I deleted my facebook account years ago and I've never been happier. Got sick of people's nonsense messages about what they are eating or the times they visited the bathroom.

The only social media site I really enjoy is YouTube and its video but I don't really socialize here I just watch videos and comment.

Social media sites are addictive and could drive you away from the things that do make sense and are good in your life. My 2 cents...

Thats quite logical really. When you see a face when you communicate, there is a hell of alot information you get through body language. This "laguage" isnt noticed at first but it helps develop your brain in a positive way. A person who lives his/hers life only online will never be able to judge people or have any social anetennas whatsoever. If u use it for recreation only it will not have any effect. U might not notice it now, but in a couple of decades we will notice it for sure.

Here's my opinion: when on the phone you can hear the person's voice. You can tell their expressions, i.e. anger, happiness, sadness. But while on a social network all you can (usually) see is text and maybe some pictures. There isn't much expression to be sensed.

I think social networking sites may effect our treatment of local institutions, but hardly infantilize us. We may go out less, and undervalue the library or museum, but networking sights can also create better planning of local groups.
