  • This movie wasn't scary as much as it was creepy and errey. I saw this in the theaters back then and I have to be honest, I had no idea how brilliant you could make a horror movie until I saw this one.

  • if i eat the director of this movie do you think i can create a similar one??

  • Say what you will about David Arquette, but at least he got to be in this brilliant film!!

  • That sexy Robert Carlyle check out Once Upon A Time

  • One of my top ten fave movies of all time. :)))

  • when robert starts digging, you just know something's up!!!

"He was LICKING ME!!!" this movie's the shit.

  • i fucking love this movie

  • we needed the meat!

  • Muito bom esse filme!!!

  • FUNNY?!?! ..This was funny?! I actually don't remember (watched it a few times; 5-7 years ago; so i barely remember what transpired)

HOWEVER---I remember this being an amazing movie; and I had a massive crush on Guy Pierce in this movie...Very amazing movie...i WILL watch it for the THIRD; time this month

  • What ever movie you're considering watching, I suggest you skip it and watch this one instead.

  • this was a really good movie, and a great example of how horror and comedy can mix SUCCESSFULLY

  • I found this film while studying the Wendigo :D Good God, I gotta' watch this!

  • the best movie ever..the best movie soundtrack ever....how i can find the movie in hd?

  • i love the soundtrack of this movie called 'boyd's journey'

  • This movie is pure win. LOL.

  • okay the TRAILER says horror, but the NARRATOR says comedy. I'M SO CONFUSED!!

  • @Rhamsody It is a horror that has many funny parts to it. I mean... "He was licking meeeee!" is pretty damn funny when you see it in context.

  • CHOOSE: either BE dinner. or HAVE dinner. If you choose to HAVE dinner you will be served steak and mashed potatoes but the steak will be...... OVERCOOKED MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • This is an absolute masterpiece, and anyone who loves cinema should try and see it. Although it's better not to see the trailer, especially since the trailer ruins the second part of the film by showing us something(or someone) But if you can read this then it's too late for that!

  • any one know the name of the music that starts at 0:55?

  • @germensit1 "Let's go kill that bastard"

  • @666over777 thanks man!

  • @germensit1 "Let´s Go Kill That Bastard" from Ravenous OST by Michael Nyman & Damon Albarn.:)

  • Serves as an eerie pre cursor or warning if you will to the economic plight we find ourselves in now. Very underrated film!

  • If you die first, im definitely eating you. But the question is, if i die first, what are you gonna do? Bon appetit!

  • This performance by robert carlyle is why i think he should play the man in black in the upcoming dark tower movies.

  • love this film, Robert Carlyle is AMAZING hes so sinister and love his dark humour

  • I choose dinner.

  • Quirky, darkly humorous, mesmerizing and deliciously homo-erotic. One of my favorite movies.

  • "Ravenous" is one of the best horror movies of the 90s. I think it's a cult classic, since it was a flop in its day. It's smart, has great characters in it, and has a great, dreadful (and yet darkly humorous) atmosphere throughout it. Robert Carlyle is great in it, particularly, although everybody does good work. Well worth your time if you've not seen it.

  • I haven't watch movie yet and this trailer just ruined the movie for me.

  • Watch this when i was like 10 or 11 love it.

  • Bon appétit

  • The casting and characterization in this movie is amazing. Despite the annoying "hollywood guy" voiceover there's one line here that didn't get into the movie: "we come for a reason." Each man has his vice in this film, each one his reason to be there. On the DVD you learn some of their cut backstories and it's amazing, since in the movie you ONLY see Boyd's backstory. As you can tell Hart is my favourite character but Reich's backstory is (as you can guess) bad ass.

  • Ive only just seen the last half of it, and may be that's why I thought is was so good, but I can say its likely very underrated. Its blatantly bizarre but that's why its so good. The characters are well written and acted aside from the accents, they're suggestively realistic psychologically. Its not a vampire movie but somehow pisses all over the whole genre.

