I'm tired of people saying who series is better if we have to go by Tomino's persepective all the U.C. era is the best and I agree. I don't like fan serivce of the seires how it gotten to apoint people don't die and people fall in live. Tomino shwoed in U.C. the tradegies of war and how you get to close and then take it away with reality to grow up and move on. That's the stuff I'm looking for and Unicorn delivers like the U.C. era is supposed to be.
@Kingdomknight90 UC seems to have degraded a bit ever since Victory Gundam ended. Unicorn is too full of one kid's inability to accept reality for me at the moment. The tragedy doesnt even come close to the levels of Zeta, Victory, and SEED for me to call it a great work.

The fact that Unicorn gundam pilot didn't want people to die because he was a civilian plus the fact he knew these people and got close with them teaches them a lesson war is tragic. The fact you won't to not believe it to happen is natural to a person having PTSD so don't go off saying seed has tragedy. It was recycle footage with seed I seen it.
@jack1991100 While I admire Wing's ability to portray realistic geopolitics and war, its characters fell flat to me. SEED had both the plot and the characters to make it a brilliant series.
@bzoner16 I liked SEED too but I think the characters were terrible. Everyone was crying all the time and there was far too much of a love triangle thing going on. I liked Wing the best because it showed war as what it is, a gritty and terrible thing where only the strong can survive. That's why the guys had to be stone cold killers and then throughout the series they become more human.
Kira was for me was exactly how a hero shouldn't be.
@ohgodwhy That is the entire reason I hated Wing. The heroes were inhuman for a series supposedly on war (which it was, just not the human aspect). The strong survive, yes, but they go from ordinary men to dutiful soldiers, not what you described. Nobody starts out a stone cold killer except the deranged, and they usually dont revert. SEED was about real people in war. They fought because they had to, and were affected by it. They felt fear, pain, loss, everything there was to feel.

seed could have been really good because they had some very original gundams and ideas but they failed cause of all they did was reuse the same footage
@thecrue1011 Footage? Is that really what you're complaining about? That was made in 2002, they barely had the technical ability to produce the scenes we did see. And trying to define a series by its footage ability is just plain silly.
Now the plot, characters, themes, and emotional weight have never been rivaled in the Gundam universe. A decade after I've first seen it, and it remains my favorite mecha anime of all time.

Personally I liked Wing the best. I believe the Wing Zero gundam (preferably the one from Endless Waltz) is the best one out there. I'm a fan of Seed/seed destiny but i didn't like the re-usage of certain battle scenes. some were alright at best but couldve been alot better. I mainly liked the Gundams from Seed/destiny. Wing however was just fantastic to me.

@Amatugold No it was hated by actual Gundam fans, but loved by the impressionable teenage girl demographic in japan (which the series was aimed at) and made enough money from said demographic that they made a sequel, which was even worse. All SEED did was completely trivialize the underlying themes that made the original universe (including Zeta, CCA, 0080 etc) so incredible in the first place. Even Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Gundam, said it was an a disgrace to the franchise...

And half of the action was made up of either stock footage or... no that was pretty much it. And like I said, all the story did was steal from what made the original universe great and trivialize it. But please keep in mind that episodes of gundam unicorn are only released once or twice a year. On a related note, the U.C has over 200 years of time to advance its gundams. Anything, such as Nu Gundam from CCA onwards into Victory Gundam makes Wing Zero look like a joke :)
And you guys seem to forget GOD Gundam, a goddam SUPER ROBOT that makes 95% of the other gundams (00 Quanta included) look like pissants in speed, strength, technique, durability, and MANLINESS! :DDDD
As shown in the anime, God Gundam and Master Gundam were seen to be capable of dealing and tanking multi-mountain destroying blasts from one another...so yeah...God Gundam IS extreamly well armored.

@VoidOmega222 Well, the laws of physics can be altered depending on the epicness of the Gundam. So even though God Gundam has the density of Styrofoam, his epicness prevents that from affecting him. All he would need to pwn all other Gundams (excluding Tun A) would be a beam rifle...
But more likely it depends on the pilot in my opinion. For example, putting end of Universal Centuary series Amuro in a simple Zaku II, and he would STILL crush entire armys on his own; due to godly skill and newtype overpowerness ^_^.
Oh, and sorry if i was overzealos in the whole Gundam comparison :( I just get a little sick of some people overating some gundams, while underating others (e.g. The Gundam DX from Gundam X...)

There are many newtypes that have precognition. CCA Amuro is MANY times more powerful than he was when he stated that quot, during the OYW (dont even get me started with the GOD tier newtypes like Kamiel or Judau).
On the subject of the Zero System: it cant predict the future. It mearly increases the users reaction timing by inputing data/information directly into there brain. Not that impresive in the grand schem of things...

