Actually, the toughest human being I've ever seen was the oldest guy in my Ranger class (12-81). He'd been in Vietnam, got out for a while, then re-uped for a Ranger Battalion. He was about 40 in the course. Note: He didn't need the tab, since he already had one from service with a Ranger company in Vietnam.

@TheM1Master Really poor decision to not give him immediate medical attention after being bitten by a recluse. He could have wound up blind, paralyzed, or dead.

But yes, having a bite wound of that magnitude incised, drained, and packed without any local anesthetic would be pretty brutal. I've had a small skin abscess packed before (not on my face!) and the pain made me dizzy for a minute. That said, it subsides quickly to a dull ache once bandaged up.

@silvermediastudio Yeah, those spiders are dangerous. I've seen them before, but never actually been bitten by it. I couldn't imagine the pain of surgery, especially in the face. I can't see how he sits still for that. Because of the "field" medical attention, he had to grind on with a swollen face. It would've been better to just send him to a hospital for safety. Brown recluses and black widows can kill, and having another student die for that, specifically an officer, would be a huge loss.

Ranger school is attended by by almost every branch of the Armed Forces as well as special-tasked individuals of the FBI, CIA, NSA, and so on. Formidably, it is designated as a Special Operations Warfare Leadership course and is a requirement of Navy SEALs, Special Forces, MARSOC, and every officer in a Ranger battalion. Graduation denotes being "Ranger-qualified" while serving in a Ranger Bn denotes an "Army Ranger".

Rangers and Green Berets are uber-army and army-airborne. Air/Land vs Water/Land. Don't compare them unless you have been through both. Then you have a "somewhat" credible OPINION. 1. Its extremely physical so men have an edge.

2. Women are not allowed to apply.

But you do have similar forces around the world that let women apply under the condition that they do pass the same physical tests etc. That means no -10 push ups because your a women and so on.

One of the forces that has this rule is FSK Norway. (Forsvarets Spesial Kommando) or (Military Special Commando), but no women has ever made it through the training, not that many have applied.

Well I would do ROTC but the only thing that is stopping me is that I know if I do ROTC they WILL deploy me while I'm still in college and then I might not finish college. That is why I'm not doing ROTC. If you don't do ROTC but graduate from college I think you can still go in as an officer.

ROTC cadets are not deployable, unless they are drilling reservists in a deployable unit. If you graduate from college and want to become an officer you could either go to Officer Candidate School (OCS) or apply for a direct commision.
