Objection. Statement misrepresents opponents arguments. The claim is not that humans evolved from monkeys. Humans are part of the great apes, along with gorillas, orangutans and our closest living relatives, chimpanzees. Monkeys and apes are different.
@JennyferJ99 Glad all that is over. For now. I do wish people could agree without name-calling or mocking. Nobody ever agrees on everything. Even twins have different opinions! Anyway, I am looking forward to visiting church this weekend. I hope everyone here has a great weekend!
I am proud of you, Jenn! You are right to leave these people alone now. After all, name-calling and LOLing are signs of a person with no self-confidence. They are actually pushing me towards religion rather than away from it. They need to try to be more mature. I feel sorry for them. They were obviously not taught any manners or communication skills. PM me about your books. I would like to read them. I love mystery novels!
@Kassidy1978 Thank you, Kassidy! I will PM you in a moment with the books info. As for your question: God wants us to take action. He is not a "magic invisible man in the sky" (as somebody here put it). He HELPS us with things when we have faith in him. For example, if you need a job, you must look for it. No matter how much you pray or have faith, a job will NOT walk into your front door. You seek the job and God will lead you to the right job in HIS time, not ours. Thats why some people dont
@Kassidy1978 believe. They dont get what they want and they say "religion let me down." Maybe God decided you did not need what you wanted. OR he said "Later." God's timing is NOT our timing. And my church is Baptist. Hope you have a great week and a great church experience (if you decide to do that). (Now, I have to get back to my store.)
@JennyferJ99 I understand, Jenn. Sometimes, people want things they should not have. And I found the books on Amazon. I have that Kindle. It's a great way to read. Unlike some of the teens here, I dont read the funnies. I read serious books. Maybe these ones who mock you should give up reading the Pokemon and Saddle Club and start reading real books. The more they laugh, the more I feel sorry for them. If they dont believe, its OK. Its their choice. But they are being childish about it.
I also look at the GOOD things I was blessed with. I was adopted by a wonderful family who made sure I always had what I needed, I have had 3 books published (novels), I have a loving and caring family, great friends, I own my own business, and I have a pretty nice home to live in.
You know whats funny about all this? I have more reason to be angry at God than many people here. I am part-deaf, was premature, have several serious illnesses that I am on 6 meds for, see a doc every 3 months to check my potassium level, was abused by my birth mother, and have almost died 3 times. 2 of those times, my docs were sure that I would not make it. They had done all they could and had warned my family that I could go any time. People who are whole and healthy take it for granted.
We cause SOME of the problems. For example, my cousin has spina bifida. SB is caused if a pregnant woman does not get enough vitamin B while pregnant. Thats not anyone's fault but the mother. Smoking during pregnancy causes illnesses. And there are things that we dont know the cause yet. (So much for modern science). And natural disasters will happen. My heart goes out to the victims of the recent earthquakes, floods, and storms. Why these things happen, nobody at all knows.
@Kassidy1978 Kassidy, you took the words right out of my mouth! By perfectly designed, I was referring to the actual design of our bodies. Yes, things happen. Why they happen, I dont know. Nobody does. If anyone claims to know, he/she is a liar. These cult leaders are just ego-maniacs who are only looking for women to sleep with. The Bible warns that there will be false prophets. If you decide to join a church, go to a legitimate one. Stay away from these cults, please. (I got your message, too)
I just joined today because I saw all the mocking behavior here and had to say something. Those that mock are an embarrassment. It shows low self-esteem, immaturity, and insecurity. I am agnostic and curious. I love to see that many of the religious here are staying composed and not laughing at anyone. Those that are laughing are acting babyish. We all have our own beliefs and opinions. And thats great. And this is not a perfect world, but much of it is our fault.
I find both funny and sad that people who are healthy take it for granted and think they did it themselves while many who are sick believe that there is a reason for it. I will pray for all of you. Have a great day.
@CallmeAffiliated The girl whose parents did that were fanatic. People who actually read the Bible know that God helps those who help themselves. When you're sick, pray AND see a doc. We believe that God helps us by giving people the knowledge and intelligence to create the science. If I was that fanatic, I would have died by the time I was 10. I have several health problems that require meds and I do take those meds. I believe God gave us the knowledge to create these meds.
@CallmeAffiliated I feel so sorry for that girl. Her parents were not only fanatic, but I think they were tempting God and the Bible warns us not to do that. These snake-handling preachers are not showing their faith. They are tempting God. Thats why many fail. I find it sadder that atheists laugh at believers so much. I never mock atheists or people that practice a different religion. We all have the right to worship (or not) as we please. Laughing at me just shows me you are insecure.
@JennyferJ99 atheists dont have a religion lol religion is a worship of a deity we worship no one or nothing we just believe in facts that provide proof and you have a good day to
I went to a Christian academy for all of elementary school, and they made us sing this every Friday. The blatant ignorance and close mindedness preached in these songs are just evil, especially to be shown towards impressionable children. Whoever wrote this should be ASHAMED!
The truth hurts! Mans been making a monkey out of himself for centuries!
Romans 1:21 -23 " Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things."
The truth hurts! Mans been making a monkey out of huimself for centuries!
Science says that modern humans, along with great apes and other primates, come from the same lineage and thus share common genes and genetics. If you look at a monkey, it's pretty damn clear that they're related to us - you don't even need to open a book to see that (and you CLEARLY don't like to read). Like many other posters on this thread, I am ashamed that people like you represent America. You're a fool, sir.
@plutoplanet Psa 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
