Thanks for everything! :D You will see my name on the cover someday soon for shure!! :D I've been busting my a@# off... I'm drawing like 8-10 hours a day, I will not give up! :D
I want you to take a moment of your time and please check out my new show on YouTube called Marvel Critics. I just created its first season (Ep. 1-6). I want to make a second season, but would like more subscribers. You can also like the Facebook page and Google+ account i created. Thanks for taking your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I draw a lot of comics and I even have a set of characters, but I can only draw people (in primitive cartoon form.) I really want to make it in some kind of a cartoon business, and I wrote a few stories that might be good comic-book material. Your advice is very good, and it proves that I have a long way to go.
I have been denied by a few companies already in my career but I will not give up my childhood dream, thank you mate. your video was brief and was inspiring! cheers!
Hey Gerry, I think you've given good tips on breaking in comics. I was also wondering what is the shortest deadline? What is the longest deadline? Cause I would like to see if, at my current speed, I could make a short deadline. Or if I can even make a longer deadline. lol
@Robocop1989 Well, a fellow inker of mine told me today that one time he was given a deadline of one week to finish 22 pages. That's crazy. The shortest one I heard so far. Longest deadline I know of was for Jay Anacleto's Marvels 2. I think it took him 4 years to finish 6 issues. But those are extremes. You usually have 28 days to finish one issue of 22-24 pages.
Hey Gerry, great advice! I said hi to Leinil for you while down at Comic Con, I felt a little awkward since I didn't know either of you personally, but he did say he'll let you know I did that. I was at a panel with CB Cebulski, but I was an idiot and didn't get his contact info, he said he could send out sample scripts. I thought I could find his contact info on his Twitter, I guess it's not on there, or I just don't know how to use Twitter.
Thanks for the video, Gerry. Made me want to start drawing comics, so it was worth the watch. :)
I am obsessed with the idea of drawing comics, but honestly working for a comics company has never appealed to me. Too much of an individualist, I guess. I'm grateful that we have options like self-publishing and web comics now, for those of us who want to do comics but sort of want to do it on our own terms.
I admire the dedication and love in what you do Gerry and also the good advice you just gave.
I have also helped trained and given advice to people in the past in more or less the same way you did.
A lot of people look at things from the outside wanting to do things, without realizing all the stress dedication and hard work that is involved. And that includes all types of creative professions.
It's not just a case of drawing a pretty picture and hoping someone will like it LOL
i didnt know he was a comic book artist!!!
