i love evrythin those 2 do 2getha. i think stephen merchant deserves more recognition though. btw if you havnt seen thier film cemetery junction yet, u hav to! its gr8
my favourite thing about the office is the contrast of storylines between david brent the clown....and tim and dawn the suppressed romance. 'the clown' storyline acts as refreshing comic relief from the romance....yet the viewer is eager to return to the romance aspect subsequently......ricky and stephen got lucky with a winning formula which evidently translates worldwide....all in all a wonderful comedy!!!!

it really looks like the whole way through this Steve Merchant is saying to himself "my show, my show, my show, my show, shut up u little fat man taking all the credit for my genius!! my show, my show..."
He's really not. Just not very often you see them both talk seriously about something, the earnest expression just show how much they cared about the show and how it was made.
wow the series and its characters has been analyzed so much already, it makes me think it will be analyzed years from now the way we analyze Shakespeare in schools. the office really is a masterpiece and enjoy watching Ricky and Stephen talk about it .
@simplelife88393 I must agree with bigbowl. I'm in the U.S. and I didn't watch the U.K. version until after seeing years of the U.S. version. I loved the U.S. version and still do. It was by far the best thing on our tv for a while. The U.K. version still beats it. It makes me laugh so hard my lungs hurt, even on repeated viewings. It is just unparalleled. When you try to compare, our version just looks like poo. It's best to avoid put them next to each other.
@simplelife88393 Precisely, it's a matter of perspective, that said I think we're better at portraying human relations and character's that are deep rooted in British culture. Characters like Brent, Finchy and Gareth go back to Shakespearian tragedies/comedies.
Thats a nice little story about The Office told by those two. I like the idea of Ricky Gervais as a success story-He really is just a normal (and somewhat weird) guy who has made it big. Nice 2 see
i think its fair to say that Karl was never a 'new chum' considering he was with the guys after the first series broke

The American version is funny but it's definitely a sitcom and doesn't have the edge that the original has in spades.

What a great documentary this is...so nice to see the boys talk so candidly. They both deserve all the success they've had.

How can you guys slam the US version... it's decent! Of course the UK version is better, and its only funnier to us because its our culture.
simplelife88393 4 years ago 22
@simplelife88393 No, the UK version is objectively better and this applies across all cultures.

@bigbowlowrong well said . It's funnier than US version anyday ... Also, the actors were better in the UK version , except Jenna Fischer ...

the american version is a travesty compared to the UK one. you cant do it without Ricky. That other guy is SO not funny in it. simon pegg is great 2

true, but the american one is sitll pretty funny even though its very far fetched.
