It's almost like Street Fighter IV in the sense that the controls are mostly the same. In SF4, there are 3 punches and 3 kicks. In MVC2, there are 2 punches and kicks, and the buttons that would use Fierce and Roundhouse are now partner assist buttons. When pressed, either off-screen member of your team will come in, attack, and leave. Also, the Super meter is simpler. The 2D Street Fighter games are typically a lot faster-paced than SFIV, but overall, the gameplay is just about the same.
