If you want to see the ultimate TFF fan, check out the singer of this music video. He appears to be wearing an autographed "Songs From The Big Chair" tour t-shirt by Roland and Curt throughout the whole thing. Their keyboardist even plays the Emulator II played by TFF during that tour. Paste the phrase below in the search box.
TFF did a performance live via satellite around 1985 New Years Eve on Dick Clark's rockin' show. they sung Shout if i remember correctly. they wore all black. does anyone have that performance on video? if yes please post it....tnx
I cannot believe this is not playback! This song is closer to me than almost any other song. It says the things I don't always have the courage to say. Love you Roland and Curt.
I WOULD TAKE THIS OVER ALL THAT DAMN GANGSTA RAP PLAYING ALL OVER, I WAS BORN IN 1972 SO THIS IS MY KIND OF MUSIC, I DO LIKE HIP HOP BUT STILL ,THIS IS THE BEST..
Whenever someone makes a comment on how music was better in past decades (luladavid) it tends to be because those people are ignorant of the music actually being produced and they stopped being into music after they're youth. Which is why you got people who know a lot about 80s music and nothing about modern music aside from what gets the media attention.
but whatever, thats just my rant. Great song, great energy when they play live. I like seeing Curt sing along.
@GetterRay Its like music has done a full loop and cant go anywhere else, the 70's maxed out the rock guitar the 80's maxed out the synth and the 90's played with sampling and now its all about rapping and to hell with the instruments all together.
@GetterRay I rant about music now because it's got no substance to it. When I listen to music I want to hear something that's got a lot of substance and artists who have swagger. I don't really want to listen to now artists because they have people behind them telling them which way to piss. :( Tears For Fears never let anybody tell them which way to piss. :(
@devilbronxxx Roland has his genius moments and this is just one of the moments. Ian is right though. You can tell when Roland is really giving something. :)
I very much prefer to hear them live (meaning no miming or playbacks) because I find Roland puts so much more emotion into his songs. They are amazing. I think if your album is good and your live act is even better... that's when you know you're listening to one of the greatest musicians/bands of all time.
@minily They actually hated having to fake it on stage. All of the bands that were on shows like Top of the Pops were subjected to miming on stage and they all hated having to do it.
I know that I love hearing Roland and Curt's voices together. They have two different sets of voices that harmony wise blend so well together. :)
@CelesteK I know and I love them for that. It's always so obvious when they are lip singing... Roland laughs all the time! (I'm thinking Shout - MTV awards... and that australian show... Roland just burst out laughing like crazy while the record was still playing... lol.) They never take it seriously. Got to love them!
@minily I think that when Roland has something that he wants to say or if Curt has something that he wants to say they both say it and they say it really well. :)
It's so remarkable to hear someone sound just like the album live!!!! Tears For Fears is an amazing band I'm glad i was alive during the 80's when music was REAL music!

Tears For Fears were a super group in their day. They had meaningful lyrics to their songs, and surpassed the manufactured of bands.
Tears For Fears did have depth to their music. Music scholers if you ask me.
It's interesting to see this live footage and see just how good Tears For Fears sound live.

It might be rightful to call them music schloers.

It's the only version of the song that you could have ever done. Others have tried to match the quality of this song and they failed miserably. :)

First question: why bother having a drummer onstage if you're just going to use the drum machine anyway?
Second question: why did they cut out the guitar solo?
