i had the problem lot when i was starting out i had a spider III 15w practice amp and everything sounded like shit then I got a 150w spider III and a little better and i could hear them fine

ahh i see when i started i had a squire and a 15w fender frontman everything sounded like shit on it the discovered line six they make amazing amps with a large verity or tones and the 15w version is only $100 and you could probably talk them down to 80 once you do that you will hear you hammerons and pulloffs

try pressing down harder on the frets, sometimes works for me. but apart from that, change our strings if you can, that might also help. old strings get bad like that.

heres a better tip:

instead of tapping and letting go of the pick, flik it off the string, and it sounds louder and easier..

so instead of TAP-Pull off-hammer on...

its easier to do more like:

TAP-"Flick off"-Hammer on...

idk what the settings on your amp are called but i go for the heavyest distortion that my amp has and tell me the name of your amp and i can maybe figure it out lol

oh and also if you have a guitar that has the toggle switch then switch it to treble that also helps and i have a line6 amp with preset effects so i just go by that

if your talking about the tapping part then its cause i have a Line6 Amp so it has a killer distortion effect that makes it easy to do tapping solos lol if you have any other questions just let me know lol XD
