Great scenes, good camera job and editing. If I may, I have one comment: I would not have used sepia in 0.52. I think sepia is to warm, maybe I would use a more greenish color.
@HenrickHorning Thanks for your feedback. At 0.52 I went with a warm color because I wanted to translate the hanger of the beast. But you're right the sepia comes out weak. I should have gone more red or green like you suggest.
i do really love this! the color correction is great, the acting is good except this part 2:16 thats pretty bad acting.. but overall this is great! love it! keep the good work! ~nobi
@Andalver123 Thanks! I'm glad you love it! And thanks for the comment on the acting of Ian at 2:16. He's always picking on everybody (in a friendly way) so I'll make sure he sees your comment. I have to agree, the acting is quite stiff on that shot. Fortunately he's not an actor!
This was shot for the Canon/Vimeo Beyond The Still contest. So it's just a slice of the story. In the next round, contestant had to continue the story from the last still image or the previous round winning movie. That's why the story is not complete.
@SecretDimension Thanks! :) Since it was quite dark in a lot of shots most of the indoor shots were done with the 28 F1.8 and the 50 F1.4. Outside I used the 17-40 F4.
thanx for answeing my question i have one more i want to put together a short i wrote with no budget as far as directing and shootin equipment gear goes but when i get done with it i have knowone to edit it and im terrible at it i was wondering if you edit or could you lead me in the right direction thanx 4 the inspiration
@tonedogsblue Actually I suggest you try editing your own short film. When you edit, you learn a lot about how to better direct and shoot. If your not technically savy you can get a lot done with a simple software like IMovie on the mac. If you really don't want to edit you can look into short film making associations like kino00DOTcom for example. You might be able to find someone to edit it for you. Good luck! :)
WOw! Amazing film and cinematography. Just wondering, what kind of settings can I use or did you use on the 7D to achieve that film look, and I only have the 18mm-135mm lens that came with it, is it possible to achieve what you achieved? Thanks!
@CristhianAndrews Thanks! :) With the 18-135 you'll have a hard time in low light for interior shots so you'll end up with much more noise. I suggest you get the Canon 50 f/1.8 which is cheap and will get you much better results in low light, sharpness, contrast and filmic DOF. Eventually you should get the 17-55 2.8 IS. It might seem like a lot of money but you could shoot an entire movie with that lens and it will look good. Also get some kind of shoulder support DIY or commercial.
Extended submision starts Febuary 25th so you should have plenty of time. All the deadlines and submission info is on site let me know if you have any further questions.

@SFGFestival Hi and thanks for you interest in my work. I'm working on another sci-fi short film at the moment buy it will take several months to complete because there's lot of VFX in it and i can't work on it full time. :( What's the submission deadline to your festival?
@tonedogsblue Since it was quite dark in a lot of shots most of the indoor shots were done with the 28 F1.8 and the 50 F1.4. Outside I used the 17-40 F4.
The best all around lens for the 7D The EF-S 17-55 IS. But it's a EF-S lens so if you plan on going full frame eventually there would be other options to consider. Send me a message if you have more tech question. I'll gladly help you.
@philippetoupin Merci! Ça valait la peine qu'on se les gèles alors. Il faisait -30 avec le facteur vent. C'est plus Martin qui a eu froid parcontre ....