Sorry to come in on a well made debate but I feel the need to reply. Both heero and milliardo mention zero and epyon telling them the future. Further more it's clear the gundams of wing have a small level of sentience because sandrock told quatre to go before he SD and zero told heero to go on in EW. I think to a small degree based on this information that the zero system and zero can in fact see the future but only to a point and tells the pilot how to achieve it.
Im still Iffy about it tho since, aside from the Devil Gundam. Turn X, and Turn A; Sentience was never mentioned in any resource or properly researched on any gundam forum conserning Wing Zero and Epyon (and trust me, there are forums that will analys the hell out of gundam and its mechs for even the most trivial reasons).
That's fair enough I can't make you go for it. Oh I can believe that i'm a Zelda time lien theorist and i'm very analytical. I do that kinda thing a lot with people. Just this is the first time i've done it for gundam.
I actually have to take back what I said, i'v analyzed the strength of some gundams. They were sayign the turn a is the most powerful but I made arguments against that. Oh yes it is. APart from direct sequals and using hints in game to tell us a chronological order msot time liens are sheer theory or speculation. It's gotten so divided peopel formed groups comparable to political parties for example splitists belive in a split time line I personally beilve this, other go for a single tiem line.

1) UC's gundams have only been around for a little less than a century. Not to mention the fact that Gundam technology is both hampered by the want of sufficiently evolved pilots and constant setbacks due to war damage.
2) Look at the gundams from CE, especially those in later on, and try comparing those to the other gundams in alternate universes. Half of them are ridiculously overpowered but will wipe the floor with most UC and AU gundams.
Nu Gundam, Gundam Unicorn, and Victory Gundam make all the CE gundams look like a damn joke (Victory Gundam is, essentialy, the most advanced Gundam in the UC timeline...). Oh, and BTW, even IF there gundams were equal to UC gundams (LOLNO), Newtypes >>>>>>> Coordinators.
So yeah...Universal Centuary solos the Cosmic Era. With ease ^_^
Oh, and CE gundams are pissants compared to G Gundam (Super Robots), Gundam 00 (LOLInnovators), and After Colony gundams(Zero System...).
Both SF and IJ gundams have the specs to outmatch almost all of the UC gundams. Just check the unit equipment and compare their armaments and engines. Both of them are nuclear powered, and both use Dragoon systems that easily outmatch their UC equivalents in both versatility and power. In addition, the Newtype pilots in UC rely on their new abilities to go beyond regulars. Compare with Kira who is both the Ultimate Coordinator and a veteran ace.
You seem to HIGHLY underrate the UC timeline. It has so many weapons, powers, and advanacements that its POINTLESS to even compare it to CE >_>
For example, the gundams in CCA are so damn advanced that they would make SK, IJ, and Destiny look like scrap metal (better speed, power, weaponry and more) ^_^
Hell the original RX-78 is FAR more durabile than any CE mecha... :D
Oh, and there are non-newtype pilots in UC that make Kira look like a joke (e.g. Yazaan, Johny, and more)
@VoidOmega222 I have no idea where on Earth you find any justification for this. I dont think you are even looking at the evidence. The SF has the capacity to match at least 3 early UC gundams (with newtype pilots) without even putting the Dragoons into effect, mainly because the early UC gundams were about as powerful as ace custom class mobile suits. And Kira himself has both his Ultimate Coordinator genes and his battlefield experience working in his favor. Both acquired and inherent skill.
@VoidOmega222 Never has a truer word been spoken. UC is greater than CE and for one reason more than any other. Forget that the pilots are better or that the story is better, CE is rips off bits from all the other gundams therefore losing any claim to being better than the rest, if it was better it wouldn't rip things off from nearly every other gundam.
@bzoner16 Sorry to keep stepping in between this discussion but I would like to ask one question. How has Kira's Ultimate Coordinato genes ever helped him in battle and what advantage does it give him over other coordinators, as far as I saw Athrun could do what Kira could do and he wasn't the Ultimate Coordinator. Plus he has less battle experience than anyone else in any gundam series due to the very small amount of battles he actually takes part in before going rogue.
@darknimian It is explained that coordinator genes are mere potential indicators, they are useless without battle experience and combat training. From the beginning of the series, Athrun has a leg up due to his military academy training and prior combat experience. Once Kira gains these he does far better, see his Destiny confrontations with Athrun. Kira gets the same amount of battles as the UC pilots, and even moreso, since his genes allow his enhanced learning capabilities from these battles.
@bzoner16 Since I lack information I won't contest your point about the similar amounts of battle experience. Also thank you for your explanation about the coordinator genes, however this still does not explain what sets Kira apart from other coordinators to the point at which it is reasonable to call him "Ultimate". As far as I can recall in Seed he is told its because he was born entirely through technology (was not born from a mother). How does this make his genes greater/more ultimate?
@darknimian The greatest obstacle to true genetic superiority in CE was the chaotic nature of life itself. The mother's body would always resist the alteration of the fetus's genes and try to reimpose its own, and by extension the "natural" limitations. Kira, being born through a biomechanical womb, has the highest potential of all coordinators. His genes were given the highest quality and typing technologically possible and therefore, he has a growth rate and threshold beyond all other humans.
@KnightOfZero00 F91? That's going a bit too far , I'd say CE would probably be somewhere around the Zeta - Unicorn.
The F91 have a Biocomputer which makes it go uber fast and creates after-images - making it impossible for even a Cyber Newtype like Ronah to deal with - and Ronah is no ordinary Cyber Newtype.
The RX-78-2 would probably last longer since it doesn't have power issues and can manage with various combat scenarios without the need to change it's packs every now and then.