  • The original soundtrack (or SCORE I should say) was composed by Michael Nyman and Damon Albarn and is amazing!!! It is a quirky and addictive soundtrack. I encourage people to give it a listen. They really put the button on this movie with the soundtrack.

  • This was a great movie. Robert Carlyle had a performance that should have won him a best actor award.

  • This was so good, just watched it about a week ago. Can anyone recommend something like it?

  • by far my favorite movie

  • is this the worst fu cking trailer ever? what is it with americans and crappy marketing

  • @nomad806 Not enough explosions for you? But yeah, I will agree it isn't the best trailer.

  • @nomad806 just another brit.american movies trump urs so do germans ,french ,canada ,japan ,and even crazy austrailia.ur best horror and you can look it up on any list on the internet is the fucking wicker man [sing along] you aint got shit.u guys got great music. but you cant make a movie to save ur ass. oh and yes before you pull this card yes i am american.so i dont need some stupid fucking come back about punctuation or spelling.

  • look at this here mimb o .net remove space

  • I used to wonder why this film wasn't more successful. Having seen the trailer I now know.

    Crappy marketing.

  • tbh trailer doesn't have the "trigger", in fact movie is fucking awesome, i remember watched once on tv, and been trying to find it online, but didnt knew name of movie, so was searching for cannibals, but fuck, i found it!!!!!!!!!!! yesss baby, come to papa lol anyway, good movie 5/5

  • One of the best motherfucking movies i´ve ever seen!

  • HE WAS LICKING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • coolduders must see!

  • anything with cannibals IS GREAT

  • It's hard movie to sell, this trailer only portrays one side of many that the film has.

It's a great and unique film.

  • @dodgesxt It's a dark comedy.

  • Breakfast. Lunch. Reinforcements.

  • Brilliant movie!!

  • I would like to try human meat, blood isn't enough.

  • @hellstorm702 try your dads willy

  • damn rite what a film

  • i remember watching this when i was pretty young... it was VERY creepy

  • He was licking me)

  • Made me vegetarian, disturbing!

  • run!

  • This should be required viewing for any film students wanting to make horror movies with quirky, disturbed characters driving the plotline. These are the guys I'd never want to be stuck with at a camp like that, because look what happens to them, but still...the sheer brilliance of this movie makes me kind of have a death wish. I think I might enjoy the antics at Fort Spencer, have some bourbon and Knox stew, and not even care that I was either turning into, or about to be eaten by, a Wendigo.

  • @chainbluelightning1 true dat true dat...its movies like these that made me go into film making

  • Robert Carlyle FTW!

  • What is that song called that starts at about 1:00 It sounds so cool.

  • @gumballthechewy "lets go kill that bastard" form the ost by daman albarn and michael hyman

  • Thanks for that. Man I wish I could find the album. I love all these songs really.

  • an absolutly awesome movie that is incredibly terrifying! + A lot of good actors! pretty much everyone in the movie is an actor I personaly adore!

  • Love the music and social isolation in this movie. If you live up North, where it snows, you'll understand the social isolation bit, even if you live in a city.

  • Terrible trailer, unbelievable movie. Especially the soundtrack...Michael Nyman and Damon Albarns kick some serious ass.

  • 0:44 LT. BUCK COMPTON!!

  • i remember watching this movie as a kid years and years ago, only just remembering to look it up now! i've always wondered what it was called to hire it out. from what i remember it was shit scary and kept me awake at night ... we'll soon see when i can track it down :)

  • this is by far one of my favorite movies. its got a nice plot twist in the middle that would make m night shamalongadingdong shit his pants.

  • Comedy/horror? It's a movie about eating people according to a native American legend - there was nothing funny in this masterpiece at all. I thought Guy Pearce did a great job of sounding American despite being an Aussie.

    Brilliant movie.

  • Fucking shit trailer.

  • This trailer really makes it look like it's a comedy, but when I watched it, it was kind of scary. Sometimes it had its moments when it was funny, but it seemed more freaky to me than hilarious. I loved the soundtrack too; most of it was composed by Damon Albarn - you know, the lead singer of the Gorillaz and Blur. Another composer contributed to the soundtrack, but Albarn's stuff is pretty distinct. Anyway, freaky movie!

