Also, I'd like to point out a flaw in your logic as well: Democracy cannot co-exist with secrecy. For a democratic government (or our type of government for that matter, a republic) to work, the people must be wholly educated and informed. Our society is neither.

When secrecy becomes a large part of government S.O.P and the lies become the widely accepted truth to the masses, you cannot have democracy, because the government dictates the actions of the masses through lies. Simple as that.
