Remaking this classic just shows how lost Hollywood is in this day, and age. How about instead of stealing all the ingenuity of the 1980's; you make your own god damn movies. Pitiful Directors, Writers, and etc deserve all the movie piracy, because they are all copy cats.

I love the movie too. What a coincidence I just found the video at Kroger is that funny. All I can say is I hope they do a good job. I had a crush on Taimak. They picked too beautiful people for the star characters for the original movie. Hope they get it right.

@cloverfield00 Cole is in one of the pizza shop scenes. I think it's the scene where Sho Nuff and his entourage come in and trash the place and demand that Leroy fight. You know the scene where Leroy's little brother says "What good is that karate/kung fu if you can't use it?" or something similar. I believe that is one of the scenes Cole is in but you have to pay attention to the people in the background to see him. Let me know if I'm right.

Why can't they just leave things alone. This is like a period piece. It was meant for the 80's, it had some semblance of relevance in the 80's and to bring it into the new millenium just would not make sense. I can't see how they would remake this without making it cheesy.
I think Lauren London would be a great person to replace Vanity in that role! Sam Jacksom is much to old to play Sho-Nuff! but they can get someone younger to play that role.

You can't remake this movie. Impossible. You can't recreate anything near the beauty this movie was. Vanity alone will not be able to be replaced -- I haven't seen any female match the beauty she had back then.
Who could relive that innocence in a role, of today. Im not saying that are generation was any more innocent, but its was nothing like this generation were everything is raw and wild. Taimak was perfect for that role, he was convincing I knew brothas that could really put a hurt on you with martial skills and Vanity, her large beaming eyes, and her flirtatious, but sweet approach, I do not know who can capture that. cats today do not fight like men its all gun play. We shall see.

It's crazy. I was born in '91, but somehow this happened to be my favorite movie growing up. Everytime it comes on TV I just have to watch it. I was extremely excited when I heard that they were remaking it. I think Samuel L. Jackson is perfect for Sho'nuff, but not so much Rihanna for Vanity's character. My main concern though is who's going to play Taimak's character? I was trying to think of somebody that could play that role, but I came up empty. Should he be a martial artist like Taimak?

Remaking this classic just shows how lost Hollywood is in this day, and age. How about instead of stealing all the ingenuity of the 1980's; you make your own god damn movies. Pitiful Directors, Writers, and etc deserve all the movie piracy, because they are all copy cats.

I love the movie too. What a coincidence I just found the video at Kroger is that funny. All I can say is I hope they do a good job. I had a crush on Taimak. They picked too beautiful people for the star characters for the original movie. Hope they get it right.

You know the scene where Leroy's little brother says "What good is that karate/kung fu if you can't use it?" or something similar. I believe that is one of the scenes Cole is in but you have to pay attention to the people in the background to see him. Let me know if I'm right.

@LeeiaL1 While on BET they screamed NEW FACE HOWEVER i kept seeing BIG TIGGER over&OVER,When CAMILLE was dancing on CLUB MTV,THEY never kicked her off because she was the BREAD&BUTTER on that show,So i was kicked off of 106&park cuz the staff alledged they wanted NEW FACES& said it was coming from the TOP,I was invited to the show by AJ&KO LOW CO and ALISHA ALLEN & JA NAYA asked me to leave,AND Terence CLAYTON put his hands in my face&said shut up&sit down& KO LO CO snatched the MIC OUT MY hand.

tHE AUDIENCE cOORDINATOR lynettee GRANVILLE SAID HER staff didnt want me back on 106&park cuz i brought a minor to the show & Alisha ALLEN had a FIT Therefore i proceeded to take LEGAL ACTION because this behavior i cud not TOLRERATE,I wrote a letter to her boss they immediately got rid of her and BET hired her with a pay cut cuz ALISHA worked directly for CBS studios they pay more than BET,well when 1 door shuts by man GOD opens another door I was on "DIRECT EFFECT" SUCKER FREE ON MTV&RUNSHOUSE

You can't remake this movie. Impossible. You can't recreate anything near the beauty this movie was. Vanity alone will not be able to be replaced -- I haven't seen any female match the beauty she had back then.

Who could relive that innocence in a role, of today. Im not saying that are generation was any more innocent, but its was nothing like this generation were everything is raw and wild. Taimak was perfect for that role, he was convincing I knew brothas that could really put a hurt on you with martial skills and Vanity, her large beaming eyes, and her flirtatious, but sweet approach, I do not know who can capture that. cats today do not fight like men its all gun play. We shall see.

@davisismail1comcast Yes, we are in a whole different time period now, culturally. There was no "gangsta rap" during those days. I don't think it will be accepted unless they slightly change the personalities of the characters to make them more modern.

It's crazy. I was born in '91, but somehow this happened to be my favorite movie growing up. Everytime it comes on TV I just have to watch it. I was extremely excited when I heard that they were remaking it. I think Samuel L. Jackson is perfect for Sho'nuff, but not so much Rihanna for Vanity's character. My main concern though is who's going to play Taimak's character? I was trying to think of somebody that could play that role, but I came up empty. Should he be a martial artist like Taimak?

yes i completely agree! i LOVE Michael Jai White! only Black actors that know Martial Arts these days are Michael Jai White and Wesley Snipes,and he's in jail so. :( i would love new faces,i like Samuel L Jackson,and he kinda fits Shonuff alittle.and i love Fighting Channing Tatum etc.i practice Karate "Shorin-Ryu" and i love it! Taimak is one of the reasons i love Martial Arts and started it,Van Damme too.i can picture chirs brown actually alittle.LOL OSU!
