  • This gives me chills tonight. I am in the northrn hemisphere and can't be my dear friend's tangi this weekend. I am sending my spirit to be with them .. I will send words to send him off....(represent)

  • Hey Tiki, it makes me proud of my kiwi heritage, not just maori, not just pakeha but all of us. A culture is not a thing to be owned. Its like the sea, and the rivers. It should be nurtured and held in trust for the next generation, but never owned. When we all appreciate and celebrate it, then our nation will have grown-up. - A white guy from Chch.

  • @tikidub

I don't know if my last comment was posted??? So...

Why is someone having "a sniff" at 2.02 in this vid?

I love this sh*t but it aint relevant in terms of the clip.

  • @0414724 Hey its Tiki here. The drugs, shots of the city, and the spinning out effect represents my struggle and all the things that have been oppressing me. My journey to the ocean is me wanting to ask for some answers and help in dealing with these issues. This is when my gandmother apears and incourages me to listen to Tangaroa - god of the sea, and to not be scared of looking deeper into my ancestory. Perhaps wtach again & really look at the signs - also at the end - the words say it all

  • @tikidub Hey TIki. Respect for your reply.

I most likely didn't see the signs due to the things that are oppressing me at the mo'. Maybe that's why I zeroed in on that paticular element of the clip.

We all have our demons. Some people are making love (philosophically) to them. Some are facing them every minute of every day with a feeling of dread and instant regret, and some are waving them goodbye with a false smile and a "don't come back" wish. I said goodbye.

    Chur. Beautiful song and clip.

  • @tikidub love your work bro...please keep em comming!!!

  • @tikidub Awesome song and brilliant clip e hoa. V. powerful message, I showed it to my kids this morning and they really liked it too. I tried to find the clip on iTunes without luck, am happy to pay for it if I can get a copy somewhere.

    Ake ake, kia kaha.

  • @tikidub We all put ourselves and the people we know in our art: whether writing, painting, film, or music. You've done a great job here, the visuals and sound are powerful. I enjoyed watching it. Tēnā rāwā atu koe.

  • @tikidub My daughter Catherine put me on to your music Tiki, I love it, and reading about your personal struggle, makes me think what an amazing person you really are. Stay strong and focused you have an incredible journey to take and am sure you can help so many others through it too. God Bless.

    Talented or what! lol

  • @tikidub just trust in God man, he is where real peace is.

  • @tikidub Awesome...... this makes me feel closer to my roots. My family came from Waikato. My GG-grandfather was an Englishman & my GG-grandmother was a Maori lady from the Ranana/Randell family. I was born and raised in Hawaii.

  • @0414724 I think he is referring to all his bad influences in his life and remembering his roots and where he comes from.

It's referring to give all the shit away, and remember and be proud of who you are.

    My opinion..

  • @0414724 If you have read and followed Tiki's journey, you would know that 2.02 is very central to this man's journey... and I interpret this video as a cleansing, questioning, wanting to find your place, motivating yourself by connecting to the inner, the strengths of those that your spirit and thus journey is linked to - to move forward, a new man/woman. I love this video. i connect to the msg of needing regrowth and ahi kaa in this video. thank you for a great artistic piece Tiki!

  • @0414724 hahahaha,,,, thats a stick not a straw

  • @0414724 i hope...

  • @tikidub mauruuru korua koroe, ka tahi hongi ... nana (rapa nui)

The way it was set up was just awesome, 5 screens not playing simultaneously. I didnt even care for the rest of the museum after seeing this video and hearing the music.

Cant wait to know more about this music and the culture thats behind it all.

Wish you much success! The world is in desperate need of some ReAL music :D

  • iim proud to call myself a NEW ZEALANDER!

    shot tikki! (::

  • This is fucking amazing.

  • Very nice!! So powerful and soul stirring. Makes me miss island life very much. Do Maori consider themselves Pacific Islander like Samoan, Hawaiian or Chamorro? I lived in Guam and Hawaii for 3 years each and fell in love with those people and their cultures. I would LOVE to go to New Zealand and get to know the Maori!

  • @glamcherie69 nom Maori people don't consider them selves islanders. If you do get to meet Maori on a Marae, let me tell you, it is an amazing experience.

  • Ka pai! Really atmospheric!

  • E hoa, decolonize your mind, the whales ( kou kua'auhau ) would never rule you nor any of their kama with an iron flipper...why? we are having a hard time realizing that we are NOT the "big fish of danger"...it is our desire to be like our enemies and to live like them. The whale is our familiy and we must care for them too, just like they have been holding " na mana" all these generations for us. Eo!
