Was this the show where they were all drunk and tried to get Josh from The Megas to drink a bottle of Jamison backstage while waiting for an elevator? That story is funny as shit.
I'm glad that this video A: is so high quality and B: focuses on the band and not the crowd. I was here for this concert in the very front row. They rocked so hard, but I was fucking stunned by how dead and lame the crowd was. Couldn't even clap to a beat and keep it going. The megaman theme is cool, but the protomen are a great band regardless. They should ditch the game shit and find some worthwhile fans, because most gamers are fucking losers.
@slightlyskitso The crowd was a big dead-ish at this year's PAX East, too, but I think a lot of it is just because everyone is so tired after spending the day seeing everything at the convention that there's only so much energy left for the concerts. When I saw them at 2011, people were definitely trying to get into it, but a lot were just worn out. Not sure how it was at 2010, though, because I didn't get the chance to see them when I was there.
@slightlyskitso As much as I think it's stupid to condemn all gamers, it's true that fucking congoers are pathetic. I saw these guys at gencon, and even though we had been up since dawn, had to sit through a bunch of fucking bands, and the Protomen didn't go on till 300 AM, we gave our fucking all. The front row got it and was totally into it, but the people in the back were SITTING. THEY SAT THROUGH LIGHT UP THE NIGHT. I was happy when Kilroy started a mosh so I could give them my punches.
Haha I mean, I'm a gamer, so I clearly don't think that it's a universal rule. But yeah.I basically had the same experience. I feel like I could literally take on the world when that song and Breaking Out are playing. I have so much energy and hope that I can't NOT move and scream and sing along. I just can't even conceptualize how these people were just kind of milling around and not responding. I guess the main thrust of my comment is the Protomen deserve better fans
@slightlyskitso I have to agree. They just played in Toronto, and while it was an AMAZING performance and easily one of the best nights of my life, I found the crowd to be kind of lackluster. It was a very small space and very crowded, but that makes for better moshing, IMO. I was so sad that there was barely any movement through the harder songs. I was looking forward to really just going crazy, but I was in the very front row and slightly off to the side, and it was very tame. :(
Being a UK based Protofan, i've yet to be lucky enough to see these guys live...so i'm really happy that people upload videos of their performances ^^ 'Tis the closest I can get until I either manage to get enough money for plane tickets, board, etc., or they announce an EU tour... either way, one day I will see them.
Until then, videos of this quality will tide me over ^^
I partied with the lead singer. He's a pretty chill dude.

I will always miss Lance, but I gotta say, the new lead guitar knows how to rock.

Was the first band I ever saw live, ever, anywhere. And this is by far my favorite song. Blew me away seeing this. Breaking Out, forever
