  • Pete, I was in a hurry to fix my bumper -- 5 inch crack after low speed impact (ice and -20 weather ... and driving to close like an idiot ... not good for plastic) with company truck! So anyway, pulled bumper and used what I had laying around (2-part epoxy and some 10 oz carbon kevlar cloth). What do you think ... will it hold? Need to shoot primer and paint ASAP and put bumper back on before work. Last minute suggestions? Or will ahawnt have to learn another lesson the hard way?

  • @ahawnt Wish I could help you out on this one but I can't because Ive never used kevlar to fix a bumper cover.. My suggestion is to go ahead and finish it out and slap it back on the truck. My other suggestion is to be upfront with your boss and let him know what happened and that you fixed it the best you can, honesty is the best policy. If your boss finds out later, you might be paying for more then just a bumper fix, you might be paying with your Job Security!

  • I'd love to work for this guy

  • i love watching all these fucking morons make videos how to do auto body 90% don't have a fucking clue and then there's PETE someone that know's WHAT THE FUCK HE IS DOING i like watching the how to do auto body video's ( from other guys) so i can get a good laugh but pete is one of the few on here that's good and that's no fucking joke keep up the good video's

  • Yo ur legit!!!!

  • freedom of speech, i like this guy. good video though

  • my girl use my car went i told her to park it out side the auto zone the press the gas n hit a yellow metal pole and it got a big yellow mark on it with s crashes. now i will have to be like u telling her "you see that" thanks alot pete

  • Hey love the videos every single one, shout from PERU. keep up the good work.

  • It never fails. Every time I look up how to do something on my car, your videos pop up. I'm subscribed to you and I only have seen about 1/100th of them. Thanks for all the videos and hard work!

  • my hands have been in bondo for 8 days now get to paint friday thrilled

  • "can you see that...Charlie" lmao

im learning, and laughing hard. love these videos.

    fantastic job.

  • hey pete do you prefer evercoat over normal bondo? because i know that you like to stick with the same thing if it works well consistently. love the videos by the way

  • @hownychea It depends on the custom by what brand I use. If the customer requests Evercoat brand, then I will use it, and there will be an extra charge to cover costs, I usually use BONDO BRAND Bondo, purchased at the paint and body shop supply store, and then on my final swipe I will mix some evercoat polyester filler with the bondo to flow it all out and fill pinholes ect.. Pete

  • @hownychea you cant use bondo on plastic evercoat has a plastic with flex in it pete will tell you all about it

  • Where did you get that DA Sander? What Kind Of SAnd Paper Paper Did You Use?What Grit Was It? Please Write Back!!!

  • @Alexander367125 You can pick up a sander just about at any paint and body shop supply store, even northern tools or lowes/home depot. the grit I started with was 180 then worked my way down to 320 grit, good luck on whatever your working on, and take it easy. Pete

  • @Alexander367125 IT WAS 80 grit you listen as good as charlie does

  • @jimba2000 Lol

  • A bit off topic, Im havin trouble when Im doing touch ups in the middle of panels(quarter panels, van doors, etc). I get the filling, feathering and blending ok but tend to get a crappy sort of matt border around where Im painting. Ive tried a bunch of different spray fans, mix ratios, air flow rates, etc. How do you get around that issue? If you can give some sound advice Id be real grateful. Cheers

  • @alwynandjovanae When your blending panels, you want to paint the whole panel and blend into the next one, such as blending the quarter panel--paint the quarte--blend into the door--clearcoat both.. This will keep you from having discoloration. Pete

  • I recently backed into another car and my bumper has almost the exact damage as the car you worked on in the video. I'm fine with all the body work and what it entails but I'm a little hesitant when it comes to painting. Would you suggest re-painting my whole bumper, or tapping it off and only painting the damaged area. If i do paint only the one are do you think I'd have a like distinct line where you'd be able to see the different shades between my original paint or would it blend well?

