  • My teacher spent two weeks trying to get me to learn how to do this.. THANK YOU

  • Thank you SO much!!! I missed that math lesson and I still had to do the homework and I DID NOT know what I was doing!!!! THANK YOU!!

  • i got it so quickly hahahahah :D tnx for uploading this ^^ i was absent when my teacher taught this i want to suprise her that i know the lesson even if i am not present ^^ thanks a lot ^^

  • "did you hear about the new terminator coming up" "thats very good its irrelevant right now thank you" lol

  • thank this video helped ALOT

  • Elimination gave me hell in class last week but thanks to you guys my math teacher will be very impressed. Thanxx so much guys and you have a good teacher.

  • YOUTUBE IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!! IF CONGRESS SHUTS DOWN YOUTUBE, IM GONNA FREAKIN LOSE IT...AND MY FUTURE

  • I haven't search through all your vids because of time but do you have a video like this but for integer slopes, like

    y=3x+5

    y=1x+15

  • i freaking LOVE how you teach! if i had you as a teacher, i would be so excited to actually go to school and learn! :) keep it up with your student, they're very lucky! and thank you for always having amazing videos and learning from them instead having my stupid math teacher for 90 minutes and not learning squad!

  • this is neato

  • Why are u doing Substitution when the title of the video is Elimination ????

  • @Jonniecakeskandikid hmmp its just simply the law of math .. wen u add two variables with different signs with the same coeffient or value you should cancel it because their sum is 0 . its no need to bring down ... hehehe :)))

  • omg thank you so much!! i never thought youtube could teach me better than school fuck school!

  • I have a question for you, Why do the Ys on the left side of the board both cancel out? I'm kind of confused in that part?

  • O.o??

  • LOL "Don't worry, it's only been 30 seconds :)" No, it was a minute and 6 seconds. :D Great video btw, taught me a lot.

  • Life saver. I have a math exam today and I FINALLY get this stuff. THANK YOU.

  • Thanks man, really helpful video. :)

  • Man i hate my teacher! I don't learn anything from him, I wish this guy was my teacher.

  • bro. fuck school, I learn this shit better with Youtube and Google -_____________-

  • How the fuck can I still not solve this?

  • Substitution is better because its harder ;)

  • thanks you

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!

  • Math videos on youtube are the saving grace to my math grade, thanks!

  • If my eqn 1 is 3x-5y=-2 and my eqn 2 is 10y-6x=4, can I just switch the 3x and -5y so that they match with my second equation and then just do the math that way?

  • bphussar. its the same damn thing

  • YAY THANK YOU!! AFTER 30 MINTS OF FREAKING OUT YOU HELPED ME BETTER THAN MY TEACHER EVER DID.

  • thank for the help mr yay math

  • This video makes solving problems more easier than being taught

  • you are such a cool teacher, come to my school!

  • what if the y's dont line up

    5x+2y=340

    3x-4y=260

  • @eazybreezyxoxo you would multiply the 5x+2y=340 by 2 so (5x+2y=340)(2) that makes the equation 10x+4y=680 now the y variable can cancel out

  • @eazybreezyxoxo i think it would be neg 2

  • @eazybreezyxoxo than you rearrange them but in your case they do line up 5x+2y=340

    3x-4y=260

  • Great teaching.

  • 4:10 so awkward..

  • thanks! helped with my homework!

  • Thank you!

  • thanx

  • Sandler, you suck at acting, but you're great at math.

  • 2r-3s=11

    2r+2s=6

    cant do this shit!!!!!

  • omg my math teacher took 2 periods explaining and i never got it and this taught me it in under 3 minutes! im subbed man im subbed!

  • I'm in algebra 2 and my teacher did 2 examples and expected the whole class to do the whole thing. This helped so much!

  • i can't believe that a video could actually teach me better that my stupid math teacher...

  • with the help of these veidos i should't fail algrbra.

  • @TheRyman247 but language arts you will

  • Id love to have this guy as my algebra teacher. I would learn algebra and have eye candy all at the same time. Definite win- win situation :P

  • Weird moment after '' I like you''

  • lol fk that. "whens the new terminator coming up"

  • Substitution kicks Elimination's ass

  • Lol i met this guy before seein this video thats a wierd ass coincedence

  • I love YouTube! My teacher made me confused but the whole "add down the columns" makes sense now. Thanks. xD

  • @AngelsWithHatchets yess omg!!! my teacher did some like multiply stuff idk...but it took like 1 hour to do one problem the way she taught.hahaha but omg this was very helpful

  • I didn't finish watching this video because he didn't do the YAY MATH thing

  • i wish he was my math teacher. very helpful and what a cutie

  • dude i got a big test coming up can i borrow your brain?!?!?