@parsonrobert so going back 200 years are we? Well, since I am a descendant of Europeans, I guess it's fools like me who started the great Roman Empire, the dominant Celtic and Viking civilizations, and the Magna Carta.
You Evolutionists have accused me of everything you are guilty of! I gave Evolution a chance for over 18 years, and have concluding, that anyone who believes that 'crock' is truly a "kin to the monkey', to his (the monkey's) embarrassment!
I don't have a religion, because I don't know if there is an actual God or Satan, but even if I was Christian I would still say there was an evolution from primate to man, the facts and evidence are everywhere! Scientists have proven that fact for over 100 years, and you can't deny facts or reality, unless you're being biased and close-minded, like some of these people.
But I respect their opinions, I'm just giving mine.
facepalm. What an epic fail. Genetics proves without doubt we have common ancestry with apes and are in fact primates. Anyone with a firm understanding of biology cannot in a intellectually honest way reject this. There is simply too much evidence that backs it up.
Even if I were atheist, I would not believe in this evolution stuff. Too many things are too perfectly designed to have "just happened" and end up where it's at.
The theory of evolution doesnt say things just happened by random chance.
The theory illustrates how a directional change can occur to an organism, from biotic and abiotic interactions in an environment.
The fact the change is not random should be obvious. The fittest are going to survive because they are better. If it were random chance it would be survival of the luckiest.
You should read something about the theory before just assuming its wrong.
@Oinky23 Did you know that two parts of the evolutionary chart have been proven wrong? But people keep those two items on the chart to try to keep people thinking it's a logical explanation.
If they are still in our evolutionary tree there is usually a reason, for example:
They probably are a cousin of our ancestors, like Orangutans are our cousins today (like Lucy).
There are also some unknowns (like Ardi). That we have not been able to link to ourselves, that share important characteristics. Bipedal motion for example. That can help us understand how our own ancestors developed.
Scientists are searching for the truth. We would not falsify evidence. There's no point
@Oinky23 I think its sad when people believe ONLY what they can see and touch. I have faith in more than my eyes, ears, and hands. Lucy was simply a 3-ft tall chimp. It was all over the news when one part of the chart was proven to be a hoax. It was the skeleton of a man who had arthritis. Thats it. Have you seen how disfigured the hands of the late James Coburn were after arthritis took them? So, will some future scientist say he was some evolution chain link based on that?
You seem to miss the point. Yes there will be hoaxes ect, but that doesnt mean that evolution is wrong, it just means you have to account for human error. Thats why the scientific system is peer reviewed, so we can find the hoaxes. 99% of data found on evolution points to it being true, so i think its safe to say the 1% is erroneous.
Personally i feel sorry for people for whom this amazing planet and majesty of nature isnt special enough, so they have to invent imaginary friends.
@JennyferJ99 Religion exists because we don't have all the answers. Just because things are "too perfect to have just happened" doesn't mean that an invisible man in the sky who can see through walls created every living being out of clay. A suggestion : read or listen to "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. It's a great, non-threatening and informative look at all religions.
In order to prove that life was designed, you have to first prove that there was a designer. Otherwise, you're merely making an assumption based on preconceived beliefs.
@CallmeAffiliated Its funny. I am partially deaf and never blame God for it. God has a plan. We may never know his reasons, but he never gives us a test that we cannot pass. And God is not an "invisible man" who "grants a wish" despite what people think. He helps those that help themselves. He wants us to be self-reliant and have faith that he knows what he is doing. I have been near death twice and doctors were even asking my family about organ donation, not thinking I would live. Here I am.
@JennyferJ99 wow partially deaf lol hey i was just telling you that nothings perfect and i never said there was a god much less thinking that he grants wishes lol and the reason you lived was probably due to the doctors look at the girl with diabetes the family refused to take her to the doctors and she died next time when your sick stay home and pray and will see how long you last lol
@JennyferJ99 You should try making some kind of intellectual investment of your own before embarrassing yourself with a statement like that. Buuuuut I know you wont since it takes time and effort to acquire knowledge when any fool can acquire faith instantly and effortlessly.
@lmos26 Let's see. I graduated HS in 1994 with honors, did 4 years of college studying world history and business, and now I own my own business. Hm, how many stupid people do all that? I think it is immature to call a person stupid for what they believe. I think it shows low self-esteem and self-conciousness. I have not called anyone stupid for not believing in God. Its your choice what you do and dont believe. I really feel sorry for all of you who are calling us names. So weak...
@JennyferJ99 Congrats, Jenn. Thats cool. What kind of business do you own? (If I may ask). I must say that the more I see you refuse to let these bullies change you, the more I respect you. People who are weak allow people to change their belief out of fear. You are obviously not afraid. Even though I am not religiious, I know that those who are have it so hard these days. You are sued by atheists for simply wearing a "I love Jesus" t-shirt in public (I watch the news), mocked, and
@Kassidy1978 Thanks, Kassidy. Its a saddle shop. I sell horse equipment and riding clothes. And, yes, those who are religious have it very hard nowadays. People like to be able to SEE to believe. As far as the KKK, they are not true Christians. The Bible says NOTHING about a racial holy war or not marrying one of another race. In fact, Moses married a black woman and he was a man who honored God. I dont know a lot about the Amish. True, they obviously had no cameras then, but people would
@Kassidy1978 have portraits or sketches made of themselves. Jesus most likely chose not to because He was here to teach and save, nothing else. There is nothing in the Bible that forbids it. I have photos and home videos of me and my family. Feel free to watch the ones I have posted. I hope I answered your questions. If you go to church, I hope you find it rewarding. Have a great day!!!