  • @goonzfatality you could tape off the area and just paint that, but you will have a tape line around it, and the paint might not match perfect, you are better off back taping it, and blending it around the corner, of the bumper so you can match the paint better.. Good luck, Pete

  • what about if on the passenger side by the wheel well that part of the bumper cover is hangin off how do you fix that?

  • @Flakattack2 Usually on each end of the cover there is a screw in bolt that goes in a plastic retainer, More then likely your plastic retainer has come off the fender lip/corner, and you have to replace it. If thats not it, then there is a plastic type clip where the cover pops into. either way, you have to remove the cover to find out why it's hanging off. Pete

  • got the same on a vw camper but no plastic all metal wot a pain in d ass.gr8 vid thanx man.

  • Sweet, wont be till next spring unfortunatly, but see you then for sure!

  • hey pete, love ya work mate! Big fan and will be using all your advice asap.Im coming over there from Brisbane Australia,so im guna stop in and grab some merch while im in Texas! avagoodone!

Live long and take care of Charlie, bro!

  • thumbs up for charlie

  • He the man,

  • hey where do you live

  • nice video

  • Charlie is a great sidekick.

  • I always charge more for "rush" jobs. If you need something done quick, and before my other customers, you'll pay for it.... or go somewhere else. I love doing bumper repairs... great money!

  • @madpuppy100 Yeah, Im with you, bumper repairs are easy, simple, and profitable.. Pete

  • charlie!

  • Hey Pete, who didn't you prep it out with 180 since the 80 grit causes all the fuzzy shit to come out of the plastic cover, then you would'nt have to use so much primer to blend it in? just my 2cents, been painting for over 25 yrs, but painting plastic shit sucks! Good job sir!!! :-)

  • @DannerDesigns I used 80 because of the deep scracths.. then went back over it with 180 lightly... I acually heated the primer with my heat lamp to speed the process up, and it went pretty quick on the job. Pete

  • charlie u aint teachin me shit....LOL great vid

  • What if her husband sees this video??? :P

  • @maestrosVIP Personally? I think she bullshitted me with this story of her hubby to get it done cheap... I was wonderin when someone was goind to ask about that. Pete

  • @swrnc hahaha, people always talk bullshit to get something done cheap, great work buddy!!! :)

  • dammit charlie

  • Awesome video's Pete!

  • you are effin awesome...thanks for the video!!

  • Awesome Video bro, exactly what i needed. I have a 99 honda prelude, metallic green and before my dad bought the car for me, being my first, the initial driver had dinged the upper right side of the front bumper and now the paint is visibly gone to where you can see the gray/silver part and theres a little black area? whats the black area? Also, the rubber seal that outlines the windows on some cars is starting to chip, is that a vinyl paint you can buy at autozone?

  • No my car is blac. A 2009 honda civic lx and some clown bumped into me, I manage to get most of the scratches off, just needed to know If I should repaint it or just buff it out. I'm new to this side of the trade so I apoligize if I sound stupid.

  • @novaeon No problem--everyone has to learn! If you coule buff it out, that would be alot better, see if the scratchs go through the clear, if they don't, then it will be a good possibility that you can buff instead of paint. Pete

  • Hey Pete, I just bought myself a plastic primer (adhesion promoter), which was advised by my local dealer. The product is PPG Deltron D820 but the pdf guide online is saying not suitable for PP, PE, ABS, which are the most common plastics on cars. What the hell am I gonna do with that? Return? I am pretty confused. Thanks for your help

  • Thats old school u dony sand with 80 grip

  • @lamostwanted2008 Old school is the way people at home learn, thats why I am showing this way. People at home that D.I.Y. don't have all the fancy tools and big shop with HI-Tech stuff, they have hand tools. Pete

  • @lamostwanted2008 Do you do the same for black bumpers too or is there a differnt way to fix them?

  • @novaeon If you are referring to the non painted bumpers, no-you have to replace it with a new one, Pete

  • @novaeon same step..

  • Pay attention Charlie Geez!

  • There is no problem so big that you cannot fix it with 80 grit.

  • great video...:)

  • this guy is legendary

  • lol not only good at what you do but your well funny too :-)
