@bruisedreed2007 Are you kidding me!? You believe in a book that describes the earth as a circle rather than a sphere, and then call modern science a myth? You do not even give one single argument as to why anything in this video is a myth. Why don't you instead refute red shifts. How about you refute cosmic background radiation, and give some evidence as to why things like general relativity and special relativity (which allow GPS systems to run correctly) are myths.
The Mormon Organization is really pushing their agenda hard, via online media outlets such as Youtube and other social communities, with the intent on "selling" their doctrine as a "hip" and "okay" belief system for teenagers and young adults to adhere to. It's not. It's rubbish. They are throwing HUGE amounts of money at these marketing campaigns targeting the online demographic. Even played a commercial at the beginning of this video. It's a damn shame people don't see it the way I do.
What is the point in imagining 500 years of uninhibited research? Stemcell research, prescription drug research on death row inmates, and science experiments performed on animals...how far does "in the name of science" allow us to go? I'll hope for a better scientific understanding of the universe, but not at the expense of other beings.
maybe they should call it an (eradicator hexapod lifeform recycling system death star bring it telescope)...with machine guns attached on the side?...
@mypokemonisawesome there currently making a telescope called ult/ ultra large telescope, which will be the biggest telescope in the world by far. the telescope in its self is creative, the name of the telescope is almost irrelavent
@british123able Thanks for the info. but I still think they should give the telescopes a better name. Maybe one day, they will make one call the ultimate telescope of ESO or something like that.
Stop dissing on religion. Religion has not been out to kill science. Science has been out to kil religion. Religion has never made someone reject science...people have done that. Over hundreds of years people have had a hard time being responsible for such the most imortant part of our existance(religion) so many self-rightous individuals have screwed things up for everyone else.
@HiGhLiKeAlLaDin Actually the catholic religion has persecuted and held back science in the past. Since religion is make believe they made up untrue facts and anyone proving them wrong was silenced. Like the fact that earth isn't the center of the universe/solar system. The first person to discover it... forget the name... was charged and confined to his home for the rest of his life for spreading "False information". Religion threw the first stone (heh) and deserves to be disproved.
@runincircles70 Yes thats right "PEOPLE HAVE DONE THAT" read my post. The first person to discover that was Nicholas COpernicus. Look, their reaches a point when you have to ask yourself....DO YOU HONESTLY TRUST YOUR OWN HUMAN LOGIC????How much do you really know? Are we even real?Is this a dream?are we already dead and we think were alive?why were you born?how did you come into existance,it wasnt your choice? how did matter begin?Let there be light?.everything is a form of light!spooky stuff....
@MrNemitri what i dont understand about most religious people is their inabliltiy to acknowledge the possibility for extraterrestial life..?.. eventhough all the religious books talk about 'beings', (angels/demons, etc),comming from the sky... sure talking snakes are real.., forbidden fruit, man is made out of clay, women were made from ribs, you go to 'hell' if you touch yourself or dont believe in (insert savior here)... thats all cool, but life on other planets..? ha.. thats crazy talk...
@MrNemitri Have you ever thought that God and religion has to do with a science we have yet to come to understand... If science is ever flowing then there could easily be a higher power made of energy in a dimension or realm we know nothing about... Open your mind and ask that question again... "which one do you think is right?"... Maybe they are one just as we humans are all one... Now open your heart! Godspeed!
Nice video and very interesting. Thumbs up for people actually putting in the effort and time to make and post these kind of videos!! Just one 'but'. Did the presentor really have to fake a sort of English kind of accent? ear-wrecking!! If you're American (which it sounded to me) and want to sound intelligent, just say something intelligent! No really! It's ok! No need to fake English accents, eventhough it seems to be policy if you want to present yourself intelligable on tv nowadays. peace
Reality is way more freightening than any Sci Fi movie. How can anyone watch this any not be just a little bit afraid of the unknown. I am 100% convinced we are not alone. There is someone else out there.
@VasVortex I agree with you. For example, I think global warming is a fraud. Think about how they were talking about global cooling 30 years ago and how they could benefit from a carbon tax (quite literally a tax to breathe.) It is propaganda they are spewing out simply to exert more control over the people.
@4:44 What is she talking about?! If the wavelengths are stretched due to the stretching of the fabric of space, how can we even observe it while residing in the same space? This is nonsense and if such phenomenon exists, it would not be observable by us any more than say a stoppage of time.
The Doppler shift is due to the galaxies moving away through space while emitting radiation, not some stretching of radiation while already on its way.
