  • Insomnium means bad dream

  • @rocker2113

i thought it means sleepless.. okay, it isnt very different... :)

  • Numen Divinum Means Deity Divine

  • I hate to interrupt the pages and pages of commentary, but I have to pose the question... Does it really fucking matter what their name means in Latin? Or who has the more reliable answers to pull from? Be it seven not so glorious years of studying a language that only doctors and priests seem to have a use for, or looking up Latin meanings on wiki whatever; Either way this is the stupidist list of commentary bullshit I have ever read to kill time waiting to get off of work.

  • awesome!!!! \m/

  • one of my favourite bands.. very good

  • \m/ "." \m/

  • Insomnium will be the next big band. Damn... I like them being the way they are, relatively underground and heard of by the small but awesome community of people :P

    Selfish I know... lol

  • @pspvampire

i totaly agree with you !! we are unique

  • WHOA THIS IS AWESOME

  • I recently found out that a Physics teacher from our school has been a vocalist in a melodic death metal band.

  • Give me the tab of this song!!!!!!!

    Or give me better ears......

  • @fmicde You like the song? You have perfectly good ears,:) \m/

  • Sun rests on my shoulders, moon lies on my brows...

  • Yeah I agree, I'd love to hear their demo remastered and this is my favorite song on Demo '99! (:

  • Seriously, they should re-record the demo album with a better sound. They only included "Dying Chant" on their real release. Don't get me wrong here, I don't mean the sound in the demo is not good...It's just obvious that they used processors.

  • awesome epic outro

  • INSOMNIUM ROCKS!

  • I thought i had all Insomnium's songs! Thnks

  • this is my favorite Melodic death metal band. it's just the best you can listen from music.

  • its nice!....

  • i don't like insomniums old stuff. their new music is HEAVENLY

  • @sweetsongman1 your crazy, its all heavenly and eargasmic >.<

  • Insomnium - A chronic dream of ones own death.

  • ahh ok thanks

  • @allb33f you're thinking of Insomnia

  • whats Insomnium mean anyone know?

  • Insomnium= un-able to sleep.

  • @Arcane1Soldier

    Thats 'insomnia'

Insomnium is actually latin for 'nightmare' or 'bad dream'

  • @LeadForBreakfast I did not know that. But now i do and I'm glad you cleared it for me. Thanks. { One of the best bands there is, however their latest CD, i did not like at all. } Just like Draconian, all the cd's were good except the last one.

  • @Arcane1Soldier He doesn't know anything about it either. He pulled that right out of his ass.

  • @LeadForBreakfast Somnus means sleep. The "in" preposition clearifies that there is an inversion: no sleep. Insomnius is probably the adjective form of this word (sleepless), which could be used like: "Insomnii noctes" (sleepless (plural) nights). Insomnium would be the accusative singular form of Insomnius. I don't think Insomnium means nightmare or bad dream, but I do see that there's negative meaning to the word, so I know what you're guessing from.

  • @BvOBart Don't you hate when people (like LeadForBreakfast) pretend to know anything about Latin? There are so many horrible Latin explanations polluting the internet - like hundreds of pages saying that "incubus" means "nightmare", when it really literally describes a demon that ("in cubat" - "lies upon") lies upon sleeping women to have sex with them.

Ugh. I guess ignorance is bliss.

  • @LeadForBreakfast ... please don't pretend to know anything about Latin if you don't actually know anything about it. "Insomnium" means "lack of sleep". "Insomnia" is just the plural form.

  • @Supermassively Actually, all I did was run a google search on it, several websites told me so. Plus the band have stated that the word insomnium has nothing to do with the sleeping disorder 'insomnia'. So please do some research before you pretend to know everything. And I think it would be best if you'd stop throwing fits and challenging people over the internet, because it's not something you're good at. oh well, I guess ignorance is bliss.

  • @LeadForBreakfast I've done my fair share of research, seeing as how I actually studied a great deal Latin at a collegiate level after four years of it in high school. Since I have the facts, I'd say I'm damn good at challenging your moronic, uninformed posts.

I don't give a rat's ass if it has anything to do with the sleep disorder. Latin roots are consistent, logical, and unchanging, and nowhere in Latin does "in+somnus" mean "nightmare".

Why don't you just grow a pair and say "I was wrong"?

  • @Supermassively Well I'd trust what I find on the internet over someone claiming to have studied latin.

    latin-dictionary (dot) org/insomnium

    wiki.answers (dot) com/Q/What_is_%27nightmare%27_in_Latin

  • @LeadForBreakfast HAHA! You'd trust some random, nameless morons who have never studied the language, over someone who has studied the language for seven years including three at an advanced collegiate level. And you even cite WikiAnswers! HAHA! Second only to YahooAnswers in terms of being notorious for having absolutely moronic answers freely editable by any uneducated moron who has no idea what he's talking about.

You're just being stubborn and can't admit that you were wrong.

  • @Supermassively It's between a random, nameless moron on WikiAnswers or a random, nameless moron on Youtube. Let me remind you that we're all anonymous over the internet. And the time you studied latin seems to have changed from four to ten years between your comments; this may lead me to believe you are bullshitting. And again with the hypocrisy, while you seem to believe that I'm the one being stubborn, take a look at yourself.

  • @Supermassively You have been disregarding every point I have brought up by mentioning your supposed time studying latin. However I do admit I may not have been completely correct because there seems to be many interpretations for the word 'Insomnium', but thats not the point I was trying to get through to you. I do think we should bring this argument to an end, because it's going nowhere.

  • Great song.

The whole E.P. is great. I suggest anyone that likes this song download it on their website. The band put the songs up themselves, so it's all good.

  • Hey that's it- we are all addicted insomniacs!!!

  • @andershoeren Insomniac actually is something with a sleeping disorder, Insomnium on the other hand, is something like a dream ;). Just a note...