Lets compare Freedom to ZZ. While ZZ relies on rocket boosters capable of about 7.8 MW of power and needs a battery pack, Freedom uses ion thrusters capable of significantly more, a HiMAT system capable of instantaneous redirection and a nuclear reactor that gives it unlimited combat endurance and far heightened power efficiency. See next post.
@VoidOmega222 ZZ uses tubular missile launchers, a 50 MW mega cannon, and a dual beam rifle as its main armaments. The freedom has both a CiWS picus system and a multi lock system that effectively negate conventional arms like missiles before they even reach the missile impervious phase shift armor. Furthermore, the mega cannon's 50 MW output is barely half of even one of Freedom's Balaena cannons, and the dual beam rifle is easily outmatched by the Freedom's railguns.

@thecrue1011 Footage? Is that really what you're complaining about? That was made in 2002, they barely had the technical ability to produce the scenes we did see. And trying to define a series by its footage ability is just plain silly.
Now the plot, characters, themes, and emotional weight have never been rivaled in the Gundam universe. A decade after I've first seen it, and it remains my favorite mecha anime of all time.

Personally I liked Wing the best. I believe the Wing Zero gundam (preferably the one from Endless Waltz) is the best one out there. I'm a fan of Seed/seed destiny but i didn't like the re-usage of certain battle scenes. some were alright at best but couldve been alot better. I mainly liked the Gundams from Seed/destiny. Wing however was just fantastic to me.

@Amatugold No it was hated by actual Gundam fans, but loved by the impressionable teenage girl demographic in japan (which the series was aimed at) and made enough money from said demographic that they made a sequel, which was even worse. All SEED did was completely trivialize the underlying themes that made the original universe (including Zeta, CCA, 0080 etc) so incredible in the first place. Even Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Gundam, said it was an a disgrace to the franchise...

And half of the action was made up of either stock footage or... no that was pretty much it. And like I said, all the story did was steal from what made the original universe great and trivialize it. I have no reason to respect SEED at all, and if you think it was so far from a disgrace, Yoshiyuki Tomino himself despises it, and he founded the franchise!

But please keep in mind that episodes of gundam unicorn are only released once or twice a year. Sure it's gives a perfect image of what gundam should be flawlessly, but that's to be expected if we only get to see it twice a year. Seed and 00 brought a lot of people into gundam , and mabye if it weren't for these series , Less people may be watching Unicorn in the first place.

Sorry to come in on a well made debate but I feel the need to reply. Both heero and milliardo mention zero and epyon telling them the future. Further more it's clear the gundams of wing have a small level of sentience because sandrock told quatre to go before he SD and zero told heero to go on in EW. I think to a small degree based on this information that the zero system and zero can in fact see the future but only to a point and tells the pilot how to achieve it.

I actually have to take back what I said, i'v analyzed the strength of some gundams. They were sayign the turn a is the most powerful but I made arguments against that. Oh yes it is. APart from direct sequals and using hints in game to tell us a chronological order msot time liens are sheer theory or speculation. It's gotten so divided peopel formed groups comparable to political parties for example splitists belive in a split time line I personally beilve this, other go for a single tiem line.

1) UC's gundams have only been around for a little less than a century. Not to mention the fact that Gundam technology is both hampered by the want of sufficiently evolved pilots and constant setbacks due to war damage.
2) Look at the gundams from CE, especially those in later on, and try comparing those to the other gundams in alternate universes. Half of them are ridiculously overpowered but will wipe the floor with most UC and AU gundams.

Both SF and IJ gundams have the specs to outmatch almost all of the UC gundams. Just check the unit equipment and compare their armaments and engines. Both of them are nuclear powered, and both use Dragoon systems that easily outmatch their UC equivalents in both versatility and power. In addition, the Newtype pilots in UC rely on their new abilities to go beyond regulars. Compare with Kira who is both the Ultimate Coordinator and a veteran ace.

