@mickeymouse14 Having been there, and it looked great in person, even up close. Talking to the Imagineers, they said some would be projection, some would be animatronic.

I think the mouth looks great and the eyes look fake. Was the mouth different from the eyes?

@MrHelloEarthling Remember, we are referring to a talking car with eyes here :) The room lighting also impacted the overall effect. If this was setup in a dark room as it will be in the final product, the eyes should look great and not a little washed out as they are in this bright room. The eyes were rear projection, mouth front projection.

i think that they should make the mouth a rear projection insead of a front projection, that way he can move around and still have the mouth look good, like the buzz lightyear animatronic. This thing is awesome!!!

It's a really nice effect, and it works great considering current (or next-gen) technology.

It would be amazing if they could put him on a moving hydraulic lift and still have the projection match up with his movements. He is kinda suffering from the Madam Leota effect.

I was there and saw this in person. This was only a test of the mouth and eyes. :-)

Thanks for the video. I'm still trying to figure out how the mouth is done. Is it a curved surface television screen?

"Flat" surface front bumper with a projector in front of it below the ground. I panned the video around near the end (:20)so you can get a glimpse of it.
