Amps being too much power for a particular speaker - this isn't really accurate. It's better to have buckets of power on tap and don't go nuts with the volume control than to have an underpowered amp that starts to 'clip' at high volume and fry your speakers. (google amplifier clipping). You can destroy a pair of speaker just as easy with a 15 watt amp as you can with a 1000w. It's live having a 4 cylinder 1.2liter car and revving it until the engine blows up, whereas the V8 is just purring away
I'm a beginner audiophile, and I would like to know why amplifiers for sound systems cost a lot more then guitar amplifiers, especially the tube amplifiers.
change those nasty bright speakers. get some dynaudio's like the contour 5.4 atleast with a setup like that. about that cost around $30000 .in electronics. and $3000 over priced b&w speakers.lollollol
this guy is using crazy electronics. but the speakers are so so. dude get a real pair of speakers for this system. come on lets get real the cm9 what a joke. get urself atleast the diamond 804 for this system damn. its like buying a nice car and puting cheap rims on it lol.
Hmm I wouldn't use the B&W CM9's with McIntosh amps... a little bit underpowered. I would choose B&W Diamond 800 or at least nautilus series with an amp of that calibur but Snell THX M&C reference towers would do them justice!
@markusdecker90 i know that the b&w cabinets are built in china. and other parts come from all around. and finally assembled in england. 10 years everything was manufactered in england now its practly chinese lol.
@djgabc I believe these were $3000 USD a pair. They sound wonderful for "jazz" and acoustic stuff. Heavy rock music sounded a bit distorted.
I think they would sound divine with the Isley brothers, with their strong vocals and mellow r&b sound. With brotha lynch hung, and more aggressive hip-hop style music, I think they will lack the bass punch. You really are better off looking elsewhere. Even if paired with good subs, they still lack the really high frequencies, and risk getting drowned out
@dan87951 What kind of money are we talking about here. if I recall correctly, the CM9 were 2K or 3K, don't remember. Also, are the Diamonds that much better than the CM9s.
@jlalva17 I couldn't agree more. We must to keep the Golden Rule with us, every day: "Never buy something you do not need much, you do not need it now, because you will have to live with it forever." This rule is often learned in art classes at universities. Perfectly applicable in audio because someone can not always sell the unit for the price of purchase. I have a friend who dreams that his money was flying from his safe for someone's vault after a bad purchase. ; )

I have one more question. :D
I want to buy B & W soon. I am not very sure about the gloss black. Can you see on the speaker very much dust or fingerprints?
markusdecker90 10 months ago
@markusdecker90 Don't own the CM9. I shot this in a show room. I can tell you that glossy speakers do collect a lot of dust!

Can you hear these speakers sometimes a little bit louder ? I have not decided between CM9 and nubert. Thanks for answer.

@markusdecker90 With the music I listen to, the speakers did show distortion at louder volumes.

@jlalva17 Subwoofers make low frequencies, not high ones.
Very nice set up! :-)

CM9's are a very good bang for the buck. I use to own a set but moved to diamond series. Those amps are worth more than three times the speakers. lol