  • What grade is the class? Oh I find these equations "simple". The one I had to do is 4x - 9y = 4

6x + 15y = -13 I'm not saying it's a very hard question for people. I'm just saying it's hard for me, my teacher kinda teaches too fast, and i'm new to this elimination thing. So I kinda need some help. :\

  • @AznRod so you know how you have to cancel one of the problems so in this case I would like to cancel the x variable (s). and the common multiple they have is 24. next, multiply 6 to (-9) and to 4. Samething to the equation below but negative because you have to cancel all the x variable in order to get the Y value.. (4 times15 and to 16). then i think the rest is pretty basic. HOpe i can help :D

  • @bymbasauren Thanks :]

  • WTF!! I NEEDED THE FUCKIN ONE WITH THE SAME SIGNS

  • @WetWangInc you just use subtraction right?

  • THIS IS A WASTE!!! SHUT THE STUDENTS UP

  • Thanks it helped :)

  • thank you!!! you helped big time. i understand it again :)

  • You know, more videos of this and we're already eligible for college...

  • where did he get the -1 ?!!

  • why can i not find an example of a linear systems eaxmaple like this one

    x-y=-1

3x+5y=21 jeez you would think someone would have posted it somewhere!

  • @napalm2999 lol same

  • I'm too scared to raise my hand in math because my teacher scares me, so I have my finals in three days and I'm learning ALL of my school material through this guy. . .I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.

  • @FlyingToastersUnite Kinda same, My math teacher also scares the crap out of me....

  • right on

  • Thank you cute math teacher!

  • this guy is taking the easy way out. teach the kids some harder stuff. this is 8th grade caliber.

  • @KnicksFan0115 he's not taking an easy way out? it says clearly on the video name "Algebra" which is 8th grade caliber math....it doesnt say "Algebra 2" or "Grometry"...it says Algebra.

  • @uptoCHINAtown i think u understood me wrong. when i say that, i mean that he's not doing a harder equation. the ones he chose are really simple to solve. i cant give an example right now of what i mean though

  • Thanks! I totally understand it now!!

  • my math teacher couldn't even explain it. 57 grade 11's are failing her class and a handful of grade 10's are failing too.

  • great teacher

  • @darkangelglue500 yeah they do. Multiply the bottom equation by negative 2.

it'd be x+2y=-4 -2x-2y=-4. the other 2 is negative so it cancels out.

  • i neeevvverrrr got this in school,, lol.

  • HELP!!

    x + 2y = -4

    x + y = 2

i dont know what to do because there is the y's dont cancel out

  • @darkangelglue500 I think you ad a negative. or some thin 1y.

  • @darkangelglue500

just add them. they dont have to cancel

  • FUCK. WHY IS EVERYONE DOING THE ADDITION ONE? DO THE FUCKING SUBTRACTION ONE. FFUFUFUFUFUUFUFUFUF-----!

  • @bphussar Bro, its the same thing, just change every sign =0

  • @bphussar do it on your own.

  • @bphussar same

  • The part at the end is the part I needed :( Thanks alot teacher. Go F*UCK YOURSELF...! JK JK JK JK <3

  • I finally understand!!!! Thank you so , so, so , so much! You rock! Please make some more!, I wish you were my teacher

  • is there a part 2?

  • why can't he be my math teacher?

  • I use a program called APEX for my math course (next year, all courses). Apex is, for me, a very stiff one-way program that I hardly understand. You see, this was my spring break this week until Thursday I remembered I was 6 lessons behind on APEX. Rushing to understand the course, I was losing hope rapidly until I finally got fed up with the plain text on my program and searched what I was studying on youtube. I found this video. I just want to thank you so so so much for this help!

  • Teacher can i ask something. what is the reason why on the first example you used the first equation"x+y-3" in solving y, but in Second exmple you used equation 2 "x+2y=7" why?

  • @markdhen i can answer your question. because its positive and avoiding the negatives is much easier

  • there are always people who dislike it eh... whatever! =)

  • I Usted To Like Math, But Than They Started Puttinq The Alfabet And I Sarted Hatinq It LOL. But This Video Was Really Helpful(:

  • @SuperBabygurl1994 Well no shit you hate math, your so stupid you can barley spell.

  • @MUJAHID56787 Calm The Fuck Down Dude. It's Jst A Stupid Comment. If I Don't Know How To Spell That's My Fucken Problem..

  • your teaching methods are soo easy to understand

  • NO!! i needed the last equation that uses 2 uncommon values for the variables in y. arggghhh

  • Thanks for the help. your a great teacher.

  • i wish you were my teacher so bad. Your great, the teacher I have just throws it up on the board and tells us to do it, we have to figure it out our selves.

  • wow my teacher in class is teaching the same exact thing examples etc.. but i learn more here... this really helped.

  • Thank you so much, I have a first year teacher, so not the best haha, you helped me out a lot though. Thank you thank you thank you!

  • omg he makes it so much easier than my dumb old math teacher, I actually understand this now, I wish he was my math teacher

  • This helped me out alot. I got back from a road trip from the Daytona 500 last week and I went to school the day after I came back. Myy teacher told me I will have a quiz on the elimation method which i didnt understand untill I watch this video which I found by googleing it. This video helped me understand it very well. Thank you soo much!