@CiachoLover I think you need to go back to school. The very space that the radiation is travelling through is stretching. Yes this does cause galaxies to move apart from each other. However not all galaxies move away from each other. For instance, Andromeda is moving toward the Milkyway faster than the stretching of space between us. Any radiation travelling through space that is stretching will end up with a longer wave than it started with.
@qhack So what did they teach you in school about observing the stretching of space that you occupy? Aren't you stretching along with it? When I went to school, we used logic. Even if space were to constantly "pulsate", we could only observe it from the outside of it.
@CiachoLover Lets see if I can help you understand. Yes, we are stretching along with the universe. The reason you don't notice this, is because it is incredibly slow. We are talking about shifting light from the visible spectrum into the infra-red over the course of 13 billion years. If we use the middle of the light spectrum (500 nm) and shift that into ir (5000 nm) we are talking about a change in wave length of 10^-6 meters. Your personal growth would be > 1 atom over your lifetime.
@qhack Uh, no. If you draw a scale of 500nm and a little man on a rubber band then stretch it, you still have a scale of 500nm and little man on it, albeit looking stretched to an OUTSIDE observer. Where do you get the extra nm from if space itself is expanding? The longer waves are now moving through "longer" space canceling any observable effect.
Expanding universe theory and expansion of fabric of space are not the same thing. If I'm wrong, please point me to an authoritative source.
@CiachoLover Ah, I think I see what you are stuck on now. You assume that we are not outside observers because we are part of the universe. When talking about Doppler effect consider the car on an open road. You can hear the change in pitch, because you are an outside observer. It is the same with viewing light through a telescope. If you were traveling on the photon, then you would not be an outside observer and thus not be witness to the change.
It really amazes me that there can be that many galaxies out there and people still believe that we are the creation of a God and the only form of life in the universe. As Carl Sagan once said... "It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."
Have you seen any of the disclosure project series? And if yhou have, what do you think of what American military, CIA, and FBI informants have said and are willing to sware to a congressional hearing about. Just curious, you are definately well above average in inteligence.
Is that two galaxies colliding @ 3:21? It's on the mid top right corner of the frame. One is tilted and one is flat and looks like the flat galaxy's gravity is messing with the orientation of the titled galaxy and look like they are going to collide.
We know since Hubble that galaxies are moving away from us. the universe is expanding, but if the light takes such a long time to reach us, how do we know that the universe is still expanding?
Can it be that the universe is contracting (Big Crunch) and we do not know yet?
@Johnismybestfriend I wondered the same thing. I came to the conclusion that we are in the middle of nowhere. I have a real answer to your questions but I am not smart enough to explain it properly. :(
The fabric of space and time being stretched. Any of you have any idea what the fabric of space time is exactly. When we take into account the UFO sightings and the reports videos of these objects making right angles which would tear any known technology we have to pieces it makes one wonder if they are using a technology that manipulates this fabric..
@Articwarfaresniper Yey, it all sounds like science fiction. I believe the Restaurant of Eternity concerns visibility over long distances. The golden age of small orbital telescopes is now.
Just talked to religious nutcase muslim.............I lost my hope.....he sayd science is jewish conspiracy and i shouldnt believe any science books :s
@BenThomasFoster I do agree with you. I'm 15 and didn't know these things even exist until i watched this video. There are so many things we have never been told.
I often think about that right now as we speak there are planets so far away in other galaxies that have there own landscapes and weather systems. They may be very large or have upward of 100 moons. Maybe they are in a binary system and have two suns setting every day. Just because we aren't there to see these places doesn't mean they aren't there. The are there right now.
Why does every space video have to have the comments flooded by fucking athiests spamming people who go " god is awesome "? Cant you just ignore it for once?! its a science video not a discussion about whose right. Deal with ur beleifs somewhere else. some of us actually care about this stuff. PS. Religeous nuts begone.
@iAMsoBEAST1 as long as your scientists aren't on any big corporate payrolls. Religion is xenophobic fear based system that exploits peoples' natural born fear of alpha-male dominance.
But let's not forget that many of the scientific "facts" we think we know are really findings that were financed by governments and corporations with agendas to distort the truth.
@SensiBleu Corporations and the government may initially distort facts in their favor but the beautiful thing about science is it's ability to fix itself. It's system of checking itself for mistakes is amazing. Lets say someone come up with a blatant lie and calls it scientific. Well before it is verified it has to be read by peers to find out if it actually is true or not.
@iAMsoBEAST1 i guess you've not read about Monsanto's dealing with our own government and our food supply. you most likely eat GMOs everyday and your food doesn't even say so because certain "scientists" gave it the ok. what about all the "science" that said marijuana was a dangerous drug with no medicinal benefits. did you read about the Climatgate ordeal where "scientists" conspired to fudge the numbers given to the public? there was no "fixing itself" when politicians were pushing agendas.
