Perfect answer. What is missing though, is the rational behind the haters. Lebron left CC because CC wasn't concerned about winning a championship, but concerned about selling tickets. LJ sold tickets and when he left, he hampered ticket sales. That's why the hater letter came about, like LJ really wanted death threats. White folks followed suit in their support of an imagined white aristocracy in their condemnation of LJ.

This is really true about all entertainment none of it has any REAL barring on our actual lives and theres no reason to get emotionally invested in it, especially sports. But it's alot funner when when we do invest our time, money,emotions and energy in it because then it MAKES it important to us. Thats why when people tell me they're not big sports fans or think it's stupid I don't take it personally. It is what it is.

And who's to say what jobs "actually help people"? AND, who is anyone to say what job a person should or should not have? Many professional athletes have worth wile charities and programs that give back to the community. And it's not just all writing checks.

As an educator myself I definitely know the value of education and always preach/teach/encourage that as option number one. However, I would never knock sports which opens up many avenues for youth. Also, I'm not going to go in the critical role that sports play in the social development of kids...that's for my other soapbox.