  • "it's lonely being a cannibal... tough making friends"

    this movie is hilarious

  • Watched it yesterday, music was okay just SO inappropriate. Otherwise givin' me nightmares, pure *BLEU*

  • I love this film, Guy Pierce's character is likeable as he's someone you can care about.

Robert Carlyle is so funny in the film.

  • Guy pierce is a great actor....very underated

  • very scary movie everyone should watch

  • So f*cking AWSOME! The best movie you never heard of!..So underrated!

  • god that movie is hilarious. those never-ending speaches

  • I just saw this movie a week ago, and i find it a total mystery why it didnt get the cult classic acclaimed critics as it SHOULD have gotten!

This movie imho is a pure work of art:)

  • a great movie. highly underrated

  • This is a fantastic film! highly under rated.

  • fave part "HE WAS LICKING ME!!!"

  • Great film with a lousy trailer. So sad.

  • This trailer is really weird. I saw this movie one day a while back just skimming channels and I saw a bunch of guys with mustaches, so I was sold. It is a dark comedy because I did laugh at the music placement (guys being chased or killed with upbeat little ditties in the back) and the bad guy's lines.

The trailer though, it's just as weird as the movie. The serious voice narrator, the upbeat music, and the intense parts of the film. Just an odd set of combination to advertise it.

  • Eat to live!

  • ESPECTACULAR

  • Terrible how they show him jumping off the cliff in the trailer. I thought that was the best part I had no idea he was gonna do that

  • Legitimately Awesome

  • windigo!

  • Is this one of those movies that are so bad it's good? Or is it legitimately awesome? Thanks

  • It is legitimately awesome. The trailer is dumb

  • it is truly an awesome, underrated, deeply funny, deeply ironic social satire on a young America. Not bad at all, just deeply misunderstood

  • @bknight23 plus robert carlyle is the best

  • Oh, and the music is excellent.

  • I feel sorry for those who can't appreciate this gem of a movie. Pitch perfect entertainment.

  • Very good movie. One of the best I've seen.

  • Good movie

  • The most misunderstood movie of the 90's...hands down!

  • may be. david arquette is underratted

  • @jamezjamiezpro oh i understood it. even as i sold it to people as a videostore clerk, yes i played sega shadowrun years before, also knew of xmen and wolverine/sabetooth ie: wendigo hulk.

i also know of american indian legends, its true there is something to eating your enemies flesh/soul.

just be careful what you know

  • I saw the final shot of this on tv one night. It did not look like a dark "comedy".

  • lol "Guy Pearce" delivers cool lines of dialogue "Robert Carlysle" cool line "Jeffrey Jones" lines

"David Arquette" just being a silly douchebag, sounds about right, heh

    Run Faraday!

  • I feel like eating some bacon now.

  • fantastic movie. fuckin strange tho

  • I loved this movie...The music sealed the deal...Excellent

  • not really. people survive by eating dead meat, so whats so weird about this?

you take your life from what has died, that is just how this existance is. vegetarians do as well, because we all know plants are alive, just not meat. meat and vegetation is both equally organic. same shit, different philosophies. plants may be easier to reknew, but all carbon/ogranic life is alive, so what? eat to live, as said in the movie.

  • @spadehatesscrewtube weird as in not mainstream the way it was executed. jesus y u insulted?

  • i'm not insulted. say what you like.

  • such an awesome movie, such a horrible trailer.

  • I don't get why it was advertised as a dark comedy. Its not funny at all. Its straight-up thriller

  • there's definitely black humour there, but it's subtle...like the comical sounding banjo music during the chase scene and a lot of Robbie Carlisle's lines. For me it's the innapropraite humour that makes it so sinister. It jars with the horror of what's going on.

  • Robert Carlyle was just mesmerizing in this film. It's a shame that it was never recognized for the true masterpiece it is.

  • One of the scariest fucking movies I've ever seen. Just awesome.