@SensiBleu And have these ideas not been corrected after much peer revision. Just because someone makes up facts doesn't mean there's any scientific basis. People accept things because they're told. Scientists never thoroughly tested GMO's or anything on this list before they were given the ok to use them as facts. They were rushed by fast food companies who paid the people off to approve them with no basis. Those are not proper scientists in my book, its the idiotic politician and CEO's.
The problem isn't with people like ourselves though. You have your work cut out for you trying to convince the rest of the world to pursue science instead of philosophy.
But, the rest of humanity isn't. They are too busy squabbling and killing each-other over religions and resources. Ignorance, genocidal stupidity, greed, incompetence. Perpetuated by cultural relics, like religion, incompetent and greedy politicians, with religion and politics hand in hand.
@iAMsoBEAST1 You don't get it. Our world is controlled and manipulated by a small oppressive group who have no interest in our growth. They are the cancer that will destroy our freedom and turn the Earth into a totalitarian nightmare. Scientific discovery has progressed in leaps and bounds but is concealed from all but a very few who use these discoveries to consolidate their power. If we don't stop the growth of cancer, the world will be a living hell. First things first.
@rollsthepaul I personally hate the idea of having a small group in all the power. I hate that some people can sway once responsible scientists into doing something they wouldn't normally do, lie. What I want is for you to be able to believe what scientists are telling you. Those who lie are NOT scientists. True science is when data is gathered, hypothesis's are made, and peers revise the work and promote new ideas based on it also going through the same process.
@iAMsoBEAST1 we all are brother, religions are slowing science evolution down, forbidding such allot of things, stemcell research as of today, and the 500 year church scientific dark age, imagine how far ahead we'd be if that never happened... Lets all hope for a brighter tomorow and a betther scientific understanding of the wast universe
@masterbenjamin I'm pretty sure your takling about politicians... Religion has no say on the law, even laws forbiding certain scientific research such as stemcell. Yes religion does have it's own views but without alternative views we would all just become more narrowly minded. Stem cell research using the human embryo is permitted in Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Greece, Britain, Denmark and the Netherlands.
I love both science and religion and I believe each have their own place in the world.
@masterbenjamin I love your comment! However,I feel America is moving away from science toward religion! I see a public that is being told by media sources such as FOX "News",Talk Radio&other Right Wing media sources (Murdoch's Media Empire) that science cannot be trusted & that it is out to destroy Christianity & business with "Evolution is only a theory" "Climate Change is a hoax" & all the other coded messages out there that science is bad. We could be headed 2 corporate controlled theocracy!
@Viracocha711 Well not entierly true, however that is how you perceive it because it is easyer to spot the screaming extremeist then the subtle guy who keeps his opinions to himself
@masterbenjamin WRONG...There is no perception problem when in America in 1994 only 41% of the population denied the fact all life evolved from a common ancestor on planet Earth...Today that number is as high as 63% & even if you take the lowest or "best news" it is still a majority...YES, without a doubt the American public is going in the WRONG direction in our collective understanding of science, science education & especially acceptance of scientific consensus on important issues.
@Viracocha711 People would rather pray to the heavens instead of going up there and seeing what we find. People take the easy answer out. "I can't explain it so i'll give up and just say god did it." :(
@Lesouder5555Nature SAD, huh? America really does risk becoming basically a corporate run Christian Theocracy if things continue on the path they were on up until 3yrs ago. I fear if the current brand of Republicans are allowed full control over the US Government again in 2012 then they will do great damage to this nation in many many ways. I use to respect the Republican Party even though I disagreed with them on more issues than not but now they disgust me!
@Viracocha711 Education lead me away from religion, The American education system fails in many areas of the country. This is exactly why: People are uneducated and lazy. God is an easy answer to all complex questions. I don't want to believe, I want to know!!
@Lesouder5555Nature I LIKE THAT! "I don't want to believe, I want to know!!" Excellent! Yes, I totally agree with your comment...And just so happens the South where i live has the worse education & the most religious & vote Republican! SAD!!

Stop dissing on religion. Religion has not been out to kill science. Science has been out to kil religion. Religion has never made someone reject science...people have done that. Over hundreds of years people have had a hard time being responsible for such the most imortant part of our existance(religion) so many self-rightous individuals have screwed things up for everyone else.
