You are confusing strategic bombing with tactical bombing. Tactical bombing is what allowed the allies to advance or stem the tide in the Battle of the Bulge, due to air superiority. In cases of parity on the ground the Germans won almost every battle in the western theater.
The point is they had tactical air superiority and they just scraped by - sometimes not. Special Forces and AS were effective, but it was mostly a citizen army of draftees. These soldiers are not the type to fight a popular guerrilla army/National Liberation Movement. He saved this entire platoon by himself while they were under heavy crossfire he stood up and took out 2 bunkers of N.V.A. and vietcong with his M60 in the process he was shot ten times and survived under a bush for three days and won the bronze star with a "V" for valor.

We didn't allow elections in the late 50's because we knew the commies would win. After the French were kicked out we just took over their colony. We were outright aggressors. But we DID win.