@JennyferJ99 bullied for simply believing what you do. I am considering visiting a church this weekend. I hope there will be more people like you there. I am glad to have "met" you here. You have taught me a lot without even trying. Can I ask you 2 questions, though? Why do people like the KKK think they are Christians? If the Bible says "Love everyone" they seem like hypocrites. Second, I just watched a show about the Amish. Does the Bible say not to be photoed? They didnt have that then.
@JennyferJ99 Yes I am openly and brazenly intolerant to people who indoctrinate a child with the bigotries of religion. It's a predatory assault on an unformed mind. A mental circumcision that should be agents the law. As for you people who support and actively participate in filling a child's mind with threats of hellfire unless they do not embrace this absurd God's absolutist laughable claims about reality. Discouraging intellectual investment and knowledge while encouraging pious ignorance
@JennyferJ99 And teaching some of the most disgusting ideas that the world has ever seen. So when It comes to your filthy religion and the horrible thoughts and deeds it inspires deserves nothing less than openly and aggressive hostility. NOT humored and indulged as you people presently are, and made to feel that there is some kind of virtue in their arrogance, but openly mocked and ridiculed, and if it hurts your feelings so much the better!
@JennyferJ99 And in response to your "how many stupid people can do all of that?" You've got George W. Bush who was elected President of the United States AND re-elected. This man is literally the knight in shining armor for the perpetually stupid and proudly benighted.
@lmos26 Now THAT was a stupid answer. That makes Forrest Gump look like a genius (if he were real). Bush was not stupid. He had difficulty in speeches, true. But many people are uncomfortable with public speaking. Graduating with honors is not something people with straight-F report cards get. They repeat school until they get it or they drop out and end up asking "You want fries with that?" I think it shows such immaturity and low self-esteem for a person to call another stupid just because
@JennyferJ99 You assumed that what I said about GWB was harvested from his public speech blunders? Or what grades he got in high school? I was talking about a President that had a very important job that required him to make very important INTELLIGENT decisions..seriously If you couldn't grasp that and if you really are that oblivious to what this man did to this country then I advise you try focusing on his actual job performance and not on speech impediments and past academic achievements nxt
@lmos26 they do not agree. When I was in HS, most girls liked "90210" and I hated it. They called me stupid over a silly TV show. They were just insecure because I had better grades and a scholarship. I felt sorry for them, just like I do for you. Maybe you could get some academic help to feel better about yourself? I am finished with you. I quit wasting my time on people who just need to find a way to boost their confidence and are doing it wrong.
@lmos26 You dont want to buy and read MY books. They are not children's books. They are mystery/detective novels and are beyond your intellectual capacity.
@JennyferJ99 May I ask you another question? What does it mean by "God helps those that help themselves"? You seem to say pray AND take action. Help me out, please. Have a great day and I hope you can answer me really soon. And I will ignore replies from the insecure ones. Their answers will be to ignore God or something like that. I am still thinking of going to church this Sunday. There is a church about 3 blocks from my place. Its a Baptist one.
@Kassidy1978 You clearly don't like some of the things I've said and "you're" obviously very enthusiastic about scoring a "point" agents me and I respect that. However don't you think it's a bit weak and even embarrassing that "you're" sniffing around for a minor error in grammar so that you can pop up like a conquering warrior and feel like a hero? Okay so your a coward and you probably lack confidence in your ability to debate like "real men do" Yeah I know your pathetic kind quite well...
@lmos26 I never said I felt like a hero. I just don't like bad spelling. People already say America has awful education and I don't like to prove it. I used to want to be a schoolteacher. But I took a different career path. I work in social services now.
@lmos26 Obama has screwed this country worse than ANYONE. He has placed us in more debt in one term than the last 3 presidents COMBINED. And I was not referring to speech impediments. He was obviously uncomfortable with public speaking. You are trying too hard and my friends and I are having a hearty laugh at your expense. Finish school and then we'll talk. My books are available on Amazon.com, if you think you have the intellectual capacity to read them.
@JennyferJ99 Jesus lady you are the queen of incorrect assumption. Because I had a few harsh words for GWB, that must automatically mean I support Obama! Hehe okay it's been fun Jenny :) I submit.
@lmos26 Well, you figured THAT out. Hahaha. Of course any author wants to sell their books. What you said there was actually funny and I laughed WITH you, not AT you. Anyway, I am finished with this discussion. Have a good day. (By the way, in case you are thinking it, I do NOT hate atheists. I may not agree, but I dont hate and I dont want bad things for any of you.) And I never said you supported Obama. Bye. I hope things go well for you.
@JennyferJ99 Seriously though and I'm not being mean anymore :) so don't take this the wrong way alright? When I brought up GWB and called him an idiot, you automatically assumed I had based that claim from his speech issues. Then you did it again when I criticized GWB's job performance by assuming that I must support Obama then. Just something to consider in the future. :)
@JennyferJ99 And enough about you books already. Okay so your books will boggle my simple mind the very instant that I try to read them. Heh If I don't agree with you then I will be forced to buy your books to see what all the fuss is about.... Hey! Wait a second.... Unless... You are sneaky huh Jenny? Yeeeeah I bet this is all part of your little trick to sell books!! Isn't it?
@JennyferJ99 What times are your store open? I wonder because I wanted to start my own business because I wanted to have my own schedule. That sounds so cool. My cousin owns a video game store. Perfect for him. He spent lots of time at arcades as a child. But then home video games killed the arcades. Of course we still have those kids pizza places. haha