HiGhLiKeAlLaDin 10 months ago

No really! It's ok! No need to fake English accents, eventhough it seems to be policy if you want to present yourself intelligable on tv nowadays. peace

CiachoLover 1 year ago
@CiachoLover I think you need to go back to school. The very space that the radiation is travelling through is stretching. Yes this does cause galaxies to move apart from each other. However not all galaxies move away from each other. For instance, Andromeda is moving toward the Milkyway faster than the stretching of space between us. Any radiation travelling through space that is stretching will end up with a longer wave than it started with.
qhack 1 year ago
@qhack So what did they teach you in school about observing the stretching of space that you occupy? Aren't you stretching along with it? When I went to school, we used logic. Even if space were to constantly "pulsate", we could only observe it from the outside of it.
CiachoLover 1 year ago
@CiachoLover Lets see if I can help you understand. Yes, we are stretching along with the universe. The reason you don't notice this, is because it is incredibly slow. We are talking about shifting light from the visible spectrum into the infra-red over the course of 13 billion years. If we use the middle of the light spectrum (500 nm) and shift that into ir (5000 nm) we are talking about a change in wave length of 10^-6 meters. Your personal growth would be > 1 atom over your lifetime.
qhack 1 year ago
@qhack Uh, no. If you draw a scale of 500nm and a little man on a rubber band then stretch it, you still have a scale of 500nm and little man on it, albeit looking stretched to an OUTSIDE observer. Where do you get the extra nm from if space itself is expanding? The longer waves are now moving through "longer" space canceling any observable effect.
Expanding universe theory and expansion of fabric of space are not the same thing. If I'm wrong, please point me to an authoritative source.
CiachoLover 1 year ago
@CiachoLover Ah, I think I see what you are stuck on now. You assume that we are not outside observers because we are part of the universe. When talking about Doppler effect consider the car on an open road. You can hear the change in pitch, because you are an outside observer. It is the same with viewing light through a telescope. If you were traveling on the photon, then you would not be an outside observer and thus not be witness to the change.
Any college level astronomy book.

It really amazes me that there can be that many galaxies out there and people still believe that we are the creation of a God and the only form of life in the universe. As Carl Sagan once said... We know since Hubble that galaxies are moving away from us. the universe is expanding, but if the light takes such a long time to reach us, how do we know that the universe is still expanding?

davidt0504 1 year ago
@iAMsoBEAST1 as long as your scientists aren't on any big corporate payrolls. Religion is xenophobic fear based system that exploits peoples' natural born fear of alpha-male dominance.
But let's not forget that many of the scientific "facts" we think we know are really findings that were financed by governments and corporations with agendas to distort the truth.
SensiBleu 1 year ago
@SensiBleu Corporations and the government may initially distort facts in their favor but the beautiful thing about science is it's ability to fix itself. It's system of checking itself for mistakes is amazing. Lets say someone come up with a blatant lie and calls it scientific. Well before it is verified it has to be read by peers to find out if it actually is true or not.
iAMsoBEAST1 1 year ago
@iAMsoBEAST1 i guess you've not read about Monsanto's dealing with our own government and our food supply. you most likely eat GMOs everyday and your food doesn't even say so because certain "scientists" gave it the ok. what about all the "science" that said marijuana was a dangerous drug with no medicinal benefits. did you read about the Climatgate ordeal where "scientists" conspired to fudge the numbers given to the public? there was no "fixing itself" when politicians were pushing agendas.
SensiBleu 1 year ago
@SensiBleu And have these ideas not been corrected after much peer revision. Just because someone makes up facts doesn't mean there's any scientific basis. People accept things because they're told. Scientists never thoroughly tested GMO's or anything on this list before they were given the ok to use them as facts. They were rushed by fast food companies who paid the people off to approve them with no basis. Those are not proper scientists in my book, its the idiotic politician and CEO's.
iAMsoBEAST1 1 year ago
@iAMsoBEAST1 I am. Absolutely.

This race is hopeless. The majority is, anyway.
MattHunX 1 year ago
@iAMsoBEAST1 Awesome, I was just about to propose that! :D
Johnismybestfriend 1 year ago
@iAMsoBEAST1 You don't get it. Our world is controlled and manipulated by a small oppressive group who have no interest in our growth. They are the cancer that will destroy our freedom and turn the Earth into a totalitarian nightmare. Scientific discovery has progressed in leaps and bounds but is concealed from all but a very few who use these discoveries to consolidate their power. If we don't stop the growth of cancer, the world will be a living hell. First things first.
rollsthepaul 1 year ago
@rollsthepaul I personally hate the idea of having a small group in all the power. I hate that some people can sway once responsible scientists into doing something they wouldn't normally do, lie. What I want is for you to be able to believe what scientists are telling you. Those who lie are NOT scientists. True science is when data is gathered, hypothesis's are made, and peers revise the work and promote new ideas based on it also going through the same process.
