After having the privilege (or misfortune... forever Negative) of seeing Type O live 20 times from 1994-2009, the only thing that would make this particular footage of World Coming Down even better would be if they'd done the 'Dear Prudence' ending that they added during the last few years. Live this song was already somewhat of a religious experience... but with the addition of Dear Prudence, it became absolute brilliance. Miss ya Pete...
I'm a MASSIVE TYPE O NEGATIVE FAN!! & ever since Peter's death on April 14th/2010 I can't get over how many people's live's were affected by Pete Steele & Type O Negative! They are my all time favorite band & they are my life, there just isn't enough words to put together how much Pete meant to me. Peter was the reason I started learning bass guitar back in 1990 & starting a band. There's so many bands out there today that sound so alike, but Type O- is in a class of their complete own! When you
Add another one to the pool of those affected by Pete. My friend found out a while ago that they were relatives. You can imagine just how crushed she was - and still is - by the fact that she found out only after his death :(
@turbotrauma Becouse there Is almost no market left for "real" music now days, that´s why. Just watch MTV for christ sake. Mainstream bs 24/7...imo, MTV died In the mid 90s. Way back In time, one could watch Sepultura, Slayer and Megadeth around lunch time.

@turbotrauma But I get what you're saying. This band is absolutely one of a kind and my personal all time favorite band right next to Morphine and Pink Floyd.
Pete want it to die he said everytime he got the chance in all the interviews but fuck he was a hell of musician,he had that special view of things that anybody in the music cant match. RIP maestro.
Man I wish I had found out about these guys a few years ago when Pete was still alive..... Some of the best and most real music I have ever heard. I would have loved to see Type O Negative in concert.

There is nothing more naked and devastating. Pete will live forever and I will never stop listening to this. Kenny owns this too. Josh is a fucking God on this. Johnny is exact and perfect. These are your GODS!!!

Don't like the music? Don't listen! Meeting Peter was meeting a great man!!! If you never saw Type O live, you missed a great show and an awesome time!
the song is about playing live and singing live to people about his real problems i.e. drug addiction, hence "i know im the one who brought it down", Peter lyrically was a genius.
I met Peter Steele after a show.... I'm 5 10, 240, and felt like a midget next to him. He took a photo with me and put his hand on my sholuder.... His hand was the size of a baseball glove.
great great video. one of the better performances ive seen recorded from them, but damn! someone needs their volume pulled down a bit. im looking at you mr. silver. particularly in the section with the monks chanting.
Thank goodness in one sense he never became too long lived like Cliff Richard - imagine him bringing Wimbledon to a halt for 30 minutes with a redition of this!
Here I am once again listening to T.o.N. after a 12 hour work day an 8 hour drive and 2.5 hours of sleep knowing i need to work my weekend away again on 12 hour days.... This was the best part of getting back home. I'd do it all over again if i had to to get to this part of it.
Is it just me or is the entire "World Coming Down" album perfect for kickin' back & drinkin' a few. God, I hate you Peter...off to a better place & left us all here without hardly enough of your crappy music to keep us all sane! lol ;)
@Chigirlism ,,,u said it best,,,world coming down is a masterpiece,,has the same kinda melodic feel as october rust, but its heavier and darker,,just an awesome album,,,right on!!!!!!!!!!!
It's obvious from this song that the band always remained true to themselves...even though they only enjoyed popularity with the mainstream, for what, a few minutes? I just love that their songs are so LOOOONG! The epicness never ends.. so awesome. Unfortunately, my brothers are the only others I know who like this band. So under-appreciated :-(
@moonjelly84 Couldn't agree more. They were definitely one of a kind. I'm the same way, I only have a few friends that actually like them. They're not for everybody, but they should be recognized. They deserve more fans but in a way its nice because it our special band.
@moonjelly84 Type O Negative is...wow...So emotionally correct and every song I can connect to in a way that not many can. It's sad that Peter Steele passed, but he's in a better place now. Absolutely love this band, never saw them live, unfortunately. I like TON better than life itself. They're absolutely amazing.

