waittttt i thought this is was 2 pac and dres song? and the biggie biggie biggie!!? i thought that was biggie smalls.... is there something that i don’t know???
gramham central station was the 1st to use the talkbox, youngstas. in '74. don't sleep on the white boys. peter frampton jammed in '76 with do u feel like we do
Roger was the King of the Talk Box....but D.J. Quik is bad on the Talk Box too. To even mention T-Pain in the same sentence as Roger is an insult. T-pain does not use a talk box, he uses an Autotune. just like J-lo, Mary Mary, and several other people.
Contrary to popular belief T-Pain and Roger Troutman do not use the same effect. T-Pain uses autotune which adjusts the tone of his voice while Roger uses a Talkbox which adjusts the sound of his synthesizer according to the movements of his mouth. Big difference there people. T-Pain popularized an entirely different thing than Roger did...keep in mind Peter Frampton used a talkbox too....
Not really sure why anyone is mentioning T Pain for. Roger and T Pain did totally different things. Roger's tool was a Talk Box (look it up) and T Pain uses Auto Tune (look it up too). not the same thing what's so ever apart from the common factor of a voice. Educate yourselves people, It doesn't hurt to know what you are talking about.
ohh yeah always wanted to be someones house boy. cos hustle n flow is jus some movie init, dnt mean nothin else duz it fagggit, go munch sum chiggin, while im doggin ur saggin momma. ill bring ya trauma, cos ders too much drama, bring ya heat like a sauna, AKs like osama, legislate on dat ass like Obama, blow ya momma like a suicide bomber. wot muthaphucka, u jus a sucka. im a slug ya, ya dig?
@realrap00 not really. T-Pain himself said on one of his raps, "Now lemme get a moment of silence/for the late great Roger Troutman/Y'all n****s ain't holdin him down/So we had to put me at you". T-Pain isn't acting like he did the autotune/talkbox thing first.
@MusicDushan I'm not a instrument expert, but a talk box changes the voice completely? Autotune keeps traces of thier real voice, but just sets it off balance?
@Pooky1991 the talk-box emulates a human voice by sending the sound of an instrument into the throat, and by the muscle memory of speaking what comes out is audible speech, just the sound is the sound of the instrument, Autotune receveives the human voice and modulates it into the desired key, notes, etc :)
@MusicDushan OK I get it now. One is basically the iinstrument sound with human speach, and the other just turns your voice into an instrument. Makes sense. I wonder if anyone used autotune before T-pain.
@realrap00 this is different than auto tune, it's talk box. Give t-pain credit for autotune, it's way more retarded. Give zapp and roger the credit for the groovin talkbox, it's legit.
This song by zapp and roger appears on The compilation greatest hits 2 and more. But i don't understand why he split the song with two beats. If he stuck with the first beat for the whole song,it would have been more awesome.Does anyone know why?
actually that's not entirely accurate. terry "zapp" troutman did not kill roger. it was larry that killed him, and then he killed himself after leaving roger in an alley and then fleeing in the car. he was found crashed into a tree. terry "zapp" troutman is still alive and making music. on a side note, unfortunately, roger's son, roger II is also dead after attempting to carry out his father's talkbox legacy. he was killed in january of 2003. he released a cd in 2000 called the second coming.
Apparenty(as far as I know), He was found dead in the morning, right outside his studio, with head injuries. His brother Larry was found dead also in the same day, just a couple of blocks from where Roger was found. Police said Larry killed Roger, then killed himself. All very sad.
He was shot also. It's all very sad. T-Pain gets on my damn nerves. Roger is the ORIGINAL Mr. Synthesizer. Plus he could sing even more AMAZING without the synthesizer!!!
zapp is the entire band i read in a interview becuz roger used 2 be with paraliment and he had his own group the human body so they took some demos to some record company and used another name zapp is roger's brother nick name and he was standing there at the time so they just came out with zapp on the spot
Seems like there's a bit of confusion on here. PimpJSC, Roger Troutman was featured with Dre and Pac, but Troutman along with members of Zapp wrote California Love. Out of respect they brought Troutman along for the single because he originally wrote the song that they were sampling from. Biggie's Going Back To Cali is just More Bounce to the Ounce slowed down and in a different key...
naw yall got it wrong, tupac didnt get this song from roger, roger was featured on that song with pac nd dre, but Pac got this song from West Coast Poplock-Ronnie Hudson
:-) but then they performed "Rise from Herb Alpert" you mean? For those who like to know where Biggie got it from, I uploaded a sample from vinyl. I posted it in my files on Youtube. Search for "Herb Alpert - Rise (1980)" in the search bar or click my name to find the link.