  • @MKO72 xD this movie is good-no question about that! but it's more funny than it's scary!!! how can ANYBODY be scared by that movie?

  • This movie deserves higher praise.

  • Good movie

  • If you die first ? I am going to eat you! lmao ur all just meat!

  • i spent about a month going around and couldint find it anywere, then i went to Melbourne and found only 1 copy =D

  • This movie made me a vegetarian 5 years ago *shivers*

  • really? :D:D

  • Yea it did xD

  • hmm. i immediately went out and got some pork stew.

  • @Gingagirl your weak

  • LA MUSICA DE FONDO COMO SE LLAMA??

  • Wow this trailer sucked, the movie was actually pretty great

  • What I mean is that these dilemmas apply to everyday life in all the world, and the film takes a stand, saying to us: Take evil, and your life will be easier. Or struggle to be a good man...and be at peace with yourself.

  • Nevertheless, I think that what the film tells us is that good people are the ones who have to struggle the most with the evil surrounding them, whether it's persons or their inner temptations. People that choose evil, like Ives, have taken the easier path, but in return they have a lot more chances of success/less acusations upon them, as we've seen in the story.

  • Having said that, I must add that I believe that the story focus on the moral choices that men do, embodied in the choices that the carachter of Boyd takes: he doesn't want to fall in the arms of evil (by that I mean following Ives and his killing spree/cannibalism) but he does, and at the end he redeems himself by killing all the cannibals including himself, and by not eating Ives when he dies first. That could have saved him, but he chose to follow the good part left in him, and died in peace.

  • In time, Ravenous will be more appreciated than on it's original release, and I think it's slowly happening right now with some of the people who's seen it, recently or not. Even if you don't care about the meaning of the story, when you focus on the actors (please someone give Pearce and Carlysle an Oscar, at least they can cut it by the half and share it!), atmosphere, score, direction and script, you can still feel you've seen something special. And Ravenous is very special.

  • This is an incredibly underrated movie I love it. All these men, each with their own deep failure, although some very remarkable in some ways (Reich, Hart)... but all sent here because the army doesn't want them. Nothing but the quiet cold wilderness and their own reflections on failure... until...

  • totally forgotten movie. I saw it one time as a kid when we still payed for movies and i loved this film. I've never seen it since....can't find it either. Too bad.

  • I see it at blockbuster all the time.

  • I went to this on a whim, out of boredom, when it was originally released completely unaware of the story. Everything about it was kind of awesome; probably intensified from being completely caught off guard about the whole thing. Not only because of the efforts of the the actors, but also the production in general -- including especially (for myself) the music and the cinematography -- which was also kind of awesome.

  • Does this movie involve a killer that uses a hammer? I remember hearing about it years ago but was too young to see it. For whatever reason, I had a sudden urge to look it up.

  • i think there is a part of true story in it, anyone who is intrested in cannibalism can private message me so we can discus :)

  • @dragankralj it takes parts from the donner story and from alferd packer who was a colorado legend

  • I love this movie so effin much :D

  • I just got this through netflix 'cause I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. It's a kickass movie, and the creepy music just adds to the ass kicking.

  • "WHEN YOUR A CANNIBLE, ITS TOUGH MAKING FRIENDS".......

Btw, this is a true story. Google, search and you will see what real NIGHTMARES ARE MADE OF..... No B.S. I just cant recall the guys name in real life, but he really did kill em and eat em, no shit!!!!!!!

  • I think you are thinking of Alfered Packer from Colorado, and Ravenous has nothing to do with that, it has to do with the Mythos of the Wendigo.

  • You are so wrong my friend! You can watch a special about the movie that will tell you that is where he got the inspiration! Also, if you really knew theAlfred Packer story you would very well know the main character in the movie is indeed based on him! Same year, same place, same man!!!!!!!

  • Also the reason the indian is even written in to RAVENOUS is so he can MAKE REFFERENCE TO THE WINDIGO! Have you even watched either of the films?