Peter Steele: “After my mother passed away last year and a couple of other things happened, I pretty much got back to my faith. I was born Roman Catholic. I go to church on Sunday and I do read the Bible. I went to confession for the first time in 30 years. And the priest was very happy that I had come back to church.I’ve always thought that the meaning of life was to try to find something to live for. I might be a woman, but the man spoke my deepest feelings and fears, better than I can actually. Oh Peter, too soon, there will never, ever be anyone close to you. My Eternal love always...
3:20 - 4:20 is so beautiful. Peter Steele was such an exceptional person, a true artist. He conveys emotions in his compositions that few can successfully and elicit an emotional response. <3
World Coming Down - and Pete's fate are in there own way quite uplifting - Nothing matters very much... and most things dont matter at all... your own worst moments and darkest despairs if posted on youtube would probably promt the comment.. lolz - faceplant! Sod it - the worlds not going anywhere just us ;-) be nice to everyone
@Shithead1a ...if nothing else, your nickname= Shithead, befits your comments. Dig a little deeper and you'll find that Peter Steele was anything but what you suggest. It doesnt get any more real than this in the music industry today. He was anything but a poser and he played out his tragic life riddled with demons thru his music, and thats what makes this special. This is not just product, its reality straight from the heart/soul.
@Shithead1a i will agree that over time the innocence and idealism of even the most commited artists falters in the wake of stardom, fame and fortune. I think he hated that aspect and it tore at his soul as much or more than his personal demons especially near the end. You don''t die from behavior you can turn on and off. I stand by my assertion, he was as real as it gets.
@Shithead1a whore?.. i assure you he wasn't a whore...and anything but perfect... but you truly 'don't know the man' if you think he was motivated by $ far and above what he needed to get live. my fave line of his from, Springer i believe, to female fans =
'im up here trying to pay my phone bill, if you want to throw yourself at me thats your business'
@leonakita I could not agree more with what you said. Peter and Type O will never be equaled by any other band with what they did for music. I felt a connection with Peter through his music and it is truely a tragedy that we lost him.
THIS HAS BEEN A HARD YEAR. IT'S MAR.20.2011. WHY DO I STILL FEEL LIKE THE WORLD HAS COME DOWN? I STILL CAN'T GET OVER THE LOSS WE'VE EXPERIENCED IN THE METAL WORLD.....PETER,PAUL,DIO,etc WELL GUYS, FRANK FRAZETTA IS READY TO DO A METAL IN HEAVEN PAINTING..... WHAT A SPECTACULAR IMAGE THAT WOULD BE..... . I DIG ALL GREAT AND TALENTED ARTISTS, MOREOVER T. O. N. ALL WILL BE REMEMBERED....:(
Most slept on band ever. Pete Steele is the the fucking greatest. Lyrics alone he is a champ. His bass work was fucking good as a melodic/lead bass could ever be. I wish to shit I would have been able drink a beer or shoot a line with the best ever. Let's be honest too. Nothing I or you could have kept him from his fate but he was amazing and is now immortal. LONG LIVE TON and Pete Steele...and If I see you Kenny, at a 7th Void show, I won't be gay about Pete. FTW and RIP Pete(the best)
I dont know if these people get what they just saw and heard, or just blown away. I do know if I had a time machine, my ass would be right up in the front row.. And I would be 33 again.. Wishfull thinking I know.. This is my classical music, its just perfection..
@amy6689 If I had a time machine, I would go back to the last show I saw and changed my response to my ex after the show while we waited after the show to meet them. The ex got tired and said we had to go...he said, I can always meet him the next time they come to town...They came out 10 minutes after we left! One of my friends got Kenny to say, "Hi Susie...sorry we missed you!" on video for me at least...But, never assume there will be a "next time"! That was the last show in ATL. :*(
Saw this same set five days later back in 1999 in Brussels... Almost 12 years ago, but I'll NEVER forget that show... Goosebumps, tears of joy and afterwards no more voice... Witnessed it all just a mere 5 feet away from Pete... God bless you, Pete... RIP... You're missed but you'll NEVER be forgotten...
