  • Danny has kept true to the music while the rest of the band gets off on coasting..... Who was it who said bacjk in that day that Chicago was a great band but if they only got rid of the horns..... meaning Danny and Terry were the heart of the band.... when I say Danny a couple years ago I swear he dedicated a song to Terry.... Stay classy Chicago....!!

I saw the current Chicagoi this summer. They may as well have had a beat box instead of their "drummer". Go Danny!! You're awesome!

  • Looking forward to Cetera and Seraphine reuniting with Chicago in 2017 for the 50th anniversary. Let's hope the dream becomes a reality.

  • Wow Wow Wow The Drummer is What the Curent day Chiacgo is Missing.

  • This band is better than the "modern-day" Chicago... but, still way too much production.. too much programmed instrumentation. The original Chicago was raw.. only tight! Like a Garage horn-band! Au naturel!

  • nothing compared to terry kaith and hed probably say so as well

  • wow these guys are tighter than todays chicago.,.....and the drums are better than ever...AA+++

  • Amazing band! Danny still rocking the 20 inch bass drums!! P.s. missing those sweet concert toms though.

  • This is the only thing you really need to know about how good Danny Seraphine is- Buddy Rich used to be a guest on the Johnny Carson Show all the time, and Carson would frequently ask him who he thought were the best drummers in the world ( after Buddy himself,of course). He would always say Ed Shaugnnessy, the drummer for Doc Severinsen's band on the show, but he would also always include Danny Seraphine in his list. Nuff said.

  • Awesome! Great to hear/see Danny. This band has tons of energy...far more than Chicago has today. I have to agree with previous posts about Chicago since Terry, Peter, and Danny. Saw them a couple of years back with EW&F and thought EW&F blew them off the stage. CTA is refreshing! Thanks Danny and good luck!!!

  • @SkykingMr /the band did nicely changing from Kath (RIP) to Cetera doing slow love songs ,then he left they really had no hits.sure they did Look Away ,and it did great but its the label effect. if its a hot product then it must be good .but listen to Look Away now...and it sucks.Chicago is nothing but a the kind of band in a dive restaurant.Ever see the blues brothers when they go to the holiday inn? Try the Veal its fantastic.

  • I think this CTA is actually a kick in the pants to the current band that he was forced out of thanks to an idiot manager and idiot singer from California who must have said they can get better. Notice this band has no horns, wayt o stick itto the horn section that said you didnt have a good work ethic. I love this music. ever notice the band hasnt had a hit since Serafine was bounced.and all the greatest hits had Kath,Cetera, and Seraphine. Get it??

  • @SkykingMr / Amen to that. the band changed with the death or Kath, then Cetera changed the style to a more ballad atmosphere, and then the song Look Away, my god ,People were starved for a hit from Chicago that they turned it into a number 1....listen to it now, if you can stomach that song...look away...ugh...then the final straw horn section claiming Serafine had a bad work ethic,I think he as sick of Chicago. Thanks to Danny he is playing the real Chicago music.

  • I never realized how much talent was and is in Chicago. After seeing Terry Kath and Danny..I always thought Chicago was just a horn band with a few hits.Iam amazed

  • @stonesharve Check out Chicago Live in Japan 1972 and Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall. They used to be a true progressive jazz-rock outfit. Their horn arrangements, odd meters & especially the deliberately composed (as opposed to just jammed) polyrythmic interplay between all the different musical parts was very advanced. Only guys like Frank Zappa & Mahavishnu John Mclaughlin would even try stuff like that. They also had the extra Americana spirit there for a while that added the poetic touch.

  • Wow this is fantastik made me smile!!

  • Does Danny's band have a vocalist? I saw on the CTA website that they have an African-American singing at times, and by the way he sounded, Terry Kath would have approved of him.

  • @MrJayBBluejay the band has a vocalist but listening to him he actually sounds closer to Cetera with the high notes, they need someone with energy to really come close to Kath,i cant think of a singer who would fit the bill, maybe a blues man could do.

  • The founder of the band "Chicago" Danny Danny Seraphine

  • It just sounds different due to the recording isnt the best or it could have been downloaded without a good sound equalizer due to a lot of base response. but the band did great on it and Danny still has it. great to see Danny playing some of the songs he was originated. and without horns, makes a good statement since it was supposedly a member of the horn section that claims Danny needed to practice more really?

that was before he was kicked out of Chicago. thanks to idiot record execs

  • Great song, and I love Danny, but the tempo is really uneven and dragging a little at the start.

  • @mother66 ???? You're kidding right? The song "breathes" like it is suppose to! Compare it to the version by the musicians now CALLING themselves Chicago over to the right. Now which do you really think cooks?

  • @gf2564 I understand where you're coming from, but when you've got a driving kick figure like this tune features, there ain't no "breathing," just moving forward. I'll say this: give me Danny over Tris Imboden any day of the week.

  • @mother66 You probably have better ears than I; too many years of amplification! I obviously haven't put a metronome to it but I don't hear any REAL issues with tempo. Of course, I am old school(and old!) and generally prefer music that does breath a little.(as opposed to the sterile, drum machine, almost perfect timing than has become so popular) Regardless of what his former band members say, this is conclusive evidence the man can still play!

  • @mother66 Seraphine on early Chicago albums was one of the greatest drummers in terms of a combination of technique & perfect feel for the band he was playing in. He gets little respect today from the general public because most of them only know the sappy pop-group Chicago. Imboden is a great technician but lacks the true Seraphine feel that came from the intense non-stop 300 dates a year touring & constant playing & brotherhood that made the band the smokin' unit it was in the early 70s.

  • Modern drummer festival, I guess.

  • Terrific to see a high-quality vid of CTA at last. Whence and where?

  • Good to see this back up again.
