Gavins with band tracks into ambush positions. When we have to dismount and fan out on foot we need to do so with greater elusiveness and camouflage than what we are doing now. ACUPAT does not "work" as shown by our casualty statistics.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
AHAHA yes goat hurders = snitchers.. but, one thing i disagree.. haha you can camo paint your rifle :P
mikeeed 3 years ago
You tax-payer funded, parade-ground, vanity military bureaucracy doesn't allow us to tan paint our weapons for combat function effectiveness so we use McNett stretch tape.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
it takes too long for the army to intergrate any change into the system digital pattern has been in the military since the 60s and now we have it , the system is just too slow i agree multicam is the way to go being a bright turquoise color isnt helping us much at war.
castillowarrior 3 years ago
If company-sized units on their own initiative went to Multi-Cam then we don't have to wait for the milocracy to change.
dynmicpara 3 years ago
The Tru-Spec MC ACU in the video are made with Multi-Cam material from Crye. It came with official tags stating such. Propper makes a Patrol Cap in fake multi-cam that doesn't match MC ACUs; so I'm not impressed with them
dynmicpara 3 years ago
do you know when were getting this because i just got back from iraq, with enoug sweat and spending over a weak without a shower going through canals, yes the acus finally work when their dirty enough lol. i love the multi cam i go to afghanistan in febuary you think we will have by then. and im in the 509th airborne infantyr so will airborne units get them first . i know rangers got em.

in the desert the light acus picked up sand and dirt and it helped out greatly but the multi cam would be a better choice

My uniforms took along time to fade and once the various mud and coffee stains set in the ACU pattern actually worked pretty well.
KY68W 3 years ago
What caused them to fade? Was it the sunlight and/or washings? What do severely faded ACUs look like? Can you send us a picture?
dynmicpara 3 years ago
Will Army CO's let their soldiers use different camo patterns? I would imagine that this type of activity would face stark resistance by the higher ups, although I think it would be really the smartest thing.