This seriously sounds better than the album, and the album fucking rules...I think the real drums help, but the pain in Pete's eyes, it's like he knew what others maybe never guessed would happen, and he spent the remainder of his life doing what he loved most...to find a kindred spirit.
This is one of the best Type O performances I've seen period, such a shame he's gone, but he would want us not to mourn, but to remember the good times and raise a glass. In fact, I will do that now.
How I wish Peter was still alive. At least he left behind some awesome music and a legacy all his own. This song alone has carried me through some very dark times in my life.
I've had awesome dreams about Peter. I feel as if he is knowledge now. He lived a life of despair, confusion, and fought his way through until he found the truth. Then he died, no more music, never seeing him live unless in a dream. Not shit, but this, and this is excellent. This is what he was put here for, to change people like me in positive ways with his mysterious, heavy, dark, bright, amazing music. Not to forget the remaining members at all. Love Kenny, Josh and John.
@Aic1944 I've had dreams about Peter too, but I never get the chance to talk to him in them. There was even one with Ronnie James Dio who tried to help(they were in the same "room") but to no avail. Maybe I'm just not ready. I don't know, but I have tripled my respect for Dio(which was a LOT before!) since then. Much love to Peter, Josh, Johnny and Kenny
OH MY GOD. got into type O during World coming down era, (late start i know). First time ive seen this vid. It is bringing back why I fell in love with the band. Absolutely awsome performance of one of my fav songs and an underated album........and everything they've recorded for german channel viva zwei seems too sound so good!
Although this was never my favorite TON song, I feel it spoke to my feelings the most. Hit somewhere few if no other songs could. Spark up a joint at 4am, bask in it, we're all fucked.
Peter was an imposing guy. But when you met him, he was a gentle giant. He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. The music world is a bit colder because he's gone. STAY NEGATIVE.
Yes indeed. WCD production and mixing was botched(via Peter). It had a very dry sound imo and the songs do sound better live. They were some of their best.
Song is nothing short of epic, perhaps one of Type O's best. World Coming Down is such an affecting album and wish that TON had performed more songs from it. Stil this was an amazing perfomance. Such a shame to lose a talented musician and vocalist like Peter. RIP.
Man at 9:19 minutes the groove is kicking! And Kenny? What a voice! Where is he now? I soooooo miss this group and Brooklyn....I'm glad to have had that one last experience in ATL a few years ago...just damn!
WWWWWWWooowww nice...very nice!!

It doesnt get any more real than this in the music industry today. He was anything but a poser and he played out his tragic life riddled with demons thru his music, and thats what makes this special. This is not just product, its reality straight from the heart/soul.

@leonakita Yes, Peter was the most beautiful soul I was ever blessed to know. Irreplaceable.

@leonakita I could not agree more with what you said. Peter and Type O will never be equaled by any other band with what they did for music. I felt a connection with Peter through his music and it is truely a tragedy that we lost him.

This is my classical music, its just perfection..
amy6689 11 months ago 83

Aic1944 1 year ago
@Aic1944 I've had dreams about Peter too, but I never get the chance to talk to him in them. There was even one with Ronnie James Dio who tried to help(they were in the same "room") but to no avail. Maybe I'm just not ready. I don't know, but I have tripled my respect for Dio(which was a LOT before!) since then. Much love to Peter, Josh, Johnny and Kenny

Although this was never my favorite TON song, I feel it spoke to my feelings the most. Hit somewhere few if no other songs could. Spark up a joint at 4am, bask in it, we're all fucked.

You gotta love the crowd at the end. Dead silence just standing there. Blown away by the performance.

RIP.
