  • Cuba Gooding, Sr!

  • True, True, no Truer words have ever meant so much to those of us who were used. Great song, I love this classic. Came out when I was 21 and it resonates so true until this day, Everybody Plays the Fool. Sung with great emotion and soul, like the man says; "There's No Exception to The Rule"

  • @2734135 Agreed! Song came out when I was 10 so took a few more years and the suicide of someone very close to appreciate it...

  • this still brings tears to my eyes

  • @inkleinations1 You, too?

  • Omar and Cuba Gooding Jr. are sure very proud of their father - lead singer, The Main Ingredient can be the ONLY ingredient for me !

  • The man can sing, did not realize it was their dad, no wonder Cuba JR can sing too. Loved his Marvin Gaye version of "What's Going On" in Jerry Maguire.

  • I just got done playing the fool. This song made me feel a little better. :/

  • Yep im thinking about drying

  • Lol like wise

  • Heard this on the radio coming home from work and thought...I LOVE this song and must hear it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Simple and Effective gotta love the 70's :)

  • This beautiful song brings me back memories of 1972, the year I met the girl I loved more than any other, and I still do.

  • Looks like 4 people already played the fool.

  • THIS MAN CAN SING. AND HIS SON CAN ACT AS WELL! ;)

  • My friends think i'm weird because i like oldies. Fuckem......

  • @MMusashi420 That's right because they're missing the best music ever made !

  • I love this song. Most everyone can relate to this video. This song was written when love songs was love songs. Oldschool love songs told stories behind their music unlike to day lovesongs not not today love songs where's there is no story behind them. Just a buch of nice sounding lyrics put together that have no meaning to them.

  • Is that Wayne Brady?

  • Don Corneleus. Lol, "It's not a doll, it's an action figure!". Thumbs up if you know what show that was from

  • as good as this music gets...DIG THIS!!!!!!

  • i have this on a 45. they were so sure they had something historic that they put the precise date it was recorded onto the label. interesting, huh?

  • i have around 500 cds now everything is on youtube all the money i spent

  • They dont write songs like this anymore . These guys were great ! Grew up with this.

  • WHAT CAN YOU SAY / A CLASSIC ! IS A CLASSIC ! IS A CLASSIC !! FROM THE SOULFUL DELIVERY OF THE SONG / TO THE ETERNAL TRUTH OF THE MESSAGE

  • even blue people play the fool. eventually.

  • I was actually at this taping when I was 8. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. They rehearsed in our living room before the show. My uncle Tony Sylvester is my mom's brother and he was the coolest. Their sound still holds up today, that was quality music.

  • Everyone needs to kick this cuz we can all Relate

  • I don't know what they're listening to today, But it cannot touch this! All that cussing and talking about bling this bling that. No message...."Oh Yeah, They say I'm keeping it real"! Real stupid.

  • One of the best songs from the 70s.

  • I'm still pissed at you for breaking my heart April A. And how dare you get married on my birthday.

  • @yankeefan42A...fuck, talk about double stabbing! feel for you man!

  • Thank you Swatsmigle for posting this , I can listen to this great song over & over . In Fact I have listened to it 7 times tonight & will play again . What great music & voices by The Main Ingredient , This is another example of the ttalented singers & musicians during the 70's . Love this song , the Horn section is perfect for this song . I have added it to my playlist . Thanks again .

  • Dig this ! everybody plays the foool sometimeee

  • Ok this is white guy from the night in the royal senesta on bourbon street new orleans, any of you essence magazine guys or girls remember the night the tropical storm hit in july 05?,when the resident artist finished for the night we took over and you guys backed me when i sang the Tams "Hey Girl Dont Bother me"?

  • "Dig this." ... How great is that! Sure beats "Lissin' up yawl" or whatever we hear these days. Look how blissed out the dancers are. Makes me want to cry.

  • Thus, the truth/the truth/THE TRUTH! However, they give you the out--JUST LISTEN!!!

  • Cuba maybe lipsynching but he does an excellent job of pulling it off. And , yes , he sings one hell of a tune !

  • lip syncing, great tune though

  • I love this old music, brings back so many great memories. Easier days gone by!

  • Good Stuff!

  • Too bad today's kids don't have music this good. The music industry is screwing them over.

  • @kja427 haha thats not true! im sixteen and i love this kind of music. i actually stole my moms motowns cds so i could listen to them in my room(:

  • @stumpdonut23 he or she meant that the new generation does not have artists such as these not that kids dont listen to music like this but that there is no new music with this amount of talent such as there was in these times

  • Who else is on a crazy motown/soul hype right now?

  • @NeutralAeroplane No one. The rest of us are listening to Glen Campbell and Pia Zadora!

  • They just don't make songs like this anymore. Songs with meaning that reach the heart. LOVE this song. I truly enjoyed the singing & the Afros. Thank you for posting.

  • Lead singer sounds like Gerald Alston

  • Happy Birthday Cuba Sr.!!! Still looking good!!!

  • cubas daddy.

  • Wow, I can definetly see the strong resemblance between him and Cuba jr. here! and slightly Omar, how cute. Love this song

  • Don Cornelius was an innovative genius way ahead of his time by creating "Soul Train" ! Don brought absolute 'Soul" and opened up to a generation way before MTV or BET. He's still around and god bless him. So many talent has graced the stage such as the Main Ingredient.i'm from a diversified city and when this song came out we all got together and enjoyed !

  • ahh man , that conga playerss kill'n it. {;^~

  • With those collars, looks like these fellas are ready for take-off. And yeah, they just mouthin' over the studio trak, but I don't care. At all.

  • thats just plain right funky

  • Who disliked this and what's wrong with their ears?

  • @shaunshady23 Probably a stray Rebecca Black fan who wandered here by accident. Check out my vids!!!!

  • @shaunshady23 - must be justin beiber fan.. lol jokes.

  • There is no guarantee the one you love is gonna love you. I cant agree more. That is why I am single. I wont be in a relationship unless I am attracted to her and she also likes me. Relationships based on one person settled for the other are not real relationships. I have to be attracted to the girl. I don't settle and never will.

  • I was not even born when this song was out, but when you look at it nothing beats the 70/80 music man

  • The One & Only True Original Version that Matters. I didn't like Aaron Neville's Cover

  • Awesome!

  • Does anyone have a video of TMI singing live with Donald McPherson (original lead singer)???

  • This song is pure gold

  • always loved this song. cuba gooding jr looks just like his dad! his dad was great on the stage as well! now i see where his son gets his talent from!

  • Man, dig this! A clip from the classic "Soul Train" with a great song! Thanks for posting!!

  • i agree..!

  • I Really Really love this song... FANTASTIC...

  • The music these days just can't match classics like these. They're just purely unbeatable.

  • @Swatsmigle

UnBEATable! Haaaahhh! :: du du chhhh :: ;) Ok, cheesy pun, but it was funny. Admit it, lol.
