I assumed, wrongly, that this was an actual Austrian anthem of some sort, sung for the stage show and movie. I was later stunned and very impressed to learn that Rogers and Hammerstein wrote it....better than most national anthems and a VERY patriotic song, made classic by the performance of Plummer and Andrews.

I love this. The sound of music was my nanars favourite movie and when she passed away, this song, her favourite song, was played at her funeral. Its been almost 4 years now and I listen to this song and it ensures that I dont forget an inch of her memory <3 x I love you x
