  • We kicked some ass when we marched this

  • @BeforeIForget19 Audio and visual just aren't synchronized.

  • I think the woodwinds in this band are very good I think the brass specifically the trumpets could use work on the high register other than that a great performance.

  • My high school is playing this right now too. I'm playing flute/piccolo and swapping instruments in this song is truly a pain. haha but I still love this song.

  • Very well done! Get it Low Brass yeah!

  • the crash cymbals and gong hits could be louder

  • Lexington had and still has a very good band program. Good job!

  • Lexington had and still has a very good band program. Good job!

  • horn part near end: FAIL, same with oboe part near end

  • Over all VERY VERY NICE!!!!! If I was grading this I would give you a 9.9 only because it seem a bit rushed but thats it.

  • Besides a few minor farts, this sounds like a pro band!

  • This song is beast xD

  • The tempo is entirely too fast in general. It also is too fast for your band members. I'm not saying you don't have a good program, because I know that Lexington HS has an excellent program. However, in this situation, this would have been completely amazing had it been slowed down.

  • You guys did such a great job.I loved playing this piece last semester sure am going to miss it.

  • You guys did a really good job on this piece

  • i dont like this version, we play this in marching band

  • I really enjoyed this piece when I played it last semester!

  • wow this is really good. I played this with the Tennessee All State Band and yall sound just as good as we did and this is just a single high school it seems.

  • I want trumpets like that!! :( We played this for our contest and got straight ones(:

  • My high school freshman band is playing this xD

  • You obviously fail to realize that there is a difference between playing music, and playing it well xD

  • Well, we actually played amazingly. Such a rude comment like that disgraces you.

  • Great job!

  • great brass sounds, i like it

  • You guys did a great job! My band is going to be playing this for our spring concert and I hope we sound as good as all of you!

  • I love this song! I played it in band too!

  • Ack my high school played this and I had all the little piccolo features, i had to play all that fun stuff, goodness, I and J were my absolute favorite!!!!!

Goodness I miss it so much!

  • Very Nice. I really like what the low brass is doing on their parts, very rich and full sound, and overall the ensemble has a balanced sound

  • ahaha. the snare player is using traditional grip?

  • probably.. they have always had a solid marching and concert percussion program, with instructors who are more than capable of teaching traditional.

  • probably. but that doesn't excuse the fact that proper concert snare technique is match grip.

  • Proper concert snare technique is producing the sound that is required by the piece being played - its easier to teach and to learn playing match. If you can teach and your student can learn traditional, and the preferred sound can be acquired, by all means do it.

  • what? would anybody mind explaining this to a confused clarinetist?

  • match grip is when a drummer holds both sticks in fists

traditional is when one is held kind of like a pencil

  • That's true. However, if you go into a symphony orchestra audition and walk up to the snare playing traditional, things probably aren't going to go your way.

Traditional really is obsolete. It was created for tilted drums that were played in older wars. I don't know why anyone still uses it. It hinders several different aspects of drumming and quite frankly, it's more difficult and inconvenient.

  • Many have the opinion that traditional produces a better tone quality. I have no idea if that's true or not; however, traditional grip is used almost exclusively in Drum and Bugle Corps. You're right about a tilted drum. It really should be used on tilted drums. It's not designed for drums that are level.

  • wow! Awesome guys!

  • its good but u guys did it way too fast

  • its supposed to be really fast

  • it's supposed to be the tempo that the conductor of the US Marine Band sets...

thats what tempo di bourgeois means

  • bourgeois was a conductor of the US Marine Band in the past, and he really liked fast, upbeat music, so when Jager wrote this for the US Marine Band, he designated it as 'tempo di bourgeois' to mean 'the tempo of Bourgeois', which is yea, up to Bourgeois, and that's usually really fast.

  • This is a high school band!? Haha, simply amazing!

  • one word..... WOW. that was just amazing, i loved it

  • nice job!

  • MY band is going to perform this in Disney world in a week.

I hope we sound this good.

  • nice

  • This is as good as the college band in the video response... how is this possibly a high school?

  • Esprit de Corps is one of my all time favorite pieces. Fantastic job. I literally got goosebumps listening to this.

  • This is an outstanding performance.

Thank goodness someone else takes this tempo besides us lol.

i thought my band director was nuts..

    lol

    :]

    very nicely done

  • Thanks to your excellent flutes, I could hear my part nice and clear so I can do well on my audition tomorrow and get a better seat! Couldn't do it with out yas!

  • ahhahah...thank goodness for trill keys on the flute too!

  • superb!

  • YES! Thats one of my favorite songs. I played it my sophomore year @ CLHS. Its so Awesome

  • Damn thats fast, we only go half that fast, but we are the second band to wind ensomble

  • The auditorium is a little dry: it doesn't resonate much.

    But otherwise awesome job!

  • I played this piece a couple months ago under the direction of Colonel Bourgeois himself even WE didn't go this tempo wow amazing job!!!!

  • Incredible! This is one phenomenal performance. I can't believe that this is a high school Wind Ensemble rather than a first-rate professional one, because it's just as outstanding. Great song, unbelievably incredible performance.
