  • it was 2 years ago. get over it

  • wow you had to time lapse to start the fire i thought you said it was fast

  • what an idiot he burnt a role of 100 dollars

  • you can just squeeze it on your wood.. lol

  • Pretty well done video. Good job.

  • @tbrengle8989 i think its a little more than four minutes and twenty three seconds you wasted, because your arguments are pointless and have no value. your just trolling because you get picked on by the bigger kids in the grade below you. go rethink your life you pretentious asswipe

  • That's a great video. It was written well, the instructor was clear and concise. You filmed it well as well.

The funny tag at the end was a good way to wrap it up.

Both of you did a great job. You can always tell good work, but the number of sad little trolls that come out to complain about it.

Perhaps one day when you own your own Production company, you can have them come in at night and buff your floors. But then again, even that requires a skill most of them won't have.

  • i swear i was rofling at youre haircut for like 2 mins,,

But great video and sry for laughing...Just get it cut it will look so much better :)

  • NOT THE MONEY YOU IDIOT !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • shit

  • BOWL CUT!

  • This guy has never attempted to light a fire IN A REALISTIC SURVIVAL OR BACKPACKING SITUATION

i.e. wet tinder or even moderate winds. Good luck with his techniques in high snows...

  • vacline is ptrolium jelly

  • lighter! cheap, light, small, easy to use. bring them any where.

  • i suggest u pull the firesteel back, instead of pushing the knife forward. That will knock the fire structure over. plz check out my channel and sub

  • how about weet big tree you dot have a axe around you

  • i lol at the " FIRE PASTE"... might as well get a tank of gasoline and pour it on to the wood XDD

  • Good video.. Like the 9v battery on the steel wool method. Cheaper than the Swedish firesteel for sure. (Maybe not in the long run though)

    Nice one :)

  • losers

  • Rofl :)

  • Is that REAL money? At least use a 1.

  • link please...last i checked magnesium on its own does not spark. They do make Ferro rods with a little bit of magnesium MIXED within the rod but its not solid magnesium...

  • there is a flint sparker oon the sode of the block of magnisium..

  • ...no its a ferro rod. flint is a type of rock.

  • Im also aware of the blocks but they have a ferro rod imbedded in the side of the magnesium block. The magnesium is just scraped off as the tinder and then you strike the ferro rod to ignite it. He made it sound like there is a solid magnesium rod that you use like the fire steel.

  • Go get your facts straight. Yes the striker he show had a block of Magnesium with a Ferrocerium rod attached to it which is what he SAID. Please listen before you post.

  • My Son was "Ranger of the Year" at our church in 1988 because of his fire starting abilities. He was only an 8yo at the time and my wife and I were always afraid he might turn out to be a pyromaniac!

He's now a 30 year old Engineer Manager with a family so I guess our fears were in vain, but he's great to have as a hunting or camping companian to this day!

In our "modern" world most people wouldn't last a day in the wilderness...

  • mann, why you sayin shit lyke dis? if you and yo no-good shithole cant make wunna dem fires yoself, den why the fuck you watchin dis kick-ass movie?

  • the hand drill and bow drill techniques do work and work well. Just need practice.

  • awesome video

    5/5

  • wow.... did that dumb-ass really burn real money? i hope that was fake money

  • In the wild all money is good for is fire fuel.. that and wiping your ass!

  • to true :)

  • i'm not referring to the magnesium fire starter. yea i made a smart ass comment about it earlier, but in your video when you were showing the firesteel fire starter you claimed the bar was made of the magnesium/flint. i'm quite aware how wrong you are, and i'm quite aware what elements make up a magnesium fire starter. i have one. i've used them. they suck: if its windy the magnesium flakes blow away like feathers. its not something to use for survival if your life depended on it.

  • The Swedish FireSteel, I believe, is made of a substance called Ferrocerium. I could be wrong though.

  • you are correct its a common miss conception.

  • Apparently your overrated film school has taught you the fundamentals of shapes and prisms. We do truly apologize to our mentally handicapped viewers for paraphrasing.

I indeed must now go and have a iced mocha with three ice rectangular prisms.

  • 4 minutes and 23 seconds of your...what back?

  • Haha he wasted another 4 minutes writing this dumb ass comment

  • Okay it wasn't perfect, but clean the wax out of your ears. Okay the magnesium/ferroerium strikers are not trulley a Brand name "Swedish Firesteel," but it is a ferrocerium striking rod. So maybe you can go get more of your life back by not writting mis-information.

  • @tbrengle8989 lol just shut m8 he owned the fuck out of you XD

  • @tbrengle8989 can i have the 18 sec back that it took to read your self important pretentious horseshit?

  • @tbrengle8989 id also like to point out that the only comments being "liked" here are the disses you're getting back from the uploader. @lowcostvideos nice disses, nice :D :D :D

  • @tbrengle8989 great spelling there.

  • @tbrengle8989 dude i thought u were kidding who gives a fuck if he gets shapes wrong lighten up u pussy

  • @tbrengle8989 there is a parabola like shape invading your rectum. show me the thumbs

  • @tbrengle8989 Yeah cause he's really gonna' say "and this is a magnesium rectangular prism"...who cares what he calls it at least he doesn't search videos picking out the tiniest mistakes...douche.

  • nice vid. but you shouldnt burn the money

  • where those real notes?,check out my vid were i rip up 2 £10 notes

  • fireteel! the light my fire firesteel is not magnesium! its ferrocium! damn man dont act like u know what ur talking about when u dont.

  • dude why did you bern the money?!?!?!

  • dude why did you comennt my video?!?!?!

  • Burn, it's B U R N.

