  • No one I know (around 50+ people) that smoke have DP and they smoke all the time.

  • Good!

  • I'm just saying, that marijuana shouldn't be hated for that. You should be happy that they are getting closer to legalizing it, they will notice soon that dp can be caused by it, so if it's gonna be legal they need to find better cures for dp.

(Sorry for the ramble, I'm sorta outta my mind right now :D)

  • Im pretty sure it's not 1 in 250 or this disorder would be far more wide spread.

  • Well 1 in 100 have depersonalization (induced by a variety of causes). For various reasons it often goes undiagnosed. If you would like more justification let me know. I can send you a copy of the study i worked on that has been published in 2 scientific journals.

  • @zhapness

    That happens too....

  • Have the psychotropic meds helped reduce the depersonalization episodes?

  • paxil and seroquel for me but we are all so different it is really trial and error.

  • i also have a bit of an obvious question--do you regret smoking pot? i ask because i too have experienced anxiety from pot and i don't blame myself as much as i blame society and the general atmosphere of marijuana smokers. the whole bogus that it is absolutely harmless and will do less harm than alcohol. let me tell you--i love my beer more than ever, especially after experiencing DP/DR.

so do you regret it or do you feel anger toward the attitude that marijuana is "harmless?"

  • I completely regret smoking marijuana. Had i known then what i know now i would not have touched it. At the time i knew that long term pot use could kill brain cells, or at least that's what we were told. We were told nothing about mental illnesses.

I think people are becoming more aware that marijuana is not harmless. Well, at least the people that live in my neighborhood as i have written several newspaper articles on it (and had them published) :)

  • Just because one person, out of 1 million get dp from pot doesn't mean its a horrible drug, other than that there is NOTHING wrong with marijuana, and it should be legalized.

  • it's 1 in 250

  • Oh, i believe your DP/Dr was drug-induced, and i hate when people say otherwise. i hate it when they say we have "underlying psychological" issues. regular people get DP/DR from a SINGLE joint. not even--sometimes from a couple of hits . it's not worth the risk. unigirlb i like all of your vidoes too =]

  • I have had an undiagnosed condition for around 12 years and, until recently seeing your earlier vids, had no idea what it was.I have symptoms almost identical to yours.I tried to access the dps self help website after you mentioned it on an earlier post but i keep getting error messages.I wondered if i could trouble you to point me in the direction of sites i could use to find out more.Thx.

  • I am in contact with the moderator of the site. Will let you know when it is accessable. It is by far the best site.

  • thx

  • For those who are being enlightened they question the meaning of life and such. My dp/dr is not of this type. There are different types.

  • For some people i believe dp is a form of spiritual enlightenment. But for me it is torture. How can this be enlightening when it is horrific? My dp was drug induced. I am living a nightmare.

  • mine was also drug induced. what drug were using?

  • marijuana

  • I'm glad you are looking at holistic approaches. There are literally thousands. Finding the right one for you is the journey.

  • DP/DR is a form of spiritual enlightenment. I've had it for 11 years. I have done all the gambit of drugs. They will not cure your DP. I hope someday you can look past the paradigm of drugs and stop looking at your DP as an "illness".

  • i agree with you 100% person. when i first experienced it i was terrified but then it helped me open my eyes to the world around me and i am so greatful for it. through positive thinking and meditation i no longer experience the symptoms of DP. you can do it. seriously
