i have been a DT fan for 15 years, seen and heard almost everything they have ever played and recorded and I always wonder what song this was, as little parts of it show up all over the place......
It's a shame he never actually jumped in the studio and recorded this song. I don't see why he didnt, he obviously spent enough time writing it out, its not an improv piece. Oh well, it's too late now. He would probably say it's too "dated" or something for the stuff he plays now.
He had lots of great intrumental songs back then, dont know if they ever got recorded but it would be great if he includes some of them in his next solo album
I don't fucking understand why he never made a studio cut of this. Over half the song is on the rock discipline CD during the transitions between segments. It's the clearest you can hear it.
Too bad there is actually a good high quality version of him playing this song somewhere, they used it in the Rock Discipline DVD between the lessons. I just wish I could get the whole video somehow.
I look allot at other great guitarists. But I can't help that Petrucci is my favorite player. Its so inspiring. I keep falling back on him and Dream Theaters music. Its just a combination of everything. Even if Guthrie Govan is more technical. John has an awesome sense of Soul, as well as skill and he can play just about every style, but in his own way. He is very recocnizable, and that's what I like. Long Live Dream Theater.
yeah..everytime i prepare myself to a gig, or just practicing, i give myself an hour or half to listen to JP's stuff, especially Kindred Spirits frm LTE, love the main passage, and that ending part, it's just so nice, my ears are lovin it!..JP is such an inspiration...i respect the guy. JP 4ever
Man, I had downloaded the audio of this video off of Napster back in the day. It's the same audio, and now I can see the video! I love finding these rare gems of Petrucci.
That slow melody from 1:30 to 3:00 is quite simply brilliant and one of the most beautiful melodies I know. It has been on my mind from the day I heard it first some five or six years ago.
Considering mr. Petruccis melodies it ranks up there with the ending from take the time.
there are sections of Gemini that i don't like, ie. when it gets really heavy and he starts fooling around with really heavy stuff, but overall i love this piece, alot of energy, alot of soul.
WTF i'm gonna kill him why didn't this go on some disc or something i just love the guy and his work why didnt he release it? damn anyway gotta love petrucci #1 guitarist of all time!!!!
if anyone can send this song to me message me. i'll give you my email address, i'd really appreciate it. gotta put it on a CD and learn it cause it's awesome
man this was the time when JP was at his best guitar skills.. still young and energetic as ever! though he has grown old and inevitably, skills fly out the window like time does. he is still my no.1 guitarist
he was a way smoother guitarist back in these days, hes probly faster now but in order to be as smooth as he was during this time his purpose in life has to be nothing but playing guitar again....hes more of a family man now.
@JamesIsMyNamo it was kinda, he used it in his rock discipline with really good quality recording but the riffs and licks were all in different places