I've read all of the statements of those who disagree with me, and millions of others! Not one of them have proven evolution took place. It's all been conjecture and a dis-belief in a Creator God! I think it has to do with their absolute rejection of God and Jesus Christ, because to admit to a Creator God, would mean, that one day they will answer to Him. Without a God to answer to, they can justify their sins, and all their evil behavior!
@robrendajr Evolution is a theory, it's the best science can do right now. Nobody says it's 100% fact, but I think they've got the general idea. There are fossils, DNA tests, etc that support the theory and act as evidence. Now, what sort of proof to you have of your creator god? Nothing. Not one thing. And don't give me "the bible" or "i feel him in my spirit" BS. You have zero proof. Stop believing and grow up.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Once again, as Christians we don't believe in evolution. We believe, by faith, that God (Creator) made everything that has been made. We also believe that He sustains it all by the word of His power!
For any Christian to say evolution has had a part in creation, is to deny the Word of God! You can't have them both! It's either faith in the Bible, God's Word! Or it's faith in random chance (evolution)!
Don't give up your day job, Pastor Rob. Oops - you don't have one do you. You spend your life spreading lies and misinformation and living off 'tithes'. We came from apes, not monkeys. DER!
I have to agree, the education system in this country is a joke. And it's time we start taxing the churches. Maybe if the government eliminates their tax exemptions and makes the clergy pay their way through society like everybody else, there would be fewer of them around to put this kind of religious crap into young people's heads.
One of the most mind-numbingly stupid things I've ever seen. I've read through the comments by "parsonrobert" on this page and they are filled with quote mining and false information. To deny evolution is, quite simply, to ignore facts. Discussing faith as if it was fact, and akin to real science, may make creationists believe their own lies, but they are closing their minds to 150 years of scientific study.
A New Clue to Explain Existence - Joe Lykken, a theorist at Fermilab, said, So I would not say that this announcement is the equivalent of seeing the face of God, but it might turn out to be the toe of God.
Herbert Spencer said, "All truth can be classified into five things: time, force, action, space and matter." And they hailed him as a brilliant scientist. The first verse in the Bible said that. "In the beginning (time), God (force) created (action) the heavens (space) and the earth (matter)." So we can say we can defend the Bible on the basis of its scientific accuracy.
"This fear is that of not being tenured, of not getting research grants, of not being published, and of not being accepted by their peers. So to be accepted, to be published, to be granted research money, and to be tenured by their university, they must follow the party line, which is evolution. This is how the academic game is played."
"Most professors continue to teach evolution in the universities out of fear," explains Dr. Phillip E. Johnson, retired professor of law at the University of California Berkeley and spokesman for intelligent design education.
How ironic that Charles Darwin, after a lifetime of turning the scientific world on its head, began in later years to question his own conclusions.
"Often a cold shudder has run through me," Darwin wrote in a letter to his friend and colleague Charles Lyell, "and I have asked myself whether I may have not devoted myself to a phantasy."
"Evolution is unproved and improvable, we believe it because the only alternative is special creation, which is unthinkable," wrote the late Sir Arthur Keith, physical anthropologist and head of the Anatomy Department at London Hospital. " Materialism is an absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door," wrote Richard Lewontin, former professor of genetics at Harvard University.
* "I do not want to believe in God. Therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation leading to evolution." George Wald (Nobel prize for Medicine in 1967).
Wald, George: "Frontiers of Modern Biology on Theories of Origin of Life" (New York, Houghton Mifflin, 1972), p. 187.
@parsonrobert Out of context. Totally. And you've omitted the part that was important. This quote is a result of one man's (a genius man, yes) inability to calculate the solar system. However nowadays this is not a problem.
And well, the quote is not about the Universe, but "most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets". Small lies are the worst ones.
@parsonrobert You folks seem to pervert every moment of truth anyone has.
Truth: Sir Isaac Newton was unable to understand how solar system is not collapsing nor falling apart, and so he have fallen back to conventional wisdom of the time.
Outrageous lie: Quoting someone to support your point without giving the full context of the quote. A half-truth is a whole lie.
And you know what? There's no "one of your own" when you talk about skeptics. We leave that to you folks.
@parsonrobert Deny evolution all you want, but even if evolution were disproven that doesn't automatically prove that you were made by an invisible magic man in the sky.
@parsonrobert "The whole system of Evolution is built on assumptions, and lies! "
Everything everyone does is built on assumptions, so we can drop that part. For instance, you believe the bible is the literal word of god, despite the absolute fact that it was written by men and has been changed for human political gain repeatedly.
Lies, however, that is an interesting claim. Could you list some of the lies that the Theory of Evolution is based on?
@parsonrobert You're quoting Newton?? Yes, a brilliant scientist-- born in 1643, when people didn't understand how disease was spread (oh yes, you've been cursed by a witch), when there was no understanding of cosmology, evolution, genetics, etc.. He didn't know any better, in the 21st century, we all should.
One of the most unfortunate trends in modern Christianity is that of reinterpreting Genesis to accommodate evolutionary theories. Many well-known Bible teachers and apologists have caved in to the evolutionists and have come to believe that adhering to a literal interpretation of Genesis is somehow detrimental to the credibility of Christians.
@parsonrobert You pretty much HAVE to reinterpret Genesis if it's going to have any relevance at all, because it makes claims that are simply impossible.
There is no known scientific law that would allow one kind of creature to turn naturally into a completely different kind. Insects don't evolve into more complex non-insects for instance, because they don't have the genes to do it.
To show that all life evolved from a single cell, which itself came from some type of chemical soup, there would have had to be massive genetic information gains.
