How is the sound in this apartment when you moved in. I'm guessing you live in another apartment now but could you hear neighbors above you walking around or hearing neighbors talking next door from you then? Is it quite in these apartments?
I'm really into fixing up places but I'd like to know if you're ALLOWED to fix it up. Are you allowed to do things like fixing the water damage, painting, ect.?
wow 2200 do you know you can live out side of the city and pay that for a brand new 4 bedroom house in a good area and have a 60 minute comute, only foolish kids would do this insane!!!! i li v e 90 minutes from ny 25 from philly and pay 1100 for three bedroom apartment my living room is bigger then your whole apartment is it worth it?
This might be a little late, but what do you earn a month? I might be wrong but isn't living in NY as a normal guy ( no doctor's son) impossible? I'd love to go study in new york , but if I look at those prices, even in the less fancy places such as Brooklyn or queens I really doubt I'd ever be able to live there.
ppl talk smack on NYC apartments. They dont understand ppl don't have homes in NYC. The city is their home. Their apartments are just their bedrooms. get it? ..... I like your pad, its all you need.
um yeah..might u consider that maybe the apartment is rented?...most landlords do not recomend u do any paintings of the wall or putting up wall papers...um eyeah....rented.....eyeah.........
If you don't mind me asking, how much a month do you pay? I am going to be moving to NYC in about 3 years to become a FDNY EMT and wont be making a lot of money, only 27 grand a year.
Also, any advice on where to live, how to find a cheap but decent apartment, etc. would be much appreciated!
hello my name i kaitlyn im planning on moving to nyc as well for massage therapy and i have been looking on craigslist which allows you to input your price range if the building allows pets ect... so i hope this helps ummm i can give you more websites when im less tired but hopefully we can talk soon
I would guess a normal apartment in New York would add up to 24000 a year but if u want a really small and not in top shape but alott cheaper, look in the soho Neghborhood.
if this helps i think either upper east side or upper west side is good location...but kinda expencive here is a website that i found a NICE apartment on that is 1200 sft for only 1600$ a month it is not in either of the locations i menthiond it is in the financial district but stilla good location :)
lol this is going to sound stupid, but what was that apartment peter and harry lived in during the first spider-man movie. i kinda liked the look of it
I remember my first one being BEAUTIFUL with new wooden floors and very modern on west 69th street corner next to broadway. It was about 600 sq feet and only $250 a month. Totally renovated recently. 1975 And then a man named Trump built a new apartment bldg across the street and down about 3 blocks. Everyone hated it and said it would raise the rents. I moved to the east side onto 73rd and I'll be darned- he did it there too!
"Furnished" apts are more expensive of course than unfurnished. Not bad for a furnished starter apt. The cost of living is obviously more expensive to live in NYC, being of course in a very competetive, NYC market. So, out of towners really need to take that into consideration when mentioning their Kentucky apt. lol . Also, not to mention getting APPROVED into a NYC apt is far more competetive than anywhere else. Good luck
should also say that my new apartment is twice the size and a 100 bucks cheaper and just down the block.
But basically this is a reality check that most everyone here doesn't have a place like Jerry Seinfeld or Monica Gellar (unless you're a banker or a trust fund baby).
PS I heard the apartment went up another $100. And the landlord has no trouble filling his units.
good for u man, dont drink the haterade, proud of anybody that goes out and does what alot of people wont. who the hell wants to say they live in (what ever shitty town haters post from)
thanks guys. yeah, i'm the first to admit that its totally expensive for what you get.. but its really a "landing pad" apt that came furnished for those just trying to get situated in NYC. The rental market here is like no other in the US: generally, you need to show that your annual salary is at least 40 times the monthly rent, and you need to pay at least one months deposit up front (not counting the one month's brokers fee if you use a broker).

......what a pile of shite!! Why is the bathroom in the fooking kitchen? How backwards is that? You need to speak to your landlord to get a major reduction on the rent!!
I live in a weehawken, nj. 10min to Manhattan. Have brand new 3 bedrooms apartment with fantastic vew. Nothing to compare with this crap. Rent is only 1400,-

Sorry, but that amount of rent is not worth it. Landord could have paint and put new tiles on walls and floors.

Jerry Seinfeld's apartment in the show was TINY. Hardly for a trust fund baby. Monica's was large though, you're right.
