  • your desktop is dell

  • @TheDownload456 My monitor is Dell ;) Only thing that Dell do right :)

  • Do you think you will be getting a new desktop soon?

  • I've got a quick question is the MacBook pro yours or does it belong to your college?

  • Interesting comparisons matey - would be interesting to see how the Mac Book Pro compares with the video-editting etc for YouTube stuff.. :)

  • @itsmynaturalcolour which of these two fine machines do you like more as for everyday use? (8

  • @GalacticRobotGeek The Mac Pro is my everyday machine because I prefer desktops in general :) Mainly due to the flexibility and the hard drive capabilities. :)

  • Awesome video as always. My brother has a macbook pro and ive used the mac pro many times, and i still preffer the mac pro. (:

  • Don't you find the 4GB ram a bit limiting? I've got 4GB in my MBP and it uses around 45 - 50% at idle with a few small apps open...

  • @dnbfix Yepp, EXTREMELY limiting.

  • Your old stuff could be my new stuff :P ;)

  • haha i thought youve got OS 9 on your macbook pro xD

  • that sucks the new macbook pro refresh just came

  • @Athelete1697 not much of a difference though! But that's just the joys of hardware, happens with everything.

  • im saving at the minute for a mac pro. Do you think the mac pro is future proof and if so how long? Do you rate scrumpymacs?

  • @GeekDownload Yes i REALLY do, especially the 2009 / 2010 models. If you look at the 2006 / 2007 Mac Pro today, many people are still using it with absolutely ZERO support issues, and that machine is 5 years old. The Mac Pro is safe :) I rate Scrumpymacs very highly. I think they're excellent at what they do. They're products are more expensive than stand-alone eBay sellers, but you get what you pay for when it comes to reliable service.

  • Great video, as always. But I'm curious about the graphics card specs on your MacBook Pro. Did you get the newer 6770M as said in the description despite your model being the "Early 2011"?

  • @AerosauruS Hey man! :) Idiotically, I was totally unaware that they'd bumped up the specs in the MacBook Pro, so I just copied the graphics off the Apple site. I have the 6750M. I've read up on it and the difference is pretty next to nothing (so I've heard.) Thanks for watching :)

  • @ItsMyNaturalColour OK, cool. :) Instead of a 2008 Mac Pro which I had planned for earlier, I too decided to go for a new MacBook Pro. It's in transit this very moment and I'm very excited - it will be my first brand new Mac. :)

  • @AerosauruS That's awesome! :) I hope you enjoy it.. They're lovely machines. I use my Mac Pro for pretty much everything, so the MacBook Pro is reserved for the road. Like I said in the video, it's lovely to have very similar speeds on the road and on the desktop :)

  • Do you prefer glossy or matte?

  • @iTechEverything I actually prefer matte.. I would've loved to have the matte version of the MacBook Pro, but there were some complications when they ordered my machine. I'm very glad my Dell is matte :)

  • @ILethalHL For the last 3 years I've worked as a lighting technician and projectionist in my local theatre & cinema...

  • @ILethalHL I bought the Mac Pro second hand from eBay, and I waited for a really good deal to turn up. In order to get enough money to buy it, I sold my PowerMac G5, MacBook, Macintosh SE and lots more things. I also saved up all of my wages for about 4 or 5 months. As for the MacBook Pro, it was given to me as a visual aid to make sure that I get the most out of the next 2 years of college, and so that my visual impairment effects me during learning as little as possible.

  • My 1GHz Fusion netbook boots in 40 secs, 7 secs slower than your MBP but 5 seconds faster than your Mac Pro.

It's a silly test. Fun but silly :)

Your MBP with i7 4-core/8-thread Sandy is going to be faster than the old dual proc Core 2 Quad Mac Pro in the majority of applications. Sandy is in a whole different league to Core 2 :)

  • @Aaronage1 His Mac Pro is using 2 quad core Xeons, so he has 8 cores. That thing will still beat the crap out of his MacBook Pro for anything CPU and RAM intensive, but the performance gap considering their form factor just shows how far tech has come in just a few years.

  • @TalesOfWar Actually both the 2011 2.2 i7 MacBook Pro and the 2008 dual 2.8 Mac Pro scores rather similar in Geekbench. And Geekbench measures only CPU and RAM performance.
