  • see video submitted re paraglider collapse by nagoHaK for similar - again on a Axis wing. this one seems to collapse without any warning on a perfect flying day - scary!

  • The clue is at 0:31 onwards. Watch the green wing pass from right to left - it flys off at relatively great speed which means the videoing wing is stationary, therefore stalled.

The wing then makes a classic recovery from a stall by speeding up and passing in front of the pilot. This is a Competition wing - with no attempt at recovery it will stay in a spiral dive.

Can't believe the pilot survived to tell the tale!

  • I think he had a collapse on right side with cravat which flew the glider to the right and momentum picked up resulting in a right hand spiral?. I think the right thing to do (once in the spiral) would have been to brake hard on both brakes to slow the glider (he seems to have hands up) then bleed off speed with one large right turn or throw reserve one speed had slowed. Easier said than done though!! cant believe how quick this goes into spiral, thanks for sharing the video.

  • Very lucky!

  • Sorry for this comment. recently I saw a experienced pilot who was afraid to launch his new 'next step' wing. the wing was axis venus 3. so now I am confused... and very curious :)

  • Why he didn't even try to stop the spin or throw the reserve?

  • Geeeeeuz ,,, wow im glad he is ok - thanks for sharing :)

  • VENUS III ;)

  • Yap, pilot is OK.

Glider was Axis Venus II, if I am not misstaken

  • Yap, pilot is OK.

  • Nice video. Is the pilot ok? What is the model of this wing?