  • I have lived in Colorado my whole life and I can agree even with you and your condescending tone, that Ravenous is a remarkable & fantastic movie.... but it is not Mr. Packers story. I have been to a great deal of our Colorado history museums, Packers grave, and wrote a few papers on his life. I can see what your saying about it as being inspiring for the character Capt John Boyd, but that's it!

  • Only a CHILD would ASSUME that i meant the movie was literally true.

Anyone with some commonsense can tell theres a HUGE amount of hollywood spin involved! Like MOST movies based on true stories, RAVENOUS was given a "spin" to make it a more entertaining film to watch. Thats why DOCUMENTRY FILMS were created! To tell the REAL story about something. RAVENOUS is a film BASED on fact, wich was made to ENTERTAIN!! OBVIOUSLY!!!! Its a Vague BLACK COMMEDY, wich R meant to both SCARE & MAKE U LAUGH.

  • @mrgrizzlymosher it wasnt boyd it was calhoun who came from packer

  • As for the Wendigo, alot of Robert Carlyles dialouge has a lot to do with the Myth (eating the flesh of a man to gain his strength) and its not just because there is an "indian" written into the movie!! Now take your toys and go find an argument with someone who cares!

  • Listen youngster, first off, do U understand film at all? Character placement, basis, conventional story line sequence in science fiction films based on fact? Clearly not! Your 1st comment was semi ok, logical and oppropriate. In your second comment, the "tone" was not for you, and was directed to the MANY messages i get regaurding the film! 3rd, if you even UNDERSTOOD why i referenced the indian U would know as everyone els did, that it was a reply to another user on WHY the indian was written!

  • Continued from below for mrgrizzlymosher: The indian was written becouse the writer needed a character to explain the WENDIGO to the audience! Duh! If you werent 16 U would know that! 4th, I LUV YOUR LAST SENTENCE!!! QUOTE," take your toys & go find an argument with someone who cares". DO U KNOW WHAT AN OXYMORON IS? You take the time to write 2 comments back & then U call me condescending? Looks like U do care, & U are the condescending 1. Go MOSH some more. Maybe youll lose some more sense.

  • I am glad you can make fun of my last name, its Irish and pronounced Moe-sher not MOSH-er but it does not matter to little angry people like you. I thought I was going to share some great conversation about this film... and in that fact I was wrong... go do you internet arguements with with some one else... your the super genius and I am the 16 year old, that works for me!

  • people taste nice.

  • I suppose if you get hungry enough they would indeed taste better than your own boot....... LOL.

  • @mrtruthify the movie in itself was not a true story how ever the calhouns charachter looks alot like alferd packer and it takes some stuff from the donner party. i hate when people take a movie into consideration that its based off a true story i got into an argument at school once with a teacher from texas who said the texas chainsaw massacre was true. when you l9ook at the bigger picture leather face was inspired by ed gein

  • Robert Carlyle is something else in this movie.

  • fuck yea lol

  • i dont remember this movie being funny at all. it thought it was supposed to be serious

  • "He was licking me!"

  • man i watched the movie by accident few years ago and it was apsolutely genius and funny to watch it :) i forgot the name and couldnt find it till now :) ^_^ downloading it wohooh cant wait to watch it again

without a doubt one of the best movies ive watched

  • lol "You are what you eat".

  • Comment removed

  • It was amazing how they combined cheerful music with ''scary'' scenes. I was laughing the one moment and was frightend the other... (:

  • I agree the music in this movie is genius

  • The music is by far the best thing about this film. Robert Caryle in particular is fantastic, but Michael Nyman's score is in a world of its own. Probably one of the best scores of the decade I'd say. Too bad he didn't get more recognition for it.

  • where can i find the full movie on youtube? shouldnt someone upload it? if you do, let me know please!!!

  • Buy it, it's a film you must have buddy ;]

  • why does david arquette get a mention.

And why is his face on the cover of the dvd.

All he does is get eaten

  • Robert Carlyle is amazing in this and all his films.

  • It was amazing Horror/Thriller with unique storyline and brilliant acting from Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, David Arquette...

    5 ***** from me!