You seem to HIGHLY underrate the UC timeline. It has so many weapons, powers, and advanacements that its POINTLESS to even compare it to CE >_>
For example, the gundams in CCA are so damn advanced that they would make SK, IJ, and Destiny look like scrap metal (better speed, power, weaponry and more) ^_^
Hell the original RX-78 is FAR more durabile than any CE mecha... :D
Oh, and there are non-newtype pilots in UC that make Kira look like a joke (e.g. Yazaan, Johny, and more)

@VoidOmega222 I have no idea where on Earth you find any justification for this. I dont think you are even looking at the evidence. The SF has the capacity to match at least 3 early UC gundams (with newtype pilots) without even putting the Dragoons into effect, mainly because the early UC gundams were about as powerful as ace custom class mobile suits. And Kira himself has both his Ultimate Coordinator genes and his battlefield experience working in his favor. Both acquired and inherent skill.

So yeah: There Specs and research > Your CE Bias
Newtypes >>>>> All the CE gundams.
Funnles > Dragoon system (controled directly by the pilots brain waves > limited technology)
Even the weekest UC gundams > SF, IJ, and Desteny :)
Kiras genes are NOTHING compared to Newtypes powers :)

@VoidOmega222 Never has a truer word been spoken. UC is greater than CE and for one reason more than any other. Forget that the pilots are better or that the story is better, CE is rips off bits from all the other gundams therefore losing any claim to being better than the rest, if it was better it wouldn't rip things off from nearly every other gundam.

@bzoner16 Sorry to keep stepping in between this discussion but I would like to ask one question. How has Kira's Ultimate Coordinato genes ever helped him in battle and what advantage does it give him over other coordinators, as far as I saw Athrun could do what Kira could do and he wasn't the Ultimate Coordinator. Plus he has less battle experience than anyone else in any gundam series due to the very small amount of battles he actually takes part in before going rogue.

PLOT HAX - Going into SEED at the most convenient of times to get his arse out of battles when he gets
1. Outnumbered.
2. Outmaneuvered
3. Out-skilled
and you'd think Heero was indestructible.
Still , UC isn't necessarily worst off technology-wise. They have EXAM , ALICE , Biocomputers , Psycho Frames , IF Shield and stuff like that.

@darknimian It is explained that coordinator genes are mere potential indicators, they are useless without battle experience and combat training. From the beginning of the series, Athrun has a leg up due to his military academy training and prior combat experience. Once Kira gains these he does far better, see his Destiny confrontations with Athrun. Kira gets the same amount of battles as the UC pilots, and even moreso, since his genes allow his enhanced learning capabilities from these battles.

@bzoner16 Since I lack information I won't contest your point about the similar amounts of battle experience. Also thank you for your explanation about the coordinator genes, however this still does not explain what sets Kira apart from other coordinators to the point at which it is reasonable to call him "Ultimate". As far as I can recall in Seed he is told its because he was born entirely through technology (was not born from a mother). How does this make his genes greater/more ultimate?

@darknimian The greatest obstacle to true genetic superiority in CE was the chaotic nature of life itself. The mother's body would always resist the alteration of the fetus's genes and try to reimpose its own, and by extension the "natural" limitations. Kira, being born through a biomechanical womb, has the highest potential of all coordinators. His genes were given the highest quality and typing technologically possible and therefore, he has a growth rate and threshold beyond all other humans.

The specs are pretty similar to a point.
RX-78-2 is not going to be much more durable than the Strike.
Heck, the Strike is literally the CE Rx-78-2.
The tech of CE may have reached the techs of F91's plot.

@KnightOfZero00 F91? That's going a bit too far , I'd say CE would probably be somewhere around the Zeta - Unicorn.
The F91 have a Biocomputer which makes it go uber fast and creates after-images - making it impossible for even a Cyber Newtype like Ronah to deal with - and Ronah is no ordinary Cyber Newtype.
The RX-78-2 would probably last longer since it doesn't have power issues and can manage with various combat scenarios without the need to change it's packs every now and then.

Lets compare Freedom to ZZ. While ZZ relies on rocket boosters capable of about 7.8 MW of power and needs a battery pack, Freedom uses ion thrusters capable of significantly more, a HiMAT system capable of instantaneous redirection and a nuclear reactor that gives it unlimited combat endurance and far heightened power efficiency. @VoidOmega222 ZZ uses tubular missile launchers, a 50 MW mega cannon, and a dual beam rifle as its main armaments. The freedom has both a CiWS picus system and a multi lock system that effectively negate conventional arms like missiles before they even reach the missile impervious phase shift armor. Furthermore, the mega cannon's 50 MW output is barely half of even one of Freedom's Balaena cannons, and the dual beam rifle is easily outmatched by the Freedom's railguns.