@parsonrobert "there would have had to be massive genetic information gains. "
Gene duplication, transcription errors, horizontal gene transfer - all of these things allow for the addition of new information. You really ought not get your answers from Answers in Genesis - they're terrible liars!
Atheistic evolutionists have long believed that at some time in the distant past, life arose from non-living substances. British biologist T.H. Huxley in 1869 and physicist John Tyndall in 1874 were early promoters of the idea that life could be generated from inorganic chemicals.
But biology has found no support for this, and much against it. The invariable observation is that only living things give rise to other living things. Life could not begin if God and miracles took no part!
Life from non life is abiogenesis. Evolution only deals with life once it is here. If you have a problem with abiogeneis then address it seperately. It is a completely different scientific field with nowhere near the weight of evidence behind it.
"Life could not begin if God and miracles took no part!" - Argument from ignorance. Try again. And try not to ignore the fact that organic material has been demonstarted to come from inorganic material under certain laboratory conditions
@parsonrobert "The invariable observation is that only living things give rise to other living things.'
No... the invariable observation is that only living things give rise to modern, complex living things. A simple cell composed of proteins in a bilipid layer can form from purely non-living components. Life is just a category of chemistry, and everything is above the quantum level is chemistry.
@parsonrobert Biology has found plenty of support from life arising from non-living ORGANIC chemicals. In fact, we've created artificial RNA that then went on to evolve, on its own, into new and better strains that we didn't make. New information, created repeatedly.
By the way, do you even know what organic means? It just means "containing carbon." Of course carbon-based life couldn't come from non-carbon-containing chemicals. That's like saying you're going to build a log cabin without logs.
There is of course no scientific law or demonstrable process that would let something evolve from nothing. If there was nothing in the universe to begin with, obviously nothing could happen to cause anything to appear.
@Anti1Theist Evolution doesn't prove anything! Molecular biology disproves evolution. The evidence to support evolution is lacking. Molecular research is eliminating the supposed evolutionary ancestors, one by one.
@parsonrobert "Molecular biology disproves evolution. ... Molecular research is eliminating the supposed evolutionary ancestors, one by one"
On the contrary, molecular biology would be enough to prove the fact of evolution even if no fossils were ever found. The distribution of alleles within similar species is such that they could only have had a common ancestor.
There are no scientific experiments to prove that the Pluto has orbited the Sun even once! Nobody has observed it, it cannot be tested, therefore by YOUR own standards it must be a lie!
Are you insane?
It's sad that your religion has poisoned your mind so much that you would deny REALITY just to keep your delusions.
@parsonrobert No wonder you didn't get it, the only thing you did is to google some book titles, one definition and copy and paste tons of crap from creationists' websites only.
@cda1117 For a true Christian to accept the evolution theory over the Bible's clear & plain statements, boggles the mind of this believer! Believing or not believing in Creation/Evolution has nothing to do in getting saved and becoming a Christian! But either the Bible true, or a big fabricated lie~! Choose you this day whom ye will serve!
@parsonrobert So when the Bible states that the world is a flat circle that the wicked can fall off, the sky is a solid dome, the Moon shines with it's own light, humans can build a tower high enough to reach heaven (thus threatening God), there was a flood that covered Mount Everest and all other ABSURD and INSANE stuff, a true Christian MUST believe in all that stupidity?
Deists got it right - if there is a God, his word is the world itself, not that insane book - the Bible.
@voytass84 Now you have created 'strawmen' to attack. The Bible is a book of history and stories. In it's language idioms, expressions, and even symbolic language is used. So cancel that one!
You are taking certain verses out of context! (and putting your spin on them) The Bible clearly supports true Science!
@parsonrobert Oh, so now you ARE INTERPRETING? There are some symbolic stories? So why can't those 2 contradictory stories from Genesis be a metaphor? You shot your own foot. Either the Bible is a word of God and you need to take it seriously or it isn't. You are cherry-picking some stories which you find not too absurd (but to every educated civilized human being they are ridiculous superstitions), while the dumbest ones are 'symbols'.
@parsonrobert No, not at all. Genesis is clearly not written as a history. There are far too many poetic and allegorical elements to it for that to make any sense at all. And furthermore, it makes no sense for a God larger than the finite universe -- think about that -- to have any use for revealing the mechanics of the universe. The only thing we have in common with God is personality. Lastly, Creationism is full of liars, and you have been lied to. Do any research, and this becomes clear.
@cda1117 You know, I have tried to make sense, of all the non-sense about Evolution! You all just keep parroting each other! You accuse me of poor research, and laud yourselves over you 'so called' superior, enlightened research. But the truth is, you have believed the lie, and have condemned yourselves to a purposeless life. Don't be angry with me, be angry with the teachers and professors that taught you Evolution's lie!
@parsonrobert Tell me: are you a biologist? Or do you understand algorithms? I do. I'm a computer science major. The evolutionary algorithm of reproduction, slight change, and competition is a very useful algorithm even among the computer science world. It works, and if you can't figure it out, then just trust us. We know what we're doing. We're not setting out to destroy you. We're out to find truth.
Christians being unintentionally funny is like a hot new form of comedy on the internet. Guess what, natural selection also explains why some people are born gay and bisexual. Sorry but you deserve to be ridiculed wherever you go for the things you believe and push on your children and society.
As one who was facinated by evolution/dinosaurs as a child, further study brought me to the inescapable conclusion that evolution is a fairy tale for adults.
Alos the unkind and cruel comments here are very revealing as to the mindset of evolutionists.

