@sarkhan666 any song off of his solo album is great. in particular, I enjoy "Peace of Mind", "Jazzmine's Song", "The Butcher", "Dominion", and "Dark Matter". I get melodies from those songs stuck in my head all the time. Learning the sweeps in those songs is a real treat at looking at unique ways to compose arpeggio sequences. There definitely are more interesting songwriters, but Rusty's music stays with me quite a bit.

But honestly Buckethead and Gilbert play this fast and sick yet they are prolific writers with catchy hooks and *gasp* melodies and if you slow down their fast stuff (rather like Yngwie) it's still musical and not just a bunch of exercises pasted together in a key or mode to trick you into thinking it's musically interesting. I'm as pro-shred as anyone but the new stuff leaves me flat BIG TIME
