slater as well as martinez are true surfers, utilizing all points of the way and making sure that every makeable sections includes a turn. yeah, new maneuvers are being executed which change the style of modern surfing and what people want to see, but the best surfing is done with maneuvers existing on the wave with continous flawlessness. nowadays a number of "surfers", s-turn and pump an entire makeable section, were multiple turns couldve been done. this video my friends is surfing
@savagejbgfk completely agree...thats what I base my surfing on speed power and flow..but I do like to mix in airs but doing air reverses every wave like kolohe is boring id rather watch powerful precise turns and surfing the wave start to finish..andy irons was good at this he was a complete package and someone I look up to
he's doing the same turns over and over, anyone and their mother can surf backside like that, this would of been good surfing 20 years ago. BORING!!!!
@Davesposse, that's right, mix it up with spins,... wiggles are happening as we speak anyhow. In this video it's 1980's surfing with modern equipment.
@Davesposse No,....want him to include spins and airs, I didn't bring up wiggles, you did. This is great carve surfing though, but it needs more for modern cutting edge standards, hence airs and spins, not necessarily wiggles. And yes, even airs of the same type can get boring to watch, so, the deal is, is you gotta mix it up with a full bag of tricks, - different spins, different airs, different slides, different carves, different power gouges, different 'man' turns, trims.Renaissance surfing.
@TheFartWorks Did see Ratboy do one of the biggest double-grab airs ever into roundhouse cutback out at the rivermouth section, but above statement still stands.
Best surfing I ever saw was Bobby at 2x overhead pitting Tarauntulas

too many boring maneuvers, needs some 180 air to wave-face-spin down-the-line moves, made famous by the Santa Cruz rippers of the early to mid 90's.