@parsonrobert No, there are millions of other possibilities. 2 eternal gods, 3 eternal gods, no eternal god but a natural process... Yet you creationists always have to make that false dichotomy.
You know what's so amazing, is how a "parody" song, against Evolution has stirred up the debate, and most particularly, the vitriolic comments that have been made. You'd think these people were Muslims, and something bad about Allah was said.
These evolutionists don't want honest debate, and what they dub "religious faith", is exactly what they have in evolution!
@parsonrobert You're teaching misleading children because you're afraid of what evolution does to your religion and posting it on the internet. It's almost our duty to ridicule you. The honest debate has already happened in courtrooms all over the world with the best scientists and theologians in the world testifying. If you want to divert the argument to your ideas vs. the average joe's ideas, that just makes you look like even more of a cult
@InnerSmile72 Evolution does nothing to harm my faith in a God Creator! But the Bible's truth and true science slaps Evoloution down, and makes their adherents somewhat weird!

So its easier to accept a supernatural explanation based on ancient mythology than a natural explanation based on rigorous scientific observation?

Objection. Statement misrepresents opponents arguments. The claim is not that humans evolved from monkeys. Humans are part of the great apes, along with gorillas, orangutans and our closest living relatives, chimpanzees. Monkeys and apes are different.

Kassidy1978 7 months ago

@Kassidy1978 Well, I get there at 5AM to open. We open to the public at 7AM to 4PM. If you want to run a business, regular hours are very important.

