  • @VVBninja I was trying to decipher it through the baby speech. I hadn't noticed the "using the IPA" part. So, yep, that's pretty much it. Though I find his transcriptions kinda weird but oh well... Mystery solved.

  • @VVBninja Good point. Like ɪ and ʉ... I don't get it either.

  • haha, my linguistics professor showed this in class, very funny.

  • This video is AWESOME! It's so nice to see the workings of a true phonetics nerd (just like myself!)...

  • This is awesome! I liked the baby talk (even though I couldn't follow most of it).

And the telephone conversation was very funny as well. "No, no, alveolar. Yeah, yeah, the voice is fricative!" :D. I bet the person on the other end is going "what is this guy talking about?!".

  • @msclrhd What the voice is fricative? O.o But fricative is a manner or articulation, not a voice... At least that's what I know.

    Anyway

    Funny video.

  • I laughed so hard at this, especially the phone conversation! =D

  • I'm just getting into linguistics and didn't understand all of it, but this is brilliant. I would love to see some good IPA educational videos... I know there are some out there, but being funny helps.

  • Glad you enjoyed it, it was fun to make. There's heaps out there, but be careful, I've noticed some teach the I-for-Idiosyncratic rather than I-for-International Phonetic Alphabet (possibly mine included!). Good luck! Philip
