Hahah - i just LOVE how the lady on the far left of our screen (Stage right) isn't even bothering with talking, she's just MOWING THAT SHIT DOWN!! See? Tofurky is fucking awesome!
@annpetasupporter The ironic thing is that I have two more videos supporting a veg or vegan diet that have come from a FOX affiliate. The other two come from FOX Atlanta. :-)
Oh man, you're a vegan and u don't eat soy or gluten? That must be hard... I guess soy and gluten aren't the healthiest to eat, but still. You must grow your own food and do a whole lot of your own cooking and everything. Yeah, I really just don't like fake meats in general, mostly because I don't like meat.
@annpetasupporter I did some tests and found out I am both soy and gluten intolerant so I quit both 19 months ago. I used eat and enjoy the fake meats until then. I live in a an apartment so I don't grow my own food but I do prepare most all my food. Before that I ate out almost every meal, but unfortunately there is little to eat at restaurants now.
My aunt is gluten intolerant. She has celiac's disease. But, unfortunately she eats meat and everything. That seems hard enough, let alone being a vegan and not being able to eat soy as well. Soy and gluten really aren't that great for you anyways. I've heard from one of my naturopaths that too much soy can actually contribute to depression (been diagnosed with it many times) and that it increases your estrogen levels a lot, so he suggested getting protein from other sources.
@annpetasupporter Anything processed isn't very good for you. And that definitely includes soy. I would certainly say though, it is less detrimental than animal flesh. And you don't have to eat soy for protein. In fact you really don't have to go out of your way at all to get protein. If you just eat enough whole foods such as fruits and veggies, not to mention grains too, you are getting enough protein. Of course if you you don't feel that is enough, nuts and seeds have plenty of protein.
Well, yeah, I definitely agree with you that it is less detrimental than meat. I still consume soy anyways. I wasn't entertaining the idea of eating meat. I meant nuts and seeds and stuff like you suggested. I haven't had meat in almost 11 years. I will never eat it again. Ew.
@annpetasupporter Oh I didn't think you were considering eat meat. I was just saying soy isn't really health food. But until I found out I was out I was soy intolerant I ate a ton of soy. :-)
All their products are said to be GMO free. Just go to their website to confirm. Here is part of what they say on the website regarding GMO's. They go into further detail on the website. BTW, the company who makes Tofurkey is Turtle Island.
"Turtle Island Foods has been a long time opponent of the use of genetically engineered foods (aka "foods produced using biotechnology.) We vigorously source certified non-genetically engineered ingredients from all of our suppliers."
@3dbeing They also go on to say: "We have been long time opponents of genetically engineered (GE) foods, also know as genetically modified organisms (GMO). Our products only contain non-GMO ingredients, and we require proper documentation from our suppliers to this effect for any ingredient that may potentially be grown from GMO seed."
And there is still more info about this on the website.
@3dbeing It's great to be someone aware of all that really goes on in this world. If everyone gets aware and fights back, much of the injustices will end. We all need to question big business and all authority. But it is also important not to point the finger without facts. That in itself is a huge injustice. I went to watch the video you referred me to. I have been speaking out against GMO's for years. I believe all their facts are correct and none of it indicates Tofurky is made with GMO's.
By all means believe whatever you like, it is after all, at least for now, a free country. The bottom line is, simply because you like what a company is saying, doesn't mean they are telling the truth; wanting to believe is not enough. And choosing to ignore the facts, doesn't change the truth...
By all means present as many facts as you would like. I never stated that I trust any company 100 percent. You are right that just because someone likes what a company is saying doesn't mean they are telling the truth. I am very skeptical myself, but considering the amount of information we have about how animals are raised for food in this country... I think I would prefer the mock food which may or may not be made from GMO soy over a hormone and antibiotic filled turkey.
I'm watching this while eating tofurky roast like it's nobody's business.

Anything slathered in chicken/turkey gravy will taste good.
A bowl of rocks with gravy would taste good, maybe not good for the choppers but taste would be fine.

What's all this anti-soy prattle? There's nothing wrong with Soy.

This is cool, but I actually don't really like it (I'm a vegetarian). Don't hate me. :/

@annpetasupporter I like the oven roasted "turkey" slices. Although I don't eat their products anymore because I no longer eat soy or gluten.

Sorry if I have a hard time taking corporations, regardless of their product, at their word. Good luck with that...
3dbeing 2 years ago
@3dbeing Well this is not a big corporation. This is a company owned by a very nice vegan man.
TheVeganHere 2 years ago
incidentally, here are some ladies who have been doing quite a bit of research on GMO's, you should let them know they have their facts incorrect...

I would rather trust this company than anything that could come out of factory farms.