I also look at the GOOD things I was blessed with. I was adopted by a wonderful family who made sure I always had what I needed, I have had 3 books published (novels), I have a loving and caring family, great friends, I own my own business, and I have a pretty nice home to live in.
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
You know whats funny about all this? I have more reason to be angry at God than many people here. I am part-deaf, was premature, have several serious illnesses that I am on 6 meds for, see a doc every 3 months to check my potassium level, was abused by my birth mother, and have almost died 3 times. 2 of those times, my docs were sure that I would not make it. They had done all they could and had warned my family that I could go any time. People who are whole and healthy take it for granted.
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
We cause SOME of the problems. For example, my cousin has spina bifida. SB is caused if a pregnant woman does not get enough vitamin B while pregnant. Thats not anyone's fault but the mother. Smoking during pregnancy causes illnesses. And there are things that we dont know the cause yet. (So much for modern science). And natural disasters will happen. My heart goes out to the victims of the recent earthquakes, floods, and storms. Why these things happen, nobody at all knows.
Kassidy1978 7 months ago
@Kassidy1978 Kassidy, you took the words right out of my mouth! By perfectly designed, I was referring to the actual design of our bodies. Yes, things happen. Why they happen, I dont know. Nobody does. If anyone claims to know, he/she is a liar. These cult leaders are just ego-maniacs who are only looking for women to sleep with. The Bible warns that there will be false prophets. If you decide to join a church, go to a legitimate one. Stay away from these cults, please. (I got your message, too)
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
I just joined today because I saw all the mocking behavior here and had to say something. Those that mock are an embarrassment. It shows low self-esteem, immaturity, and insecurity. I am agnostic and curious. I love to see that many of the religious here are staying composed and not laughing at anyone. Those that are laughing are acting babyish. We all have our own beliefs and opinions. And thats great. And this is not a perfect world, but much of it is our fault.
Kassidy1978 7 months ago
I find both funny and sad that people who are healthy take it for granted and think they did it themselves while many who are sick believe that there is a reason for it. I will pray for all of you. Have a great day.
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
@JennyferJ99 and pray for me all you want i could care less for when i get sick i will count on science to help me get better threw modern medicine
CallmeAffiliated 7 months ago
@CallmeAffiliated The girl whose parents did that were fanatic. People who actually read the Bible know that God helps those who help themselves. When you're sick, pray AND see a doc. We believe that God helps us by giving people the knowledge and intelligence to create the science. If I was that fanatic, I would have died by the time I was 10. I have several health problems that require meds and I do take those meds. I believe God gave us the knowledge to create these meds.
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
@CallmeAffiliated I feel so sorry for that girl. Her parents were not only fanatic, but I think they were tempting God and the Bible warns us not to do that. These snake-handling preachers are not showing their faith. They are tempting God. Thats why many fail. I find it sadder that atheists laugh at believers so much. I never mock atheists or people that practice a different religion. We all have the right to worship (or not) as we please. Laughing at me just shows me you are insecure.

Science says that modern humans, along with great apes and other primates, come from the same lineage and thus share common genes and genetics. If you look at a monkey, it's pretty damn clear that they're related to us - you don't even need to open a book to see that (and you CLEARLY don't like to read).

@JennyferJ99
Oinky23 1 year ago
@Oinky23 Did you know that two parts of the evolutionary chart have been proven wrong? But people keep those two items on the chart to try to keep people thinking it's a logical explanation.
JennyferJ99 1 year ago
@JennyferJ99
Oinky23 1 year ago
@Oinky23 I think its sad when people believe ONLY what they can see and touch. I have faith in more than my eyes, ears, and hands. Lucy was simply a 3-ft tall chimp. It was all over the news when one part of the chart was proven to be a hoax. It was the skeleton of a man who had arthritis. Thats it. Have you seen how disfigured the hands of the late James Coburn were after arthritis took them? So, will some future scientist say he was some evolution chain link based on that?
JennyferJ99 1 year ago
@JennyferJ99

CallmeAffiliated 7 months ago
@CallmeAffiliated Its funny. I am partially deaf and never blame God for it. God has a plan. We may never know his reasons, but he never gives us a test that we cannot pass. And God is not an "invisible man" who "grants a wish" despite what people think. He helps those that help themselves. He wants us to be self-reliant and have faith that he knows what he is doing. I have been near death twice and doctors were even asking my family about organ donation, not thinking I would live. Here I am.
JennyferJ99 7 months ago
@JennyferJ99 wow partially deaf lol hey i was just telling you that nothings perfect and i never said there was a god much less thinking that he grants wishes lol and the reason you lived was probably due to the doctors look at the girl with diabetes the family refused to take her to the doctors and she died next time when your sick stay home and pray and will see how long you last lol

Ohhh boy, genesis proves that the bible is completely unscientific. It is completely wrong. Just read some science books.

So to be accepted, to be published, to be granted research money, and to be tenured by their university, they must follow the party line, which is evolution. This is how the academic game is played."

This most beautiful system [The Universe] could only proceed from the dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.

parsonrobert 1 year ago
@parsonrobert Out of context. Totally. And you've omitted the part that was important. This quote is a result of one man's (a genius man, yes) inability to calculate the solar system. However nowadays this is not a problem.
And well, the quote is not about the Universe, but "most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets". Small lies are the worst ones.