  • The Swedish fire steel is not a magnesium rod, it's a flint. Same as the magnesium bar, it's a flint on the side, not a "striker". Also When striking the flint, hold the knife or steel in one place and pull the flint towards you, this way you have more control over where the sparks go.. This video is full of flaws But the effort is what counts, Thanks for the video.

  • cool but the magnesium trter is 3 dollars of amazon

  • No, we took it out of the donation jar at the local soup kitchen

    /sarcasm

  • u have nooo idea what ur talking about!

  • They will survive by hog diggin'

  • You guy's are a bunch of frigin' Homo's. Why don't you all go and do what Homo's do. Start a fire by diggin' your Hog into your Homo's buddies butt.

  • What are you going to do if you had to survive for a long period of time and your lighter and matches run out?

  • gay fire gay hair

  • 3 drops of gas will lite anything lol

  • I am from sweden! hehe

  • lol i coldent stop laughing what size bowl did you use lol nice joke

  • hey that is so stupid my brother can do that even better

  • Sweet haircut what size bowl did you use

  • haha sooooooo true1

  • haha squeeze it right on the wood

  • omfg u lit up money holy

  • isnt that illegal to light money up in flames?

  • bear grylls is a manbeast thats for sure i love his show, but..he does tend to put himself in alot of very risky circumstances when he could make more safe decisions

(i understand its for television) but if you were trying to survive you would want to take alot less risks than he does on his show

  • LowCostVideos great video, however i would expect more mature behaviour from you considering that you are giving advice on how to survive, yet here you are wasting your time getting into a comment war.

how about you all go into the wild for a month with nothing more that a basic survival kit that will only do you good for about a week and see who survives and comes back out in good health, its better than blasting off on youtube like a fool. same goes to everyone else.

  • grow up u loser. stop hateing on people cos you THINK you know better.

  • Guys, oh my God, stop arguing about Bear Grylls and Les Stroud and which is better or whatever the hell you're arguing about.

They both know what they're doing.

    Shut the fuck up.

  • sweet! i own the same flint its a pain in my ass but works.

  • Thanks. Retard.

    lol jk jk

  • Maybe you can find potassium permanganate among the many things up your ass, but I don't happen to have any.

  • you are a douchbag. try commenting a video with a real insult.

  • it is actually! you can only know what u are talking about when u know how to create fire by friction! all the modern stuff is for noobs! it took me personally 2 months to perfect and now i can proudly say that i know what im talking about and u definitely dont! so please dont try and mislead these poor ppl watching into thinking that the ways u guys are making fire is correct

  • If you read the discription, this is a realistic guide. I don't think it is realistic to expect most people to spend two months perfecting rubbing sticks together - a plan easily foiled by slightly high humidity.

  • actually if u had any idea about fire by friction u would know that humidity doesnt play a large role in success! watch some vids of youtube there is a video on youtube where someone puts his whole fire by friction set in a bucket of water and succeeds even though his wood was drenched! a realistic guide... idk i make fires in my backyard all the time by firebow or firesteel and nothing else... its cheaper and a more honest way of making fire! not too mention those skills can come in handy!

  • was that real money?

  • god no! It's looks real though.

Note: we are not counterfeiters, it was gag-gift fire kindling.

  • As far as I've learned from wilderness survival courses, its often not worth the effort to take the time starting a fire to boil water unless youre setting up camp anyway. Most bacteria found in water that will be killed by boiling have to incubate for upwards of a week...by then you'll be home in a hospital or dead

  • And you should be setting up camp, because the #1 rule of survival is STAY PUT, unless you really know what you are doing and have a good plan.

  • I've got a few for you: eating dead animals raw. Swimming across a freezing stream and counting on a hot spring (barely visible in the distance) to survive. And finally, drinking standing water from anywhere. If you get sick from the water, you end up more dehydrated than you started.

  • Does any of that mean he gives good advice on his show? I didn't think so.

  • great video i recomend putting the fire steel in the paste it works better than holding it near the paste

  • anyone can start a fire if they had all that modern shit. the point of learning to start one is to be able to save ur ass in a survival situation. do u really expect to have a lighter or something. what if u r stuck in the wild for a long time. eventualy u will run out of that stuff. what u need is a method that can be used by using ehat u already have from nature dickhead. hmmmm seems to me the original method is better fat ass. obesity has corrupted ur mind, body, and soul...wait....nev

  • Your post was sensible until the word dickhead. Idiot. I bet you learned your survival skillz watching Man vs Wild.

  • yes actualy i did! owned!

  • Wtf man? he is just trying to give some helpful tips, but if you're really that ignorant, feel free to waste you're time rubbing two sticks together!

  • and you burned money bc...haha

  • thanks mate. I'm having a camp party and i need to learn. U helped loads. Not sure u can get some of those things in England tho lol

  • you can get them from blacks, maplins, yeomans or any other good camping store

  • u lit the fire quicker with the lighter than the paste

  • ummm where do u get the swedish fire steel thingy

  • What about the can of roach spray method and a lighter.

  • Cool video it looked very profesional.

Oh ya you should add the blast match to your video. =)

  • Yes, I've heard of it but never seen one in use.

  • where do you buy all that

  • man this video is amazing great i love survival i have the megneasm stick i have a question about it can you start a fire with just the spark sitck part not using the megneasm?

  • Yes, you can, but only if you have really good tender.

  • ya man, u can light dryer lint or cotton balls with just the sparks off the magnesium stick side, but dont forget to spray the dryer lint or cotton ball with some insect repellent or petroleum jelly or some perfume or air freshener before u light it. but dont put too much just 2-3 drops maybe.

  • I don't like you

  • I don't like people who have nothing better to do than insult strangers on the internet.

  • I didn't insult you I just said I don't like you..

    Merely voicing an opinion

  • i agree
