My mother used to call me "bright eyes" when I was a kid...and though they're romantic, a lot of the lyrics applied to us. I was her only child & my dad left her when she said she was pregnant. So she raised me on her own, all of her $5/hr going to me-- so that I could have a better life. I was all that mattered to her in this world. She passed away when I was 18 just before my HS graduation. Now I'm about a month from graduating college, and this song means so much to me. Thank you for it.

This song gave me chills the 1st time I watched it as a teen and still gives me the chills today everytime I watch it. And I mean the cool kind of chills. Bonnie's voice is just amazing as ever! This has got to be one of, if not the best songs ever to come out of the 80s generation. And might I add, Simply the BEST generation of music EVER!!! Bonnie still rocks!
