@FradisAlexPro Because she doesn't feel threatened. They will only bite if grabbed or squeezed in some way, unless if they are protecting their young or an egg sac.
@FradisAlexPro Some spiders you may not want to pick up until you gain some experience. Best way to pick up a spider is let it voluntarily crawl up on your hand. I started with jumpers then went to other spiders later. Jumpers are really easy to handle. I just let the spider crawl up onto my hand or jump on it. If the spider starts crawling up my arm, I just place my other hand in front of him to let him crawl up on that one and repeat the cycle, kind of like a treadmill effect.
@FradisAlexPro I guess you would have to find some place that is away from the city, but then again, I have found some in my apartment. They usually show up in the Spring and the Fall. They love to hide under dead tree bark in the wild, usually hardwood trees. You may want to google up "California Jumping Spiders", maybe it will bring something up to let you know what kind of jumpers you have around your area and where they can be found.
@Torn80cj I'll look them up. I might know a place in Downtown that sells all kinds of spiders. Another thing is that when I look at the spider in the middle of the video, I just say it's cute. Because some people think of spiders as ugly creatures. I think of them as amazing creatures. They look very coute if you close up on them.
@FradisAlexPro I think the jumpers pass as cute also, that's why I have several videos titled with word "Cute" in them on several of my jumping spider videos. I have some where I get some really close macros on their faces. A lot of people love my "Phidippus Putnami Jumping Spider Being Cute" video because of how the spider looks.
it's so cute. i hope spiders are not feared as they by many. seems like a friendly one. if we all could learn a lot, some variant of spiders could be a pet! what do you think ?
Gawwwwd I know this is tame spider but I'd still kill it (Sorry to the spider lovers). Even the common house spider sends me running for a paper to bash it.
Yep, I know I find them adorable too and I can hardly stand to look at another spider. I think their big main eyes look like puppy or cat eyes and they arch their back to look up as if a dog or cat is trying to look up at its master. All other spiders seem to be locked-bodied and focused on one thing. Kill, Kill, Kill ;)
Where do you normally find these little guys? We have these little tiny jumping spiders that like sitting in our windowsills, no bigger then my fingernail. Any idea as to what kind of spider this may be?
@xforbiddenone the name of this spider is called Platycryptus Undatus. They are usually hiding in cracks when they aren't out hunting for other bugs or when the male is searching for a mate. They also like to hide in or on the bark of trees, they blend in really well when crawling on an Oak tree.
@mollymousemm She is a curious spider, plus I let her jump or crawl up onto my hand by her choice, it makes the spider feel more at ease. That way she doesn't become skittish and keep jumping off or thinking that she might get eaten.
@Dombowerphoto They seem to be more like animals instead of bugs. They really remind me a lot of cats with their curiosity, and the way they wiggle their legs before they jump. Their faces seem to be more docile looking along with their eye pattern, "cuteness". Other spiders seem to look angry or menacing, even though if all spiders were the same size and were in a spot where both spiders could see each other, the jumpers would take any of them out if it came to who was going to become dinner.
@linux750 Not weird at all. I have another video that I titled "world's cutest jumping spider", if you happen to see it, the spider really shows how cute one can really be.
There's a guy in Michigan who has a video of this same species, wouldn't be surprized if it lives in Pennsylvania also. Some other guy has a video of a large jumper that he got from another country. It's probably about 2 times larger than this one I videoed.
make it jump!!

@k6yarfilms There are several people who keep jumping spiders as pets, I have a couple myself right now.

It's "venomous", but that's totally fine since you didn't make the rookie mistake of calling them "poisonous". I hate that.

Indeed, though harmless to us, a Jumping Spider is more than a a match for a Black Widow.