Everything everyone does is built on assumptions, so we can drop that part. For instance, you believe the bible is the literal word of god, despite the absolute fact that it was written by men and has been changed for human political gain repeatedly.
Lies, however, that is an interesting claim. Could you list some of the lies that the Theory of Evolution is based on?

progressive creation teaches:
The Big Bang origin of the universe occurred 16-billion-years ago; death, bloodshed, and disease existed before Adam & Eve.
The days of Creation were long periods.
Noahs Flood was a local event.
The record of nature is just as perfect as the Word of God.
***This is untenable with the Bible!

@robrendajr If you knew ANYTHING about science you would have been aware that the Big Bang occurred 13.72 billion years ago, not 16.

I'm not one of them!
ParsonRob

@parsonrobert You pretty much HAVE to reinterpret Genesis if it's going to have any relevance at all, because it makes claims that are simply impossible.

There is no known scientific law that would allow one kind of creature to turn naturally into a completely different kind. Insects don't evolve into more complex non-insects for instance, because they don't have the genes to do it.
To show that all life evolved from a single cell, which itself came from some type of chemical soup, there would have had to be massive genetic information gains.
parsonrobert 1 year ago
@parsonrobert
Evolutionary theory doesn't state that insects can turn into non-insects. Such a thing would be impossible. Insects will always be insects.
Perhaps you'd like to give a scientific definition of the word "kind".
SerenityNoww 1 year ago 2
@parsonrobert "Insects don't evolve into more complex non-insects for instance, because they don't have the genes to do it."
Yes. Yes, they do. We've observed this happening in several types of animal.

Life could not begin if God and miracles took no part!
parsonrobert 1 year ago

Life from non life is abiogenesis. Evolution only deals with life once it is here. If you have a problem with abiogeneis then address it seperately. It is a completely different scientific field with nowhere near the weight of evidence behind it.
"Life could not begin if God and miracles took no part!" - Argument from ignorance. Try again. And try not to ignore the fact that organic material has been demonstarted to come from inorganic material under certain laboratory conditions
SerenityNoww 1 year ago
@parsonrobert "The invariable observation is that only living things give rise to other living things.'
No... the invariable observation is that only living things give rise to modern, complex living things. A simple cell composed of proteins in a bilipid layer can form from purely non-living components. Life is just a category of chemistry, and everything is above the quantum level is chemistry.
BoredInfidel 1 year ago
@parsonrobert Biology has found plenty of support from life arising from non-living ORGANIC chemicals. In fact, we've created artificial RNA that then went on to evolve, on its own, into new and better strains that we didn't make. New information, created repeatedly.
By the way, do you even know what organic means? It just means "containing carbon." Of course carbon-based life couldn't come from non-carbon-containing chemicals. That's like saying you're going to build a log cabin without logs.
BoredInfidel 1 year ago
There is of course no scientific law or demonstrable process that would let something evolve from nothing. If there was nothing in the universe to begin with, obviously nothing could happen to cause anything to appear.
parsonrobert 1 year ago
@parsonrobert "If there was nothing in the universe to begin with, obviously nothing could happen to cause anything to appear. "
This is just demonstrative of your scientific ignorance. In fact, 'nothing' absolutely can give rise to something, due to quantum fluctuation.

Anti1Theist 1 year ago
@Anti1Theist Evolution doesn't prove anything! Molecular biology disproves evolution. The evidence to support evolution is lacking. Molecular research is eliminating the supposed evolutionary ancestors, one by one.
Who believes the LIE?
parsonrobert 1 year ago
@parsonrobert "Molecular biology disproves evolution. ... Molecular research is eliminating the supposed evolutionary ancestors, one by one"
On the contrary, molecular biology would be enough to prove the fact of evolution even if no fossils were ever found. The distribution of alleles within similar species is such that they could only have had a common ancestor.

Something Evolution is not!
The deists got it wrong, Voyt! And so have you!
parsonrobert 1 year ago
@parsonrobert Oh, so now you ARE INTERPRETING? There are some symbolic stories? So why can't those 2 contradictory stories from Genesis be a metaphor? You shot your own foot. Either the Bible is a word of God and you need to take it seriously or it isn't. You are cherry-picking some stories which you find not too absurd (but to every educated civilized human being they are ridiculous superstitions), while the dumbest ones are 'symbols'.
You are a hypocrite.

BoredInfidel 1 year ago
@parsonrobert No, not at all. Genesis is clearly not written as a history. There are far too many poetic and allegorical elements to it for that to make any sense at all. And furthermore, it makes no sense for a God larger than the finite universe -- think about that -- to have any use for revealing the mechanics of the universe. The only thing we have in common with God is personality. Lastly, Creationism is full of liars, and you have been lied to. Do any research, and this becomes clear.
cda1117 1 year ago
@cda1117 You know, I have tried to make sense, of all the non-sense about Evolution! You all just keep parroting each other!
