Wow, I have not seen these guys since 2004. They also work at la ENA and performing. I can't believe I do not remember my own Cuban dance partner's name. She still looks good.
What you see is Columbia. There are three forms of Rumba - Yambu, Guaguanco and Columbia. Yambu is the young flirty woman dancing with the old man (even if danced with a young guy) and he cannot "attack" her. The Guaguanco is seduction between the man and the woman and the man can "attack her" (to try and get her pregnant). and the Columbia is the showing of masculinity since it is the chicken dance. The "rooster" shows his moves.
This is a great video. It really makes you understand where Mambo came from. You should post this on SalsadynastyDOTcom where salseros from everywhere post their videos.
Dancing with "soul" is above any professinal trainning. Dance is an art form and only people not dedicated to this art, are ignorant and will judge any other dancer, so as often said in the streets of New York "don't hate, appreciate" --Life is beautiful, Dancing makes is it better!
If you want more info about classes and teacher in Cuba go to the Latidos Productions side.
As for Cubans always giving a critic-it's part of the culture. When you are in Havana, many people don't work. They hang out on the streets, gossip, observe people. They can tell in a second if the dancer is a professional or from the street. When life is not busy you get caught up in the detail and gossip of every day life. Professional dancers are different in attitude though
There's alot of good rumba here online. Try not to judge what the best. Enjoy it all, dance, drum or and merely feel the clave. No rumba critics, or clave police on duty.
Only the Cubans tend to do that if you notice..they think they are the only inventors of good music and dancing altogether..i hate to be hard on them, but everytime I read their posts everywhere most of them are downing other talents instead of holding each and everyone up...Stop this critizing nonsense already and maybe then some of us will listen to you all better!!!
its called having pride in what ur nation created. Something that everyone does when something comes specifically from their own distinct culture or ethnicity etc..not saying that its right, but its not just a cuban thing
They are professional dancers from Habana.. some of the best from the Cuban dancers and performers in the city in some of the best folklore groups and cabaret...
Whoa that blind bottle move is impressive!