  • Best teacher ever

  • I got it after 1 time watching this, My teacher doesn't explain anything just gives us it. And she explained elimination in a odd way like 2x-5y=-6, 2x-7y=-14. and she said to multiply a common varible by both sides, I have no idea but this seems to work so much better and I finally understand, 1 day before my big test too Thank you!

  • woohooo I've got a 100 :D

  • thank you

  • THANK YOU, i have a huge test TOMORROW and i finally understand this!

  • theres a new terminator coming up xD haha everyone has that kid that says shit no one cares about lol

  • i have a 64 in algebra :(

  • @skatedistrict238 i have a 42 DX

  • ROFL 4:15, quick on the draw.

  • you are a lot better to understand than my math teacher thank you!

  • wow, this is the first i actually understand.. thanks alot <33

  • yay math!!!!

  • how did X equal -1 ??

  • @SHEMEANzEVRyTHANG2ME

    because when

    2x = -2

you need to divide both sides by 2 so x can be alone, so

    2x / 2 = x

    and on the other side -2 / 2 = -1

    so the final equation is

    x = -1

  • i heard someone say negative zero.XD

  • I wish this guy was my teacher my stupid ass teacher is annoying the fact he calls us all "kiddies" and the old bastard flies through problems.

  • wow you are hot

  • Thanks, cool teacher. This was pretty helpful!

  • 4:15 That's irrelevant, but thank you, lol

  • Thank you SOOO MUCH! :D

  • thus is the easy stuff i get lost on word problems

  • where's the second part???

  • Very very good teacher. He has a lot of great ideas. I like how he keeps everything in a tight space on the chalk board, and how he logically and consistently places his equations. That may sound trivial, but Im very visual, and I get confused when the chalk board is a brier patch.

  • awesome teaching.Thank you much

  • wow my teacher is so energetic in the mornings! SHE RUSHES THREw EVERYTHING then i try to do the problems but she gives us a quiz like every other day! :( and HARDLY HELPS! THANX 4 THESE VIDES THEY ARE EASIER! :D

  • kind of funny seeing a white board and markers...my school has a thing called a smart board. its to save money from buying markers....cause our school is flat out broke. (my school got the smart boards through a grant)

Thanks a lot though for the video was stuck confused cause my teacher rushes through things and i try asking friends but they make it seem like im retarded.

  • @rockgurl1218 I love smart boards XD but we have like the first version and its very glitchy and sensative

  • @rockgurl1218 ya like everybody has those.....

  • @TheSquerl101 dont remember saying that everybody does.

  • great teacher

  • Amazing my little sister needed help on her hw I didn't know what I was doing , I saw this video and felt so smart and blew through her hw, btw I'm in college

  • BEST TEACHER EVER!!

  • Yo this is the coolest and calmest teacher ever he doesn't rush through things, also the class isn't disruptive.

  • Comment removed

  • he looks like nigel parker

  • Thank you so much!

  • the answer for the last equation is (7,4)

  • this guy helped out lots!

  • 3:25 its 4 20 hell yea!!!!! who else saw that!!!

  • wow i can smoke weed and come to your class

  • my math teacher always says that if the sings of the coefficients are opposite(+,-) that We should add, but if the sings are the same(+,+) or (-,-) we should subtract. Why? Maybe I should ask him that, but, still...

  • my math teacher always says that is the sings of the coefficients are opposite(+,-) that We should add, but if the sings are the same(+,+) or (-,-) we should subtract. Why? Maybe I should ask him that, but, still...

  • my math teacher goes WWAAAAYYYYY too fast, lol this guys cool

  • this guy totally made it so much easier to understand

  • thanx man. in advanced geomatry and forgot almost all my algebra over the summer

  • Shit. I'm a sophomore and I think he's teaching 5th grade kids.

  • @barneybros Lol my last name is Barney.

  • @barneybros Maybe he just a good teacher...

  • @barneybros yah. same here. :DD

  • This guy is sooo much better than my math tutor. I wish I had him. D:

  • omg some one help me...

Say I end with like 4y = 13 for example, how am i suppose to do that? i think your suppose to use fractions but i dont know how!

    .

  • YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER! I've been in summer school TWICE because I simply couldn't understand this. Now I get it! =D Thank you thank you thank you! -Big hugs and a happy dance-

  • my maths teacher is brilliant... but the problem is, she complicates things lol

this said... at GCSE i was working at A level... so... my argument is invalid

  • omg your sooooooo much better than my math teacher

  • You look to be a great teacher, thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.

  • My teacher did the same thing, taught this method last.

  • Omg! You make math look so easy.

  • I wish my teacher was as good at explaining things as you!! Great video!!

  • wow..this made it look so easy :)

  • omg. i just noticed that was tia! and this is my class room now. they moved out ! omg! haha

  • i wish my math teacher was like you but she has us write notes as she's doing the problem so i cant see what she's doing and copy notes at the same time, i wonder what grade that is.

  • its algebra 1, grade-wise either advanced 8th grade math or 9th grade on CPS standards

  • Comment removed

  • if i had u as a teacher I think I might understand
